On the way home on Friday afternoon I got a flat tire. When I walked in, I said " I know it's Friday afternoon and you are busy, but I have an emergency since I got a flat". The lady at the desk was gruff and ill-mannered. First said it would be a few hours before they could get to it. After some delay, finally took my info. More waiting, she went out to my car, and without even looking at the hole in the tire, said "we don't even have this size of tire" not knowing if it could be fixed. I said fine, please let me air up the tire so I can get to the dealer, who said they were willing to help me. Pull up to the first bay, she said. I did so and waited, waited, waited. .... I went back in and she said" we are busy and will help you as soon as we can". I suggested she let me have a hose so I could fill the tire( I am an ASE certified technician). A few more minutes later, a nice young man came out and helped me. Through the door, I could see the shop was cluttered and messy. Not professional at all. Maybe less money on the big advertising board out front and more on safety and equipment. A few minutes later I was at the dealership where they were friendly and helped me right away. This Midas shop is on a busy corner in Short Pump and has no nearby competitor so they think they can get away with poor customer service. I would recommend you stay far away and look for better service elsewhere!!!

If I could give this shop a zero, I would, and single women beware, they’ll try to take you for a ride. Went in for an inspection, was told my truck needed $2k worth of work, at bare minimum $750 just to pass inspection. Mechanic told me, rather rudely, “yea I wouldn’t put $2k into this truck either.”I took it to my regular mechanic the following week, and it cost me $60 to get it inspected & tires rotated. To quote, “I don’t know what those guys saw, other than a single woman with a nice truck that they wanted to see if they could get as much money out of you as they could. You didn’t need ANY of that.”Absolutely abhorrent shop that I will not use and will warn any and everyone against.

I’ve been to a lot of shops and they’re the best by far. Always fair and transparent. Customer service is very pleasant. Love the fact that they provide a loaner car when needed. Really well run business.

Mark Smith is the biggest crook I have ever seen in the automotive business. I have never seen a more dishonest business than the Richmond area "Midas Of Richmond" repair shops. They sell you things you don't need and charge 2.5 times as much as any other repair shop I have found. There labor rate is over 200.00 per hour. Even the dealer is cheaper than that. Do yourself a favor and stay away from these crooks who claim to help the community. As much as the charge for those unnecessary repairs, they should supply housing with those gallon jugs of milk they give away.

I was greeted by name when I walked in for the first time. They quickly set me up for my inspection and service and created an accurate expectation for when service would be completed. While doing my alignment, the tech showed me one area of concern and walked through the fix/pricing.All in all, a very good experience with efficient and friendly service.

They want to have commercials now about helping people prevent their catalytic converters being stolen, but when I went there 2.5 years ago they saw I was using insurance to have it replaced, and it suddenly went from $2500 to $5000 because their mechanic failed to remove parts properly. Luckily I was able to tow my truck to a shop that fixed it properly and didn't try to make extra money from my insurance.

Warning! This shop is one of "those ones" that will attempt to rip you off. Took my old 1999 Toyota there for an inspection. Drives fine, rides fine, goes down the road safely, all lights work, all systems work, no check engine lights. Of course, it came back failed. Midas tech stated that I needed new shocks and steering rack. The shocks I pretty much knew needed to be done, but what took me aback was the price that they wanted to charge. The quote was for $735! For those unfamiliar, the parts themselves for decent quality pair of shocks is about $130 off Amazon. It requires about four to five hours of labor to put them in, using mostly basic tools. Total rip-off, and for junky off-brand shocks to boot. Steering rack was another matter entirely. The incompetent tech told me that it was leaking all over the place, and probably was not safe to even drive home. I asked him if that was true, how he had even managed to pull it into their bay without difficulty; he had no good answer there. I then took him out to his shop, pulled the dipstick for the power steering fluid, and showed him clean new fluid at the proper level. The "leak" was just grease and grime, it's a 23 year old truck for goodness sake. So there went the $1200 he wanted for that "repair." He did at least remove that from the failed inspection items. Bottom line, stay away from this place. They will use Virginia's state inspection process as an opportunity to rip you off and charge you way too much money for repairs that you might not even need. One star is too good for them.

Took my 2017 Nissan Altima to Nissan of Richmond next door as usual (where I bought it) REPEATEDLY for a constant need for air in my tire, 2 inspections WITH tire rotations, they find nothing. Last time, literally drove out of Nissan and took it here, Midas Short Pump. Had a screw and w/o appt fixed it under $50 in about an hour. I planned to take it there for my inspection due this month(Sept) because Nissan Richmond took 3hrs w appt, no loaners, last year, and I can't physically sit/stand that long(bad spine). BUT, seeing the voluminous horror reviews about inspections here...and I planned to call for an appt TOMORROW...is making me think twice. I felt like giving them my business was helping the community as well, as their radio commercials say. Just don't know now....Was hoping to nix Nissan Richmond for good, finally, and have a new permanent, regular maintenance home for my car.

I was impressed by the overall customer service from this location; everyone was extremely professional and courteous. Communication for pricing for services was straightforward and was never forced. Very flexible if you need a loaner vehicle, or if you live close by a courtesy drop-off. Why go anyplace else to have your car serviced?

Had a simple tire fix. The people working there were so nice and attentive that we scheduled additional routine maintenance services. Convenient location. We highly recommend this company.

I called for a quote on new brake pads and four new tires. The lady on the phone was ok. She told me that the two mechanics were busy and they would have to call me back, don’t understand why they couldn’t have just told her the price since I gave them information on the make, year and model of my car. They never called back to give me a quote. Called them twice on the same day and was still told the same thing that they were busy. Don’t understand why it’s so hard to just get an estimate when they have the information they needed to do so. A few days went by and still yet to hear back from them. I do not like my time wasted and will definitely not be getting services done with this company. All I wanted was a quote, I understand it gets busy but shouldn’t take but maybe five minutes to give someone a quote.

I can't thank Brad enough! He was so diligent and communicative while fixing an issue with my car. In all my years of taking my car to different shops I have never received service like I have from Brad. Also the ladies at the front are awesome and have been so friendly and accommodating! Thanks again. I highly recommend Midas!!

I almost never write public reviews but this one has been bugging me. This week I took my son's Avalon for an inspection and oil change. I was notified that several items failed, including the headlights. Both high beams were out and the lenses showed severe oxidation (I was not surprised by this). The mechanic's first and only remedy option was to replace both headlight kits for a whopping $1,400.00!! All in was going to be around $2,200.00. I understand the need to make profit but charging $90 for wiper blades is a little nuts considering they take 30 seconds to replace. When I declined service and asked the mechanic to fail the inspection he huffed and seemed pretty annoyed. After consulting with a friend, I purchased a headlight restoration kit ($30) and new bulbs (~$100 for the 4). It took me <1hr to buff the lenses and 20 min in total to replace the bulbs. A total cost to me of $130 and less than 1.5 man hours. Why wasn't this presented as an option? The mechanic indicated that there was significant degradation of the internal reflectors which was the main reason that the entire assembly needed replacement. I have no clue how this could be determined without x-ray vision since the oxidation on the lens was so bad that you couldn't even see through it. I should be able to trust my mechanic blindly and know that they are always looking out for my best interests (both from a safety and financial standpoint). Not in this case.
