I had a mixed experience at Caliber. The initial customer service was great—the estimator was helpful, professional, and made me feel like a priority from the moment I dropped off my car. I let her know the vehicle was also having trouble shifting, and she immediately advised me to get a rental for safety, which I appreciated. The front desk staff weren’t particularly warm but were knowledgeable and efficient.
The body work itself was completed quickly and looked great. The paint was slightly off, but given that my car is 10 years old, I wasn’t too concerned. I also appreciated being kept updated throughout that part of the process. Another major plus: Caliber worked directly with my insurance, so I didn’t have to deal with any back-and-forth, which made the process much smoother for me.
The bigger issue came after the car was returned to me still having the same shifting problems I’d originally reported. We brought it back, and the manager took the time to test drive it, confirmed the issue, and said a mechanic would take a closer look. I assumed that meant it was being worked on. After a week with no updates, I called and was told they couldn’t find anything wrong and that the car was ready for pickup.
At that point, Caliber informed me that they had been advised by my insurance company to have the vehicle taken to the dealership for a diagnostic. I followed that recommendation, and the dealership concluded that the transmission needed to be replaced.
It’s still unclear to me whether Caliber handles mechanical issues beyond basic repairs—they did replace the AC condenser—but in this case, it seemed they weren’t equipped or willing to address the transmission problem. What was most frustrating is that the car was returned to me as if it were road-ready, despite the drivability issue being acknowledged earlier and never fully communicated after the diagnostic.
The invoice also showed that pre- and post-repair scans were completed, so I’m not sure how the transmission issue wasn’t flagged.
Bottom line: Caliber did a good job on the body work, kept me updated during that part of the process, and handled insurance coordination smoothly. But the lack of clarity and follow-through on the mechanical side left me disappointed. I’d recommend them for cosmetic repairs, but suggest confirming early what they can and can’t handle if mechanical issues are involved.

Caliber did a fantastic job on my 2020 Lexus GX460 after a pickup truck ran a redlight and ripped off the frontend. Looks just like new! They told me what was going on throughout the process and worked with my insurance company very seamlessly.
