“I’ll be honest, I was a bit worried after I read reviews, but I had a good experience. The front desk staff was friendly. The room was very clean and the bed comfortable. The location is great, just a short drive to the downtown area with shops and restaurants. I didn’t use the fitness center or pool, but both were open I was told. Nor did I eat breakfast so I can’t speak to those. My only complaint was a loud neighbor, but that can’t be helped.”
“We've stayed at The Tides Inn twice now and it's a lovely place to spend some time with the family! The clientele seems to trend more mature but if you are there with kids it is still very family friendly for the families who prefer a little slower pace.
Check In: Amy was lovely! It was very easy to register, Amy gave my kid a complementary stuffy that he IMMEDIATELY attached to and it was so cute to see him take it everywhere for the remainder of the stay. The lobby is clean and well organized. The restrooms are clean and easy to access and they have a family friendly restroom as well.
Recreation: There is a chess board front and center in front of a gorgeous wall of windows to look out at the property. Inside the lobby they have games that you can play, borrow, take to your room etc. The lawn games are also great for a kid when you don't want to be in the pool. The pool is wonderful! No lifeguard on duty so swim at your own risk. The pool attendants are very on it and make sure to keep us hydrated and help if anything is needed. There are bikes that you can borrow on site, including a trailer for kids who might not be able to ride themselves. My kid had a blast being trailered around. We also love the things available to borrow like the paddle boards, kayaks, and canoes, all included with the resort fee.
In the Room: With it being an older establishment, the structures can be a little dated, however the amenities are still great. The bathrooms are spacious and clean, the beds are very comfortable, and we chose a room with a balcony and it was great to see the water and get some easy fresh air. The TV options are a little limited, however they did have the option to connect with google cast which allowed us to use our own streaming or play YouTube for in room entertainment.
Food: We checked in on a Sunday which was a little tricky for dining options in town but we made it work! After the last stay I felt that it was important that I brought our own snack options for the kid, and a lot of fresh food for us. I will say that I think he lack of fresh food (think freshly cut apples, oranges, fruits etc, even simple salads) is lacking so I make sure to bring some fresh food that I know I'd like. It's rough to live off chicken tenders and fries. The bars inside are fully stocked and Dean makes great drinks. The breakfast is nice too, the biscuit is perfect, and the waffles are great. Some of their options come off as trying to hard but not hitting the mark but if you stick with the basics they do good. Also the head waiter could win a Travis Kelce lookalike contest so that was a fun surprise. Also, if you want to eat in town, they will drive you and pick you up to certain restaurants, they have a list up front of where they go. I thought that was a wonderful feature.
Overall, as a family who prefers a quieter experience, but still lots of pool time and play time, this is a great location. We heard they're doing some remodeling to their older structures and I'm excited to see how those turn out. We're excited to come back next summer!”
