STAY AWAY! Scam of a business. We prepaid using reward points and declined any additional insurance or roadside service but was billed for it upon return. Tried calling customer service and was told a dispute was filed but no follow up was ever provided. Extremely poor customer service. 0 stars wouldn't not recommend.

When we dropped off our rental at Thrifty Dulles, the staff drove us and our young children to the terminal in our rental vehicle rather than have us load into the shuttle bus in freezing weather. Very courteous and helpful especially when we have luggage and car seats!

The experience my family and I had at Dollar Thrifty Rentals was one which could only be described as misleading and detestable. When we originally arrived we were joined by about 20-30 other people waiting for rental cars all placed months in advance. we were then informed by a worker that they currently had no cars and we would have to wait 2 or more hours. We all agreed this was an absurd ask, as they should have reserved cars for all of us, and should’ve been ready to go the minute we all arrived. Many of us had further questions which after about 30 minutes of waiting were finally answered by the Manager. He explained that “Hertz” would be served first and then us. However, Hertz had about 2 busses full of people to come and then retrieve their cars. We were also never told about the order or priority in advance. Essentially this meant we would be waiting for hours until we would get our car. Considering this was Thanksgiving this was far from feasible. We ended up canceling not only due to the absurd amount of time we would need to wait, but also from the lack of authority and accountability taken by the manager and other workers. The lack of work ethic was embarrassing and should deter anyone else away, assuming it hasn’t already considering the 2 star review.

On Thanksgiving eve, they ran out of cars. I arrived on time for the pick up and was asked to sign a waiting list. There were over a dozen people waiting with waiter time (optimistic estimate) of 4 hours. No dinner with family after hanging not stun them for months. Awful company.

Renting a car is always anxiety inducing so people give terrible reviews. This was perfectly good service, I returned the car 2 hours late and they waived any fees, and they gave me a primer on how to use my electric car. Easy pick up and drop off

DO NOT RENT FROM THRIFTY OR ANY ASSOCIATED BUSINESS.THEY WILL SCAM YOU.Rented a car for two days. Service was bad and instructions were garbled. The inspection before we left with the car was Incredibly cursory. We had to point out damage in order to avoid charges for it later. Regardless an extra $90 charge appeared on our card a week later. When we called to ask what the charge was they told us “we can’t tell you”Update: the $90 charge was for fuel. After we returned the car with a full gas tank.Absolute garbage. We later rented from Alamo at the same airport and no such issues.

Worst rental car experience ever. Let me be specific:1. Took almost 2 hours to get the car2. Absolutely inefficient office management - paper waiting list where one should write own name to be served, single clerk serving the long waiting line, chaotic service3. Thrifty does not care to arrange the car according the reservation and when they do not have it they simply refuse to provide any replacement. Instead they suggest to cancel the reservation or to pay enormous extras for an "upgrade" that wasn't actually requested4. Extremely rude clerks - if you do not book directly from Thrifty, they consider you as a low priority clientBottom line - do not deal with this Thrifty office if you would like to keep calm and enjoy your stay in this area.

Where's the ZERO STARS button?Santosh at the customer service desk was eager to charge me, and then tell me to go wait aside, "It will just be a few minutes" until your car is delivered. GREAT! I get there, someone tells me they have waited over an hour. I go to ask...anyone.... and everyone says they cannot tell me if it's going to be more or less than 1 hour to get the car I reserved. Meanwhile I look out on a bounty of cars parked and available, but apparently not for me.I walked over to Alamo (yes, it was 1/4 mile or so) and rented from them. This was probably the worst customer experience I have experienced at ANY type of business.

Well just like most I booked with them, show up at 6pm and they casually tell me it would be 4-5 hours. I had specifically booked a gasoline car but after waiting for 4 hours all they had available was electric cars. I immediately cancelled and went to Alamo was in and out within 5 minutes although I had to pay a bit more.

Had to wait in line for over an hour. They attract you with an interesting price and then don’t have enough staff to manage the number of clients…The car smelled like an ashtray. They charge a 400$ cleaning fee for smoking in the car, but the next client still gets a stinky car.

Worst car rental experience EVER. Reserved an economy car (Chevy Spark) 3 weeks in advance through Expedia. Arrived & 1) ZERO were available 2) Midsize cars (only about 4 of them in the lot) all looked like big, gas guzzlersI asked a guy for help & he grumpily told me to go inside & ask for help. I go inside & I was told to go back outside & just wait until an economy car shows up ( like WTH?!!) A Honda HRV arrives & I was too tired to wait so I selected it. Employee who parked it walked right past me so I asked “where are the keys?” & he yells back while walking away..”THEY’RE IN THE CAR!”Rude employees & I wouldn’t trust them to have any car you reserve to be available.

I needed to rent a car one-way to NYC last minute, and Thrifty/Dollar were the ONLY options available. I'll admit when I read the reviews here, I was fearing the worst. But it ended up being a very pleasant experience.A couple of people were in line ahead of me, but the wait wasn't bad at all. The representative at the desk, Said, was helpful and friendly. I had reserved a 'Manager's Special' so I wasn't sure what I was going to be stuck with. The first car was an older Civic, which was a bit small for my needs and seemed to have pretty high mileage. I returned to the desk, and Said helped me switch to a different vehicle no questions asked. Didn't try to upsell me on coverage or other things I didn't need, which was a relief. All in all, it was a smooth experience. Same with dropoff in NYC. I wanted to leave a more positive review to give some hope to others who are worried by all of the other reviews - which, frankly, may be more accurate during very busy times. But on a quiet Monday after a long weekend, it was great!

Terrible company. The clerk told me toll charges only applied to days where I actually incurred tolls. That doesn’t appear to be the case as I’ve been charged for each day. The clerk also failed to prepay my gas tank even though we discussed it and agreed that I would prepay. This cost me precious time on return. I should’ve checked the receipt more closely but I trusted what I was told. Take your business elsewhere, if you can.

I was a bit apprehensive having read a bunch of bad reviews here and on other review sites about this location beforehand, but I didn't have any other options for a one-way rental to NYC at the last minute. Thankfully, I was pleasantly surprised by my experience at the location. It likely helped that I was renting on a weekday after a long weekend, so I didn't have an issue with big lines or with enough cars being ready. The lot seemed pretty full. The employee at the desk named Said who checked me in was very helpful and friendly. I reserved a car for a one-way trip, and upon realizing the first vehicle was not quite large enough, he allowed me to swap to a different vehicle no questions asked. I really appreciated it! Taking off one star, though, because both cars were a bit old - the first option was a '18 Civic with almost 80k miles. The second was slightly better: a '20 Elantra with 40k. Neither vehicle should really even be on their lot anymore, frankly. But hey - it got me to where I needed to go.

The car is nice, but the bait and switch pricing is terrible. I prepaid through expedia, and owed a $21.60 balance. They required a $200 security deposit, after they already have my credit card and insurance info. This was not communicated during the booking process. Additionally, the car when picked up had the charging door open, and one of the mirrors folder in, so it clearly wasn't checked out. Not using them again.
