Everyone was very helpful at the front desk no complaints there!! HOWEVER me and my family went to adopt a dog and had to do a meet and greet with our current pets.. we were told that they would meet through the fence first to get everyone acquainted before they were to meet with out the fence.. THAT did not happen and there were a few other dogs out in the play area and a K9 barking from his car and a lot going one.. so our dogs did not get along at the first meet! We asked to do it again the way it was SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN through the fence first so everyone had a chance to get smells in and they told us no! I think it was handled wrong and unfair, however if they truly didn’t get alone that’s fine it happens but I just do not like the way it was handled.

Lovely and well kept building. It's clear the paid workers and the volunteers care.Their Snout and About program is wonderful to participate in.I like that they collect cans and use the money they get for the cans to fun spays and nuters.

We have had a wonderful experience with CAS. We adopted a precious little dog who was super skittish and timid at first. We couldn't take her home at first due to kennel cough. The staff was so great about letting me visit her daily to bond with her. ? Shout out to Danielle, Amy, Nichelle, and all the other workers and volunteers who so lovingly take care of all the animals there and set the tone for the atmosphere.

The two stars is for the volunteer workers and nice facility. Not the receptionist lady who works up front. Whoever the older blonde lady is working as a receptionist is extremely rude and unprofessional. I have NEVER written a google review but had to for this one. The dog I wanted ended up getting adopted, which is completely fine! Another receptionist broke the news to me later that day but seemed empathetic while telling me. I'm sure the dog ended up with a great family and I am genuinely happy for them. However, as someone who has worked in customer service for the majority of their life, the point of customer service is to be understanding, polite, and informational. This was the opposite. The initial receptionist seemed upset that I didn't know their specific adoption process already and seemed irritated whenever I had any questions (to preface I had never adopted from here before). It's extremely validating to know that others feel the same way on here. This place would do SO much better and I'm sure have more business if the workers who are the FIRST and LAST interactions you have at the facility were more friendly and changed their tone of voice.

Great facility and the staff is so helpful and friendly. It's very clean and accommodating. They made the process so easy to adopt a pet. They were very understanding of the things that were most important to me and making a choice and helped facilitate that

I adopted a German Shepard several weeks ago, however he ended up not being compatible. As he managed to cause over 6k in damage to my home. I went to take him back and nicely explained what happened. I informed him that he does well with kids and well in a car. I listed positives but that he was not a fit for our home. They told me since I’m surrendering an animal, I cannot adopt for a YEAR!! I told them that I only had the dog for 48 hours, and I would like an opportunity to adopt another dog within 12 months if the personality fits. They said a manger could override it and that they would have the manager call me so I could explain. The manager never called. I also never got anything refunded.

I dropped off some pet supplies that my friend left behind. I have more to get out of the way so some lucky pet can enjoy them. With cold weather coming in they could use some of the blankets and clothes to keep them warm.

Don't waste your time here. The three ladies at the front desk are glued to their computers as if they were responsible for the reentry of the space shuttle, all the while looking like the "Sad Clerk at Blockbuster" and likely wishing they were anywhere else (a nail salon?). Instead, head over to the Chesapeake Humane Society on New Mill Drive off Cedar Road where you will find friendly, welcoming, helpful young folks ready to assist in a match for a "forever home".
