We had to euthanize our dear max and everyone recommended to go for banfield. I called banfield and a had a conversation with a girl named naemul and not only she was helpful in accommodating but also extremely empathetic. I was going through the hardest time of my life and her approach to take it was outstanding. She comforted me, made sure she listened and responded so well. She tried her best to comfort me and it will stay with me. Literally felt like talking to a therapist. I highly recommend banfield if you’re choosing to let your child go. The overall experience was very smooth.

This place used to be awesome for our dog. Made us feel like they really cared for so long but the last time we picked up our dog and he was soaked with his own pee. They told us two different stories, one that he didnt pee in the back and one that he did. First they tried to blame it on the shots but you could smell it. He has never come out to us covered like this from his shot fluids. I don't bring it up to have you argue with me over obvious pee on my dog. I understand accidents happen but I feel anyone's pet needs one last check before you hand it to the owner. We were told you checked him before handing him over but with pee all over his paws and arms I can't really say I believe you. What changed here? Why did you need to argue over this and maybe help my dog instead? Our dog did not come here for anything to do with uti or urine issues, just a normal check up. I dont really expect him coming out covered in pee.

Charges 90 dollars for an exam where I get a flu shot for my dog and they say I have to get another booster flu shot in a few weeks as it’s a 2 part shot. They want another 90 dollars now to do the second part of the shot. To do a single freaking shot. They absolutely do not care about animals every experience on here is true do not come here. So many vets in the area that would never scam people like that. They deserve 0 stars.

This location is horrendous. My pups first visits and the vet who wouldn’t even come in the room misdiagnosed my pup. My second opinion at the same vet only resulted in a tech who based Banfield continually to me and a vet who tried to convince me to come to her stand alone practice. I ended up at another location where my pup was properly diagnosed and the entire team could teach the Reston location a ton of lessons. Do yourself a favor and stay clear of the Reston location.

I have been waiting for test results for two weeks to determine if the lump on my pups neck is cancerous and the kicker is I called earlier this week and THEY ARE IN as of THREE days ago… But only the doctor can call to tell me the results since these tests do not show up on the app… and I still haven’t heard anything!

I’ve been a Banfield customer for over six years and have kept insurance on my dog, Coco, that entire time(i do have another fur baby under the same insurancebut the issue has alwaysbeen with Coco). Throughout the years, they’ve repeatedly referred to him as a female, despite me correcting them on multiple occasions. I let it slide because mistakes happen—but after my most recent visit, I can no longer overlook the lack of attention and care.
Two days ago, I brought Coco in because he wasn’t feeling well. I was pushed—by three different staff members—to approve over $1,100 worth of tests for a 6-pound Yorkie. When the vet finally called me, she continued referring to my male dog as “she,” even after I corrected her more than once. Instead of acknowledging the mistake, she seemed irritated and rushed through the conversation. She clearly had no interest in answering my questions or easing my concerns.
It honestly made me stop and think—how many times have they misdiagnosed him over the years? How can I trust that any of the medications or treatments they've charged me for were even necessary if the vet examining him can’t even tell he’s a male dog? It raises serious doubts about the quality of care and attention they’re providing.
At this point, I do not feel comfortable or confident bringing any of my pets here again. The one bright spot is Frankie—he is amazing and by far the best part of that location. There’s also a very kind female employee (I wish I remembered her name), but sadly, the rest of the team has lost my trust.

Negative stars should be a standard considering this interaction.
I came in with my service dog in training for an ear infection and rabies update, and they treated me like a dig abuser because I present with autism and ptsd.
After they called me the next morning before they were even open I was struck by the way they treated me so I called back to invite them to view Hugo's social media pages so they can see for themselves the wonderful life I provide my dog. They left me on hold for 20 minutes, and when they picked up again, they promptly put me back on hold.
Terrible public relations from this group. Take your pet somewhere else. These people should be ashamed of how they treat the rest of us, considering the exorbitant prices they charge. I'm literally eating food shelf food this month so I can take care of my dog. At least treat me like a human being.
Very rude.

Do yourself a favor and go to Banfield in Fox Mill Shopping Center or the one on Elden street, or anywhere else. Don't be someone who reads this, goes here anyways, and then regrets not heeding this advice when you have a terrible experience (an inevitability here). The lack of basic customer service and ostensible care for pets and their owners is very strange and confusing.

If I could do negative stars, I would. Please do not take your pet to this location. To say they’ve gone downhill would be an understatement. Believe me when I tell you, do not go to this location. I started bringing one of my dogs to this location 12 years ago, and have been bringing my family animals to this banfield for numerous years prior to that, so to write this review, means I’m truly disgusted at the treatment I received. My dog was experiencing bloody diarrhea, banfield was closed so I rushed him to the emergency animal hospital. They advised I return back to banfield if things don’t improve. I called Reston banfield the next morning, and they told me I could do a drop off appointment for my dog to be seen further. For the record, my dog has been seen at the Reston location before, we prefer a different location as our primary, but he has visited Reston on a number of occasions due to availability. Once I got there, I was told my dog was too anxious to be a drop off, he didn’t want to go into the kennel, and asked if I could do an in room appointment. I agreed and was flexible to this. We waited a very long time in room, at least an hour, and then were told the vets were too busy to see us, could we come back later. I agreed, went to work, called back a few hours later to check if we should come back in which I was told yes. Took off work AGAIN to bring my dog back. I arrived quickly over to the Reston location, to which I was reprimanded by the front staff, saying I should have come back an hour and half earlier. ???? A specific time was never communicated to me, they made ME wait in office, then told me they didn’t have time for me and sent me back home with no treatments being done and I also called to check if I should return and was given the green light so I’m not sure why I was received with this type of attitude. I once again waited some time, and was finally seen. The vet I saw should be fired, she does not care about the well being of animals. She acted as if I was an inconvenience to her, she was snappy, rude, and denied medically necessary care to my dog. She claimed he was too big to do necessary tests and likely wouldn’t sit still. Once again, ???? Aren’t you a vet? Shouldn’t you have experience in large breed dogs? He’s a Great Dane lab puppy, not a horse. Yes he was anxious and in pain, but this isn’t a reason to deny him care. And I’ve never once heard this type of excuse from a vet. And no vet has EVER said he has behavioral problems. She offered no actionable solutions, ran only one test that was negative, was condescending, patronizing and apathetic when I asked “what could be causing this?” “How should I fix it? He is having bloody diarrhea multiple times a day, I’m concerned, he’s in pain, I’m a nervous wreck and not sleeping”. She truly said “I don’t know” with no further advice or next steps. I advocated for my dog to at the very least to get fluids which she begrudgingly agreed to, but again wanted to forgo due to his size.. which is insane to me.
Next day I was able to get him in to see his primary vet at a different banfield location. Turns out he has a bacterial infection, and had to be put on multiple medications to fix. So the fact Reston did nothing, tested for little to nothing, provided no actionable medical guidelines or advice, gaslit me and dismissed me while insinuating I was over reacting regarding his symptoms, answered none of my questions, sent him home with no medications or even relief is truly neglectful. Reston turned their backs on a very sick puppy and enraged this dog momma. Please take it from me, if you love your animals, run far, far away from this sh*t show of a practice.

Have been with Banfield of Reston for the past 14 years and 3 pups. Good, kind and attentive vets and nurses, convenient online scheduling and med records system. Recommend!
