This was the only place my grandmother stayed that I felt comfortable leaving her in. The staff is the best I've seen and her nurse genuinely cared about her and wanted to learn about her life as much as possible while making sure all of us were taken care of while visiting.

The last nine days of my wife's life were spent under the care of Dr. Marc Flickinger and the outstanding staff at the Bon Secours Hospice House. I have never been around a more caring and professional group of individuals who not only provided the medical care for my wife but also outstanding supportive care to the family. On several occasions both Dr. Flickinger and members of his nursing team spent additional time either at the facility or on the phone providing detailed explanations on Claire's treatment and condition to me and other members of our family. They are the best team of doctors, nurses and staff I have encountered during my 26 year military career and my 29 year post-military life. .

In all my years of nursing I've never experienced a place like this. I wish I had known of it when my husband was diagnosed. Nurses are attentive. Ratio 1:1, dining... individual choice, serene grounds. My sister praises the doctor. Thank you for making her end of life a smoother transition.

On behalf of the entire family we would like to extend our sincere appreciation and gratitude to the entire staff of the Hospice House! The entire staff went above and beyond to provide the comfort and care not only to my mother, but to all of the family and friends that came to visit. A special thank you to Dr. Flickinger, Rose and Norma as each of you played a special part in the care of both of my parents in their time of need. This is not to overshadow the care that was given by all of the staff as everyone was great. Thank you so much so what you do for families in their time of need. Respectfully submitted the Lamberth family (Judy).

Dr. Flickenger ordered the nurse to cut off my mothers oxygen, without telling me, no one called to even tell me they were doing that. I found out through a family friend that was visiting my mother at the time via text. (This was my mothers wishes I was told)The coordinator lady in charge was completely rude and told me I wasn’t being there enough for my mother, and called the police on me and my family at home, because I threatened to sue the facility. The police showed up at my residence, as there was a false claim reported by the hospice coordinator. They also blocked me from calling them as well, because they felt “threatened”. Who wouldn’t be mad the fact that their loved one is just being dosed up with morphine, and then their oxygen cut completely off without warning the family?I would never recommend this facility, it seems all they care about is money and body counts! This place is a joke!

My dad just spent his final days here. I can not speak highly enough about the friendly, caring, genuine staff that work here. They really made our visits as comfortable as they could possibly be. They took such amazing care of my dad, I know he would have been pleased. He wanted to be at home but they made it as home like as they could. My mom, family and friends all expressed their gratitude with him being in such a loving facility. Thank you all! Doctors, Nurses, CNAs, Chaplain, and maintenance staff and beyond were all amazing.

This place is tucked away off Old Bon Air Road. If you're not driving slowly and paying attention, you will pass it. The pro is this place is very, very, very, very clean and well kept. That's about it where the pros end. The cons are as follows: unfriendly staff, the place is locked down like a prison, only two visitors at a time, and they keep your loved one drugged like a junkie. We were told at least a month left before my family member dies. After less than a day here, we were told my family member would die any day. This place could be five star worthy. I rated it one star due to the fact that only two people can visit a dying family member. The other reason is that this place is locked down like a prison. If you arrive and there's already two people visiting, then you have to sit in the car and wait. Nothing like waiting in the sweltering, humid weather. There's a door to exit to the patio/garden area, but there must be someone else in the room to let you back in since the door closes behind you. To the administration, doors should be unlocked during the visiting hours and more than two people should be able to visit their dying family member at a time. Staff need to be friendly. No one smiles. Possibly due to the nature of the business of heavily drugging people until they succumb.
