I have been a customer of the Public Storage on Mercator Drive in Reston since June 2024 with Terry as the Resident Manager. I rented a 15x20 unit initially for several months and currently rent a 15x10 unit. Terry has always been very professional in his dealings with me and has been helpful setting up my initial account; closing the first account, re-opening the 2nd account, etc. The building, individual storage units, parking lot and area surrounding the building has always been clean and I have seen Terry around the area frequently sweeping the area to keep it that way. The 3 garage doors for loading & unloading have always worked well and the pedestrian door w/coded entry has always worked fine. There is also a restroom in the building for clients which came in handy over the summer as we were drinking a lot of water during the move. The building has 2 elevators – not OTIS brand – and until July 2024 they both worked fine & were easy to operate with your personal code. Since July however, one elevator has been out of service, waiting on a replacement part. My move out of the initial 15x20 in August 2024 unit was not really affected time-wise by this inconvenience probably having more to do with the efficiency of my moving company, Express Moving & Storage of Alexandria, than anything else but if there are multiple clients moving in or out, it can be a real nuisance. This is not something that Terry has a lot of control over as the repair comes out of Corporate; nevertheless, it is the one reason I’ve given 4 stars in my rating in lieu of 5.

Really easy and friendly staff. They don’t bother you, I love being able to just come in and move my stuff around if need be. Staff is super friendly and the environment is great, very clean and everything needs your access code so I know my stuff is safe here.

Rented a unit here for a month and the process could not have been easier. Everything is done online. The facility is clean and well maintained. Super easy moving my things in and out. Shout out to Terry for always answering any question and being very helpful!

Unfortunately, this location has earned a 1 star rating because 1 of the 2 elevators has been out of order. This has made moving and storing horrendous. I spoke with the manager and he said that the elevator is damaged and that the repairs may take years to fix. Moving on the weekend now is insane having to share 1 elevator with so many people, moving takes forever up and down with only 1 person and their stuff to share 1 working elevator.
Fix the elevator and I will change the review.
Additionally, the manager lied about rates, saying that rates posted online never go down. That was false. Rates are increased over the weekend and then lower during the week. So that was a lie.

The Reston Public Storage location provides consistently clean storage facilities and excellent customer service. I'm a repeat customer and my family relies on this facility to bridge the summer gap between semesters for my college age kids. Terry is always so helpful and pleasant to work with! Highly recommend for both short-term and long-term storage needs!
