Scheduled an appointment for an eye exam, and was told my insurance was ineligible. Immediately called my Insurance to confirm eligibility. They confirmed I am eligible. Called back to follow up, and myeyedr told me I’d have to pay out of pocket for the eye exam. I explained that I had received confirmation that I am over the 12months since my last exam and am eligible. Ended with the cancellation of my appointment.
I was then called back by Myeyedr to be told there is another appointment available today, but I would have to pay out of pocket if I couldn’t figure out what the issue was with my insurance. Over an hour on the phone with my insurance later, and him calling multiple locations to try and get to the bottom of the issue however no resolution was made. It seems that there is an open claim by MyeyeDr that has remained open, yet I haven’t had an exam with them since May of 2024. My insurance provider requested to speak to a supervisor and was left with no help or resolution.
At this point I had no choice but to either pay out of pocket or cancel the appointment. Since I pay for insurance it doesn’t seem fair to have to pay for the exam out of pocket.
So I called them to cancel the appointment, and their last treat to me was to restrict my ability to make future appointments. I was told I will only be able to do walk ins in the future.
This and having to wait 5 hours for them to get prescription lenses put into frames (both bought by Myeyedr), I’ll be finding a new eye dr.

Max, at the Reston, VA location, was very helpful! He repaired my broken frames quickly (which I hadn't bought from My Eye Doctor), and was extremely helpful in recommending new frames. My face shape makes it difficult to find frames that look good and all of the frames he recommended were a good choice!

Tara was amazing! Super knowledgeable on all the things from the best frame shape for my face shape to the finishing touches on the lens itself! She educated me on an anti blue light option that's clear so it doesn't reflect the blue light--Never knew that existed! Thanks for all of your help Tara! It was fun!

Thanks to the quick response by the Patient Relations team, I have received a ful refund of the amount in dispute. The location has friendly staff and I would go back there in future. My earlier review was based on the confusion with the insurance payment. While the action of patient relations team deserves full 5-stars, I am holding one back since this entire episode could have been avoided if the insurance information was correctly assessed before ordering the glasses.

Do not go to this location or any other location of MyEyeDr. Find another provider. These guys get you to order glasses saying that insurance will cover a large part of the bill, and then send you a big bill later saying that insurance denied the claim. And they will not admit that they did anything wrong and give you any discount to make up for the error they made in checking with insurance. The store says they can't do anything and when you call their 800 number, they say you have to pay. I ordered my glasses based on their sales rep saying that my insurance will cover over 63% of the bill. They took some time to check the insurance and then gave this information so I thought they are giving me correct information. Six months later I get a bill for that remaining amount running into a few hundreds of dollars, and when I delayed my response (who wants to move quickly on a bill like this), I started getting calls from a debt collection agency!

Easy in and out. Immediately was seen and did the eye tests and lab work and went straight to the doctor. Very nice and friendly and had great service.

Tara was wonderful! she spent so much time helping me find the perfect frames and was so honest, attentive, and helpful! Max was also so friendly and helpful, especially for me with a baby in a tow!

We went to MyEyeDr in reston for our annual checkup and met Dr Ali, he is very knowledgeable and informative. Our exams were explained to us well and we felt assured.
The staff at the reston branch is excellent, special mention to Phil, he was very kind and patient, he answered all our questions with a smile and waited patiently while we browsed around the whole store. He understood our insurance, did our appointment and tried to accommodate us at the earliest. Thankyou all.

My father and I had a great experience at this MyEyeDr location. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed and well taken care of.
Dr. Bertomeu was outstanding, very professional. He made the exams easy to understand and added a fun, relaxed energy that made the visit surprisingly enjoyable.
Tina, helped my dad with his glasses and was so kind and patient throughout the fitting process. She made sure he was comfortable and happy with his new frames.
Phil, helped me with my glasses and was just as fantastic. He was quick to assist, very detail-oriented, and made sure I had everything I needed.
Everyone we interacted with was friendly, helpful, and clearly cared about making our visit a great one. We really appreciate the amazing service and would absolutely recommend this location

MyEyeDr - Reston (Fountain Dr near Whole Foods). We had scheduled eye exams; the doctors were thorough and kind. I clearly asked the technician for an estimate only-not ready to order. She proceeded with measurements and seemed irritated. During my wife's turn, her glasses were set on the desk with red test marks still on the lenses, which felt careless. As longtime customers, we expect basic courtesy and the option to compare prices. Doctors: excellent. Sales process: please respect estimate requests. Will not ho back even though we like the doctors

My son has had difficulty with contacts. Last year we tried them out but he decided against them because they were hard to get in. Fast forward to this year. We decided to try again. Max taught the contacts class. He was great! Max even put a contract on himself so my son could see how it was done. He took extra time and was patient. We couldn’t have asked for a better teacher!
