“I’ve been a gym rat since I was 19. Being a gym rat at big box gyms is great when you’re young, have no health issues, and no injuries. But fast forward two decades, several injuries, and life changes, and suddenly someone yelling at you to do handstand pushups while your carpal tunnel syndrome reaches its limit is no longer the vibe.
I was really nervous about joining a gym again as a late 30s, injured, out of shape person. When I had my consult with Lauren at Rugged Terrain, I immediately felt at ease. She asked about my goals, my experiences, and if I had injuries to consider. I’ve been training with Lauren for 4 months now (as well as attending the occasional group class) and it’s been amazing. My workouts are tailored, all the members are friendly and supportive, and I feel confident in my strength again. I actually look forward to my workouts now instead on dreading how I might be falling short or how stupid I might look modifying a movement.
Long story short: these folks are legit and will help you get in/stay in shape for longevity. No exacerbating injuries, no body shaming, no toxic gym culture. Just some great people that wanna lift heavy things and cheer each other on.”
