“Very creative store that's a great idea for art teachers, artists, or people with general art related hobbies! However, I'd be more open to accepting donations. Doing it by appointment seems rather odd, If it were me, I'd take whatever I could and sort it that way. There were a lot of really great items. However, some of it seemed a bit useless. I do pride myself in finding ways to recycle old things into art, but some of this stuff could serve no further purposes. Either way, it's a great idea, and a great store!”

“My favorite place visited during my trip, staff was friendly and kind. The shop was designed well and item’s featured were done great, lots of things to choose from and options available. For the size of the store compared to other large boxy art places back home this shop was definitely better than them and I felt more welcomed and one with art here. Came back twice during my 5 day stay in DC, and it was nice for them to have student discounts as well!!”

“I am grateful for Clayworks Supplies. In my years as a potter, Clayworks always has what I need. As an added bonus, Ian and the staff are a wealth of information on working with clay, from throwing, hand building, firing and glazing. All in one easily accessible location.”

“I was hesitant at first. We were in town visiting family and I wanted to stop by a quilt shop. I found a few in the area and went to each website. Artistic Artifacts website mentioned fabrics from Africa and India which I am completely unfamiliar with and honestly not super excited about. I really didn’t think I would find what I was looking for. Boy was I wrong. They had so many cute fun fabrics and I found myself struggling to only choose a couple. On top of that the staff were very friendly. Elizabeth welcomed both me and my two little ones wholeheartedly. I strongly suggest visiting this store if you get the chance! Both of my kids refused to leave unless they got some fabric too. We all had a great shopping experience and the prices were amazing!!”

“Probably the best place in DC for paper and origami and book binding materials. Not a massive selection, but definitely the best in DC.Staff is helpful and really friendly!”

“Went in last week looking for a toy but without any specifics. Andrew listened to my description of what I needed, asked a few good questions, and gave me half a dozen great suggestions. I ended up with the magic sketchpad and it's EXACTLY what I needed. I couldn't be happier.”

“UPDATE: Just want to give Ben at Plaza Art in Bethesda a shout out. The day after I posted the review below, he reached out to let me know that (1) not all the materials I ordered were available but that he put in an order from another store and that if the materials weren't in when I picked up my order, they would be in shortly after, and (2) he let me know that he reached out the people who can control the online coupon in the hopes that they could help me (no guarantee). Thanks, Ben for circling back and to see what you could do. Whether I get the coupon or not, doesn't matter, just grateful for the attempted assist!ORIGINAL POST: Bought supplies for a drawing and painting class at Glen Echo Park. Instructor sent an email stating that kits were available at the Bethesda and Rockville stores.. nope, not this specific kit. Had to order each (30) item online. Signed up as a new customer for the e-newsletter and $15 off coupon for new purchases. Email confirmation sent with coupon code. Tried to apply it and was told it was invalid. Purchased supplies anyway and called store immediately to see if coupon code could be applied. Was told, "no, we can't control anything through the online store." $300+ on supplies. No interest by staff to help me out and figure a work around. Cancel order, try again? Take order over phone? Nope. Frustrating experience.”

“We arrived here and the tall gentleman was very customer service oriented and showed us where to find our crafting beads. The bonus was that all of the crafting beads were 50% off, YAY!!We also had an opportunity to explore and found that they have a full end-cap of an aisle dedicated to sticky adhesives for wall (or other) items; from Command to 3M Brands, they have it all. There is a beautiful 75% off clearance section that is absolutely well stocked with a great selection of beautiful items. All Wall Decor is currently 50% off this week so that worked out VERY well for us. We will certainly come here again. It is the closest location to Washington, DC....go figure. They definitely need to explore opening one up closer to DC and/or in DC.”

“Super cute store in old town Alexandria. Meets all your needs for birthday, anniversary or special occasion cards. Lots of stationary, craft supplies and even fun games/toys! “Great selection of wrapping paper. The card selection needs an update. Safeway has a better selection of birthday cards which is odd. Everything else the store offers is top quality.”

“The entrance is on Jennifer Street NW and a bit tucked away. The store is wholly underground. It is surprisingly bigger than expected, with a vast assortment of home decor and seasonal items. I parked across the street in an underground garage across Wisconsin Avenue for only $6.50 for all-day parking. You can try your luck with street parking. They had a ton of Christmas clearance at 70% off. I bought a bunch of DIY paint canvases at $3 each--what a deal! They have several self-checkout registers and attendants to assist you.”
