“I hate visiting the "big box" home stores like Home Depot and Lowe's. Don't get me wrong, they have great stuff. I just don't like the crowds and the parking. This is why I like to shop at Pleasants Hardware (I go to both the Midlothian and Powhatan locations). The aisles are easily marked so everything is easy to find, and if not, sales associates are always more than willing to help and give advice. What's really nice, the prices are low...no big overhead, no Tv commercials to pay for, no big buildings to cool or heat...and there is always plenty of parking right in front of their stores! I love the "Mom and Pop" store feel of Pleasants Hardware.”

“I love you Sneed's, thanks for the Christmas cheer. Yes, obviously the trees are *slightly* pricier here but it's very silly to complain about a small business not being able to compete with a corporation like Lowe's in the age of Temu trash and AI slop. I'm beyond grateful there are small businesses to support and the price difference is MORE than worth it because their trees are healthy, fragrant, and beautiful, even the ones with sparse branches. All the employees are incredibly kind and helpful. When we arrived, I got a lesson on all the different types of trees (I did not go with an Old Fashioned this year bc I'm nostalgic for Firs but they're gorgeous and I might give it a try next!) The person who trimmed and loaded our tree did an amazing job and happily accepted my special request, and the cashier in the extremely cute and festive Christmas cottage was really nice too. I left in such a great mood with maybe my best tree yet. Thank you.”

“Beautiful shop to treat yourself to a few exotic tropicals, philodendron red, black and gold philodendron etc.

Or feast your eyes on a variety of mini to large orchids. There were some mini orchid colors I hadn't seen at other local stores, such as pale creamy yellow, chocolate, etc. 4 pack of annuals is around $3.99 (as of 6-8-24) great variety!

Many vines as well such as moonflower, rudbeckia (black eyed Susan vine), and clematis.

A few natives plants such as Mountain mint but majority of outdoor plants are non-native annuals. All their plants look super healthy too which is very impressive considering the volume of plants offered, everything looks extremely well cared for. To me, this is a Hallmark if a business that is invest in offering healthy plants to the public and tending to it's inventory. Also extremely supportive in yes. Of offering care advise and friendly. I am adding this local beauty to my saved favorites to visit in RVA when I get another itch to purchase more house plants. Many are outside so I'm curious to see how it transforms over the seasons. This would be a beautiful place to meet for a plant club or series of classes that provide the public with a resource to learn more about caring for tropicals and exotics (even orchids). A new gem, to find for me in the RVA area.”

He then found stock across the river. We went there and purchased 3 packages! He went above and beyond.”
