“There’s a certain kind of store that makes you wish you had arrived with an empty suitcase and an unlimited line of credit. Table & Tonic is that store. It’s the kind of place you stumble into on Mason Avenue—past the racks of overly branded tees and kitschy shell decor—and think, Finally.
This is the only spot on the main drag where the word “souvenir” doesn’t feel like an insult. Everything inside feels curated with intention, not just stocked to ride the summer tourist wave. Think elevated southern charm with just the right brush of coastal, never falling into beachy caricature. You won’t find flip-flop motifs or Cape Charles printed on every throw pillow. Instead, you’ll discover pieces that whisper where you’ve been, not shout it.
Linens, serving pieces, scent profiles you want to bottle your entire personality around—each item feels like something you’ll still love ten years from now. There’s a sense of longevity here. It’s not trendy; it’s timeless. Whether you’re browsing artfully imperfect pottery, beautifully bound cookbooks, or textiles that look like they came from someone’s impossibly tasteful grandmother’s Charleston estate, everything has that “take me home, and I’ll elevate your life” energy.
And the owner? Absolutely delightful. Warm, welcoming, and never pushy. She has that rare ability to make you feel like a friend rather than a mark. She’ll happily chat about where a piece came from or how it’s made, but she also knows when to leave you to your reverie. Which is good, because you’ll want time to drink it all in.”

“Amazing store, great energy and a wonderful mission. Everything sold in this store has a story behind it, an individual artist and it all goes to non profit causes.
The store attendant was very helpful, and insightful to the merchandise.”
“I had no idea the treat I was in pulling up this shop! I have passed by a bunch and seen the stuff outside but always been “too busy” to stop. Today, I finally stopped, Robert greeted me immediately, such a lovely and humble man, explained the shop to me then left me alone to browse. I purchased what I thought was just a bird on a piece of wood, that Robert made. As I was pulling out Robert’s wife, Tracy was pulling in, who was so lovely, she stopped me. She wanted to see the bird, she likes to see all of Robert’s work and she didn’t have a chance to see this one before it was sold. She explained Robert’s history to Cape Charles which was so amazing. I wasn’t just purchasing a bird on wood, I was purchasing more…if you are in Cape Charles, stop by this charming store. Say hi to these loving people and check out these birds, they are amazing, in more ways than one.”
“Such a cute gift shop, I had a difficult time deciding what to purchase! I finally landed on this fish gurgle pitcher, which comes in fun colors and different sizes. Items here are reasonably priced and the staff are very friendly.”
“Chuckletown is a great store with very cool and affordable items, especially being in a tourist area. While I visited on a colder slow day, the service and cleanliness of the store was impressive. The service and attentiveness of the staff was immaculate. Mark/Johnny was great although he would not confirm his name. He was a conversationalist who made the experience memorable, without him my group may have never chuckled.”
