“Update after exactly 1 year in: This gym continues to blow me away for the next two reasons:
1. Not only have I PR’d in every lift (thanks Roxy and James!) over the last year, but I’ve also:
Got my first:
- Kipping pull up
- strict pull up
- chest to bar
- double under
- kipping hand stand push up
- 24 inch box jump
After a year, we had to make the very tough decision to leave and it’s so hard to say goodbye to our family and friends at this box.
2. My husband and I have truly became CrossFit athletes at this box, and we know we will always have a home at OP. Di, Jim, James, Sarah, Justin, Amanda, Chas, Ashley(s), Roxy, Bomba, David, Jess, Corey, Sean, Sandi, and the rest of the team - Thank you for your mentoring and coaching over the past year. We have grown so much because of you guys and you got us through some of the hardest times .. and the best times! ❤️
This team is TOP KNOTCH. If you’re on this page, just give them a shot and you’ll see why ??
10 months in: After a less than favorable experience at our previous CrossFit gym in Hampton, my husband and I were hesitant to step into another box. CrossFit Oyster Point completely transformed our outlook, not only restoring our faith in the sport but also redefining what a fitness community should feel like. A huge part of our positive experience comes from the incredible warmth and leadership of the owners, Dianne (Di) and Jim Koske. From day one, they welcomed us with open arms, taking the time to listen to our concerns and making us feel at home. Their genuine care for every member is evident in every interaction—they go above and beyond to create a safe, supportive, and uplifting environment.
The coaches, handpicked by Di and Jim are also exceptional—knowledgeable, attentive, and deeply invested in each member’s success. They ensure workouts are tailored to your fitness level while still challenging you to grow. Safety and form are prioritized, which was a refreshing change for us. The community at CrossFit Oyster Point is another highlight. Di and Jim have cultivated a space where camaraderie thrives, and every member feels valued. Whether you’re a seasoned athlete or new to CrossFit, you’re embraced as part of the family. The positivity and encouragement here are infectious, creating a space where we look forward to every workout. Beyond workouts, this box prioritizes the community aspect of CrossFit; there is always a fun event to look forward to or a chance give back to the community.
CrossFit Oyster Point has set the gold standard for what CrossFit can and should be. Di and Jim’s passion, kindness, and dedication to their members make this gym truly special. If you’re looking for a place that emphasizes health, community, and personal growth, look no further! Thank you, Di and Jim, for creating a gym that feels like home for my husband and I. You’ve reignited our love for CrossFit, and we are so grateful for the positive impact you’ve had on lives and so many others in our community.”

“Very positive, encouraging, communal atmosphere. The workouts are intense but not overwhelmingly so. The trainers care about you! Love this place because of the PEOPLE!”
“Jermaine at One Life Fitness is awesome. He’s always super friendly and welcoming every time I come in, and he really sets the tone for a positive gym environment. You can tell he actually cares about the members and goes out of his way to help whenever needed.
Whether it’s answering questions, checking people in quickly, or just having a good attitude, he makes the experience way better. Definitely one of the reasons I enjoy coming to this location!”

“G R E A T gym. Inclusive, affordable, flexible. Lots of schedule options. Options to work out with a group or individually. Family friendly. Lots of fun events throughout the year to get gym members, their families, and community members involved and connected.”
“I was so nervous to join a gym, and my friend recommended this one. Everyone is friendly and supportive. It may be small, but for those who are shy, it is the perfect place with the best people. There is a lot of equipment and even private classes you can join. My favorite is playing Wall Ball in the mornings!
You can even get 24-hour access if you are on 2nd or 3rd shift!”
“Love working with Jo, I didn't think I could do it. She made me feel very comfortable and give me that push that I needed. I enjoy coming to workout. Thanks for seeing something inside of me. The ladies in my class are truly wonderful. Thank You JO”

“This is the most clean and aesthetically pleasing gym that I have ever been to! It has all the equipment to successfully body build, powerlift, stretch, and improve cardiovascular health. The atmosphere is great and the fellow gym goers are the nicest! I always felt safe going at night, as it’s a 24/7 gym. There are cameras at the front to check on your car for safety. The supplement and gym wear closet that can be bought from during the day is priced appropriately. The music that is played is oftentimes so great that it’s not a big deal if I forget headphones. I’ve never found a gym so great! There is no question, this is the gym to help meet all aspects of health and wellness that are involved in your fitness journey!”
“I truly appreciated the professionalism during our first meeting. We’re so fortunate to have the opportunity for our son to train with Coach Sean, and I’m excited to see his progress in the months ahead. If you have a child involved in sports, I highly recommend looking into this program.”

“I go here 5-7 days a week. Super clean and I don't feel intimidated. Everyone is kind. Kat is amazing. She is the reason my husband and I go to the gym on our own now.”
“THIS has been above and beyond a godsend, for my special needs son after school. The inclusion of the staff and the other youth is humbling and beautiful. Everyone is professional, and family oriented, and I could not have asked for better group for my son to be a part of. The other kids just run up to the staff as family, and they interact like family. That sense of safety and peace of mind as an on looking parent shows me how genuine they really are. My only regret, is not knowing about their services sooner.”

“Best CrossFit, functional fitness, high-intensity gym in the area. I have hit PRs in all my power lifts, Olympic lifts, unbroken gymnastic movements, and everything in between even after 15 years of training. Enough about me; let me share what I have seen in this gym. If this sounds like you or falls somewhere in between, then stop by and see for yourself.Athletes aged 4 to 84, from never having touched a weight to experienced CrossFitters. I have seen athletes get their first pull-up, box jump, muscle-up, to athletes getting their 10th unbroken muscle-up, and hitting lifetime PRs in power and Olympic lifting. Athletes come here and pass firefighter, police, and military fitness tests. Athletes come for prehab and rehab from various surgeries. Adaptive athletes train next to everyone. Athletes up to nine months pregnant and just after birth train here. Coaches hold newborns so new parents can still train. Children hang out together in the kids' room while parents focus on themselves for 1 hour of their busy day. The coaches do the same program as the members and participate in class workouts. High school and collegiate athletes train here in the offseason. Coaches provide nutritional counseling and meal prepping for interested athletes. Athletes typically spend 3 to 10 hours a week here; just show up and commit to 1 hour at a time, you will not be disappointed. The athletes are part of a family and hang out together, seek advice/recommendations, and hold each other accountable. If you want to hit PRs, become a better athlete, or jump-start your health and fitness journey, then stop by and see if it’s a good fit.”

“No complaints as usual. Just bring a robe if you plan on showering because there are no change booths due to it being an older location. But the showers are nice and hot. ?????”
“With tons of construction going on around this place it is a maze to get in here, but out of a gauntlet of construction trucks emerges a decent parking lot and modern building called the Riverview Gymnastics Center. This is where Newport News Parks and Recreation offers affordable dance and gymnastics instruction. The gym seems fully equipped with everything a student would need to begin mastery of gymnastics. The class for 3 and 4 year olds has 2 very hands on instructors. Parents and observers sit outside the gymnasium and view through safety glass. The premises is staffed at entry and seems very clean and well managed. I imagine this is a hidden gem in Newport News for those who want to pursue dance or gymnastics instruction.”
“The Sports Zone Navy Gym is a great place to work out. It has good equipment, plenty of space, and a motivating environment. The staff and people there are friendly, and it’s a solid spot whether you’re lifting weights, doing cardio, or just trying to stay healthy and consistent. I always enjoy training there.”
“Top tier coaching and staff.. I truly was grateful to join for the a last minute drop in. Practical tips and advice that had me walking away with an advantage. If you’re scared to join, trust me, just join in one and take risk.”
