Yet again Dollar proved they are nothing but fraudulent and untrustworthy. No matter if I leave a fuel receipt on the dash or how much j top it off, always a fuel charge. Always returned full. I think these scam artists just assume people won't notice.If you notice this Dollar. You need to refund the $46 fuel charge you made against reservation 835877011.Avoid at all costs!!!!!

One the worst services. Booked for 2 weeks in IAD airport . Was notified in a location that no cars are available despite getting a confirmation # and booked 1 month back. Staff dint even bother to look out for options in hertz or thrifty.The staff at the counter can't even process the refund and told me to call the customer service. it was a big hustle as expedia takes 10 days to process.I understand the holiday rush but poor notification services, they could let me known before boarding flight not at the counter around 10 PM. Avoid this even the prices are 80% low

We arrived on time and the company had zero cars available. We were told we would need to wait 2-6 hours for a vehicle's to be turned in or try to cancel and get a rental car through a different Company. The company was unwilling to assist in helping us find a vehicle even though it was their fault that they had overbooked. Once a car did arrive, it was a small sedan, even though we had paid a higher price for the mid sized SUV. The Company told us if we wanted the mid sized SUV we would need to continue to wait and they did not know how long that would be. We asked if we could have the price adjusted since we had originally paid for a more expensive car and the Company said no. We were forced to take the smaller car even though we had paid approximately $15 per day extra for the midsize suv. The Company attendants were rude, not apologetic, not accommodating. They were absolutely horrible. This occurred on Christmas morning and the Company not having any cars available caused major delays in our holiday plans.

Worst rental experience ever. Customer service is great but cars are super old and high mileage. Current rental very noisy with a loud sound on the passenger side. No luck getting a hold of local staff on phone.

Booked a car rental two weeks in advance for pickup Christmas Eve morning at 10am, showed up and I was told they had no cars available and to put my name on some sloppily put together piece of paper. I had to wait 3 hours but finally got the car. I booked a midsize SUV and I got some sad little subcompact. There was no attempt at an apology or explanation. This was the first and last time I will ever book with Dollar.

A scam renting company who doesn’t care about their customer, I would give negative star if I could.Be careful for the car they rented to you. Mine was only 5000 miles and broke down on the interstate in the middle lane. So they might not check their cars very well before they rent to you, as they put your safety at the bottom.I had to get the vehicle towed by city on the street from dangerous interstate and waited hours to get it towed from street. As we had our infant in the car, and had to take Uber to exchange the car, and the customer service couldn’t call Uber for us, which I totally understand,but when I went to the counter and talked to the supervisor named Noort Ahmad, he doesn’t care what I had been going through with my family with my infant, what’s worse, he told me he couldn’t do anything no to help m for all the hours I have wasted that day because we were safe now and he told me to call customer service.( Will car broking down on the interstate caused death or injured will get his attention???).I was very disappointed being treated like this.

Rented my car on dollar.ca as I live in Canada. Price did not specify currency, I tried calling to confirm and did not get ahold of anyone, so I rented anyways assuming it was Canadian dollars. When I arrived I paid more than expected because it was in US dollars and the guy giving me the car laughed and said "isn't that a good scam?" which I did not find funny. Tricking your customers into paying more is not good customer service. I will not be renting from you again.

On the positive side, the staff were polite and pick up / drop off were quicker than expected. On the negative side, the car was in very poor condition. I don’t expect much from the cheapest compact car at the cheapest rental spot, but I feel like the car should at least be safe to drive.In this car, I got into a really bad spot when it started raining and I turned on the wipers only to find that they left such bad streaks on the windshield you couldn’t see. It was so unsafe that I actually had to stop and replace the wiper blades (we’ll see if Dollar reimburses me once I get through to their customer service, but I’m not optimistic…. Hopefully my purchase at least helps the next person who gets stuck with this car). Car also came with under inflated tires (got TPMS light on second day, had to stop and take care of that as well), was high mileage for a rental (and drove like it too - listening to the engine struggle to shift was actually frightening) and was gross inside (bits of trash, gunk and lord knows what else stuck between the seats and in the armrest compartments and center console).Normally I wouldn’t have accepted a car in this condition, but there was only one car available when I got there, so I didn’t really have a choice unless I wanted to wait around after my flight. Wouldn’t recommend renting from this Hertz/Thrifty/Dollar location unless you have Hertz status (presidents circle had plenty of cars available and were nicer cars).

Dollar overbooks cars. Several of us were stranded today 23 Oct 2023. Hertz owns dollar and Thrifty. Hertz takes precedence in any available cars. Read the 1 star reviews. They are real.

3pm Oct 6, 2023 I spent 75 minutes to get my EV rental. Then I was charged $35 to recharge upon return. Horrible experience. If you rent EV, then I recommend prepay fuel, because upon returning, time is of the essence.

I can bypass people who work early and might be snarky. I honestly had a good experience checking in. Checking out, however, completely different story. While his co-workers watched on, the person accepting the keys to the car was flat out angry. Borderline hostile. Actually, hostile. Yelled. Waved arms. Waved and yelled while walking away. Enough that I walked away to get on the bus. No need for that drama first thing in the morning, just before a flight.Except that he then decided to follow, and scream at me for walking off with the keys. Threatened a 250 dollar fine. Dollar, you had me at hello, but you lost me at goodbye. Check on your team, they're not doing well.

Never rent from Dollar. On Sept 10th, 2023, I was among the many unfortunate customers who were left stranded at their Dulles Airport counter after being told that there were no cars available that night. We were informed that it would take up to 4 hours until they can get us cars, then after waited for merely 3 hours, we were told that it would take another 5-6 hours. The staff at the counter can't even process the refund and told me that I have to call the customer service the next day.When I phoned the customer service, they told me that it would take 7-10 days to process the refund! It has been 14 business days and I still haven't received my money back! Obviously this is a deceitful business practice. Dollar (Hertz) reservation system allows overbooking when, in fact, there were no cars available. Yet, the company continue to receive - and HOLD- customers' money. I just failed a complaint through BBB, because, it was a breach of contract as Dollar (Hertz) did not have cars to rent to people their promised them to and the company took their money away! Never again!

Horrible! We made a reservation 6 weeks ago and paid in full. When we showed up they did not have any cars and we could get on a wait list, but there were already 35 on the list. So we could come back the next day and try to get a car. The reservation agent thought the whole situation was funny and talked about a Seinfeld episode. Based on other reviews this is common. It looks like they just make reservations and hope there are cars, but think it's funny when you get screwed over.

Waiting for an hour is absurd. A line that goes out the building is absurd. I hope I never have to use this place again. The manager needs to adequately staff the place.

Without a doubt, the slowest & most inefficient rental car desk I've ever had the displeasure of doing business with. 0 stars if it were an option. Probably the gold standard of how to ruin a business. Arrived at 1620 on a Tuesday to the rental car center and waited nearly 90 minutes in line to be told there were no vehicles available. The one attendant averaged 15-20 minutes per customer until they ran out of cars. Highly do not recommend Hertz / Dollar / Thrifty rental car desk at IAD.
