I was going to purchase a vehicle from carmax Clermont but after finding out that they pick and choose the policies the do and the statement they do what is right. Sometimes an apology and help is all that is necessary not lying to cover up what you did. The customer relations department is a joke as they just say ok to what they did. I hope that someone else doesn’t have the experience I had.

Purchased my Toyota 2 months ago from Carmax several days later while on the freeway my car would vibrate violently when coming to a stop called Carmax made appt where they did find as I knew that my brake rotors where warped they fixed this issue not feeling comfortable that their claimed 125-Multi Point inspection was even performed took the car to my local Toyota dealer so they could do an actual Multi Point inspection where they discovered a few issues including Dirty and Clogged Air-InCabin and Engine air filters which were so clogged the engine needed a professional air intake cleanse which I paid for , dirty burnt Transmission, Radiator coolant and Brake fluid and several other issues that would have been detected like warped brake rotors if a 125-Multi Point inspection was actually performed. Reacted out to a JESSICA who asked me for copies of my invoices as these issues where fixed and paid for by me in the amount of over $12000.00 I sent invoices only for Jessica to say we won’t be reimbursing you even though these issues would’ve been caught and corrected by Carmax if they did their inspection my car is still under your 90days 40000 mile warranty yet I’m out of pocket over $1200.00 on a car I bought from Carmax several weeks later . Word of mouth of your unacceptable customer service is powerful and I’ll be filing Dealer fraud and misrepresentations to BBB, Yelp, Reddit and filing a complaint with our local Nevada Department Of Motor Vehicles since Carmax doesn’t want to do the right thing by fixing an issue that shouldn’t have even been there in the first place your lack of concern for your customers who buy from what they think is a reputable car dealership that claim they perform a 125-Multi Point Inspection the reason I purchased from Carmax to begin with only to be let down by a company I thought stood by their customers issues is unacceptable and I will be sharing my disappointing experience with others it’s a shame I’m writing this when all Carmax had to do was the right thing for a customer who out their trust in you . Very sad Daniel Valenzuela.

I had an extremely frustrating experience with CarMax. Their lack of understanding of basic auto finance, including things like paystubs and lien holder information, was mind-boggling. I was even asked if "10 days" meant "10 hours," despite it clearly being stated on my paystubs. When I asked about the vehicle's history for the 2021 Ford Mach-E I was interested in, I was told the "engine looked good and was serviced." The issue? I was buying an electric vehicle, so there is no engine! If anyone can find the engine CarMax employees said was in the car, please let me know!
CarMax’s customer service was abysmal. Not only did they fail to provide clear, accurate information, but I was also passed between multiple employees in different states, none of whom seemed to know anything. I voiced my concerns about the lack of professionalism and service, and for that, I was banned from the company nationwide. Apparently, they don't value honest feedback about their flawed processes.
I ended up going to Miller Ford in New Jersey the next day and got the same car with lower terms, a lower payment, fewer miles, and even a warranty. Plus, I was treated with respect, something CarMax clearly lacks. Save yourself the hassle and avoid CarMax—go directly to a brand dealership where you'll get better service, a fair deal, and, most importantly, respect.
CarMax: Banned from my business forever.

I bought my vehicle 4 months ago. My title was Initially lost and didn’t come with the car that I paid to have shipped, that should have been my warning. I had to wait extra time for that to be taken care of. It took almost an extra week on top of the week and a half to ship it. The sales manager finally did try to track down the title after multiple calls and he did let me go ahead and test drive it. The vehicle came from up north and had a lot more rust on the bolts and other places then vehicles normally have. When I asked them about replacing the bolts or what we could do to fix this, the answer was “this car passed our inspection so we won’t do anything about any of that”. The only reason I went ahead and purchased the vehicle is because I have been looking for this exact vehicle for a couple of years. Overall I was very disappointed with the whole CarMax experience and I’ve bought from CarMax twice before now. CarMax is higher priced than most places and has no haggle pricing which normally I didn’t mind because I knew exactly what I wanted from them but this time was a completely different experience. Today only four months later, I took my vehicle to my local Toyota dealership where I personally know the employees, to get my oil changed. They showed me my brakes and they had rusted completely and said I would not be able to pass the state inspection and it’s 100% unsafe to drive. This is very disappointing because I specifically asked about this when I purchased my car and then asked again. The cabin filter, which is a simple fix, had also never been changed for what looked like the life of the car.

Working for the company as a young adult before the 08 financial crisis. I would have told everyone to get a car from here. Funny how things change. Carmax forgot where they came from. My fiance bought a car less then a year ago. She bought the extended warranty also (I know I know I tried to tell her) anyway its carmax fortune 100 company my store sold over 1000 cars in a month surely they wouldnt... car we got needs a engine. Course they tried to find any reason to not pay 🙄 . 2 weeks no car finally got approval. To bad they only cover rental for 6 days. However we knew what the problem was day 1 carmax wanted to try everything else first except the problem. Americans a are hurting in this economy they expect me to pay for a car that sits in the shop and pay for a rental because they don't care. No I mean I studied that contract it literally says we don't care about lost time, financial loss ect. So they take there time. Yes put that sensor in that will fix the camshaft. (It didnt) I'm disappointed seeing the process it's appalling contract states 6 days for a rental per breakdown. I mean we can word play that in my favor 3rd repair 3rd breakdown just give the girl a rental stop taking your time maybe wouldn't need too in the first place. You didn't lose a customer. You lost someone who always spoke highly of carmax. Hope yall get back to your roots the carmax I know helped people not destroy them.

AMERICAN PEOPLE!! Let’s put CarMax out of business!!! DO NOT buy here!! They sell cars with bad titles and won’t be truthful in their disclosure. Very shady business models. No-Haggle pricing means YOU the consumer get GUARANTEED screwed on their markups that are way inflated beyond Kelly Blue Bill values!! “You could pay more, but WHY??” CarMax doesn’t care about you, ONLY their profit margin and their high commission margins!!! I was financed thru my Credit Union and they refused to sign a “guarantee of title” form, (which isn’t a legally binding document btw) which all this form does is guarantee that CarMax will list my Credit Union as the lienholder. Now ask yourself WHY would they not sign this small piece of paper?? Do they not have the title?? Is there a lien on the title?? Is the title not clean, rebuilt, or bonded?? Was the car in a flood and they’re trying to hide the history of the title??? Red flags YOU don’t need. Go to a repeatable MAJOR dealership, haggle your price down several thousand dollars with pride and satisfaction and let’s say GOODBYE to CarMax’s shady business practices and policies!! You can thank me later!

Worst place for service. Don’t buy a car and if you do don’t ever call them for anything service related. They will hold you hostage and not tell you whats going on after you are already there for multiple hours with no work done. This is all after leaving multiple messages and no return calls just to get to the service department. They give you none of this information when you get there. The people are not educated at all on how to talk to customers and explain the processes. This company sucks and this is the last car I buy from them. I had to leave because no one explained any of this and I had to go to work. So nothing was completed on my car and I am out 3 hours of my work time to know have to still deal with this issue somewhere else.

Sold me an inoperable lemon. When I called to discuss a path forward I was treated with condescension and talked in circles. Company is unable and unwilling to take accountability for its mistakes and is extremely excited to predate upon its customers. Extremely unpleasant and costly experience, really excited to eventually be free of these vultures.

I can’t believe that they actually are still in business. I am trying to buy a car from Carmax in east meadows and they don’t care that I have the check from the bank and I am ready to drive of from there lot and there is no one that cares to close the deal, very disappointed and very unprofessional if I could give no stars I would.

Over the past month, we have been attempting to purchase a Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 from Carmax. During the last three weeks, I have had to contact Carmax corporate personally to get any information regarding the status of the vehicle and the purchase process. Today, we told that the car had cosmetic damage that was not repaired before the transfer, and there are also issues with its title. When I questioned the Carmax corporate representative about why I should proceed with the purchase from them, her response was that as a consumer, I should do my own research. I interrupted her and reminded her that I have previously purchased four cars through transfers from Carmax, and we have never encountered such a serious issue before. I requested a member of the Carmax corporate leadership team to contact me, but as of now, I have not received any response and I feel that I never will. I want to caution potential buyers: CarMax is not worth your time..

CarMax corporate supports Domestic Violence against women. I had cosigned a car for my ex, a lovely and strong woman, who ended up years into the lease marrying a twice arrested woman and elderly abuser. He started contacting me trying to blackmail me that he would ruin my credit unless I sent him money and paid off her car. Because of my Faith, I refused to give in and support Domestic Violence. I communicated with CarMax via phone and Certified Mail pleading to remove me from her lease as it was ruining my family. I am proud that I did not let that waver me from my faith and I never sent that abuser one dime. Carmax refused to help and would rather destroy me for trusting in God than to simply remove me from a Domestic Violence and Blackmail situation. In the end, I had to go to their house in the middle of the night with a tow company to get CarMax their ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS they were owed. Now, my family is being threatened with violence (as I told CarMax would happen). We have gone to the police numerous times and there isn't much they can do. We are looking into small claims court for CarMax. Do not give in to this company. Their moral compass is non-existent. All we wanted was this off my credit and to not be forced to deny our Faith. I pity CarMax and will pray for them as well.

Came into the dealership looking to sell my car. Old school sales guy named bob decided to help. I told him I have 15 minutes just wanted to see if they can give me an estimate. He said it would take longer but he wanted my information to get a range. I told him I just want a range if not I’ll leave. He said let me get all your information and I think we can help. During that time he was trying to ask questions to see if probably to sell me on something. I did tell him that I priced other places , so that’s probably why he wanted my information. Once he got all my information he proceeded to tell me that we need to take 45 pictures. Which is when I got pissed. I knew he was trying to see if I was going to buy a new car. These salespeople from the 90s need to stop, it’s killing these companies business

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY! THE CORPORATE OFFICE KNOWS HOW TERRIBLE THEIR SERVICE TECHS ACT AND REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT! I GAVE THEM PROOF THAT THE MECHANICSBURG, PA LOCATION IS NOT PERFORMING STATE INSPECTIONS PROPERLY AND NOT PERFORMING SERVICE PROPERLY! THE PERSON AT THIS LOCATION WHO PERFORMS INSPECTIONS AND OIL CHANGES DOES NOT KNOW STATE INSPECTION LAWS! HE DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO USE THE TOOL TO MEASURE BRAKE PADS! HE DOES NOT KNOW WHEN ROTORS NEED REPLACED! HE DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO MEASURE TIRE TREAD! HE LIES TO CUSTOMERS! HE TOLD ME I AM NOT ALLOWED TO HAVE A LICENSE PLATE FRAME ON MY VEHICLE BECAUSE THE LAW IS CHANGING! THE LAW WAS AMENDED A COUPLE YEARS AGO AND HE DOES NOT KNOW ABOUT IT, AND HE PERFORMS THE INSPECTIONS! HE DOES NOT KNOW HOW MUCH AIR IS SUPPOSED TO BE IN A TIRE! HE TOOK AIR OUT OF MY TIRE WITHOUT ASKING ME AND MY TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON DURING THE DRIVE HOME! HE PASSED MY VEHICLE FOR INSPECTION AND TWO WEEKS LATER I FOUND OUT I NEEDED NEW BRAKES AND ROTORS AND TWO TIRES WHEN I HAD MY VEHICLE AT A HONDA DEALERSHIP FOR A RECALL! I CALLED THE CORPORATE OFFICE! THEY SAID THAT SOMEONE WOULD CALL IN 24 HOURS! I CONTACTED THEM A WEEK LATER BECAUSE NOBODY CALLED YET! I TOLD THEM EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENED AND PROVIDED THE PROOF! THEY REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING AND BLEW IT OFF! THEY KNOW ABOUT THEIR EMPLOYEES DOING THINGS LIKE THIS AND ARE TOO LAZY AND IRRESPONSIBLE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT! IF YOU LIKE BEING LIED TO AND TREATED LIKE YOU'RE STUPID, THEN THIS ISCTHE PLACE FOR YOU TO BUY A VEHICLE! STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM HERE AS POSSIBLE!

Very, very unorganized! Everyone running around like a chicken with their heads cut off. Went in to the Newark DE location with CASH! And they could not find the car. Could not find their own car. The poor salesman didn’t know what to do. And in addition to that, my late Father In Law had a Subaru Forester financed through Carmax and when he passed , we called Carmax and told them to COME GET THE CAR! They said they could not while the estate was in probate. 4 months went by and here it sat. Well one morning at 2:00 AM we saw lights coming up the driveway. Well they came to repo the car like we were some kind of deadbeats. All they had to do is say, “we are coming to get the car and we would have given them the keys. I don’t know how these people are still in business . Very, very ruthless! These are the last people I would ever buy a car from.

Terrible customer service warranty doesn’t keep its promise. Parts are not covered. Tried talking to headquarters no resolution.
