Amazing shop. I was visiting Richmond for a mountain bike event and blew up my derailleur. 5 hour drive was almost for nothing. Their mechanic Jake dropped what he was doing and promptly hooked my injured bike up with a fresh upgrade on the spot. I was back on the trail mad fast and my trip was saved. The repair was perfect and the vibe of this shop was rad.

Nice laid back people. I’ve bought some local food goods from the grocery section here and had a bottom bracket rethreaded on a road bike frame.

Be careful... some of the food they sell is expired and not flagged. Found something expired over a year old and the guy still tried to sell it to me and say it is probably ok. Mentioned I had to throw out something I accidentally bought that was expired and no refund was offered like every other grocery store I shop at. 1 star for having some unique grocery items and another for their cider selection. Some ciders here I haven't found elsewhere, so kudos to that. A third star for offering a rewards program although you have to pay a fee to join.

Awesome little shop and great staff too! I went in with pretty much no idea what I wanted/needed and was immediately helped to find a good bike to suit my needs and budget. Shoutout Levi for helping me, I love my new bike so much! The market section is also so cute. Awesome local products, some produce, and great beer and wine selection. If I lived in biking distance of Outpost, I'd probably spend all my money there.

We bought a Marin bike from Outpost in October 2022. I called Outpost this morning to let them know that while my son was riding the bike, the bolts came off the rear disc rotor. The rotor then fell off the bike and became damaged. The Outpost staff member I spoke to immediately launched into a “Well, if the bike hasn’t had regular maintenance, this can happen…” and basically kept repeating that. He just went on the defensive right away and seemed to assume that regular maintenance hadn’t been done on the bike. My husband has been a cyclist since his teens and has been teaching our son about bicycle maintenance. It wasn’t until I asked the Outpost employee what we should do that he said I could bring the bike in and they could take a look at it. My husband I are in our 50s, have had bikes for decades, and have never had an issue like this occur with a bike. Since we live an hour away from Outpost, based on the unhelpful response of the Outpost employee, we’ll likely just order a new rotor and make the repair ourselves which may have been the general aim of the Outpost guy anyway.

I love this bike shop/market. It's very close to home and has all the goodies I want. ***LOCATION*** Right on Forest Hill ave and Westover Hills blvd. There are parking spots out front, a bus stop, and you can bring your bike inside to shop. ***EXPERIENCE*** I don't come here often, but when I do I usually come for local brews, nightingale ice cream sandwiches, or a bike tune up. I love the little local markets we have all around RVA, and the fact that this one doubles as a bike shop is so cool to me. Their bike shop people are down to earth and really help you with any bike needs/concerns you may have. I'd recommend getting your bike fixed here if you're looking for a place. ***PRICE*** Market goods are a bit on the pricier side (think Whole Foods), but they have local and organic products. And it's always great to support a local shop. I haven't gotten a bike tune up from them in a while, but I remember it feeling like a reasonable price. My partner recently had a chain link replaced and brake tune-up and that came out to $30. ***CONCLUSION*** I love Outpost. It's cute, trendy, and local. It does a beautiful job at combining all things Richmond and bikes under one roof.

I love this shop! Outpost Richmond always provides the customer with great service. The staff is personable and professional. I recently purchased a mountain bike at Outpost and was extremely satisfied with my experience. I was properly fitted, my bike was quickly set-up, and I was out the door ready to ride. Thanks to Braden and all the Outpost crew for always providing top notch service!

Probably the best shop in Richmond. Its insane someone would walk in needing help and service, get that service, then complain about having to pay. If it required zero knowledge, then why did you need help? Courtney Dobbs you idiot. Where you not smart enough to figure it out yourself? Clearly not. Where do you work? I'd love to come in for free service. Sorry for that experience Outpost. I want you all to know that most of us actually really appreciate your help. Keep being great and Sorry for the Karens of Richmonds getting bent over $10.

Let me tell you that these are some of the best people you will ever meet in Richmond, not just involving bikes but in general. Each one of their employees are brilliant and incredibly friendly people who genuinely add to the experience of being in the store. When you hear the common phrase “support your local bike shop” they have places like this in mind who deserve your money. They do top notch work and charge a very fair price. By far some of the greatest people out there.

I love this place! Everyone is super friendly and helpful every time I go in there. The staff will explain stuff to me if I’m not sure how something on my bike works, or how it’s supposed to be maintained (one of the mechanics even helped me pick out an awesome bottle of wine once). Such a cool shop, we are lucky to have it in Richmond.

Friendly, helpful staff. Reasonable prices. Happy to support this independent shop that builds a better community. Think twice before shopping at some Corporately owned shop run by greed.

Doesn’t have a bike rack in front of the storeEdit 3 stars to 5 stars: thank you outpost for the clarity with the bike rack issue. As a community member I had a concern. I do hope a permanent bike rack solution can be part of the collective development plan for the group of businesses in this strip. The surrounding neighborhoods are pro bike traffic and hope the future development supports that vision

Unique selection of micro brews. One of those places I will stop by anytime I’m on this side of town.

Outpost is so rare it’s kinda mind blowing how casually awesome this place and people are.Imagine a contrast of local and handmade foods, bicycles, fresh flowers, beer, wine, art, clothing and trinkets. Then add a community of people who have recognized this space, work in it, and engage with food and cycling related details. What you get is Outpost Richmond. This location and the people running it are the definition of community building.Hands down, my very favorite grocery in America. There is no place I’ve been that is more niche and simultaneously provisional. If you need work on your bicycle, they have mechanics ready to sort out the issues. If you need cycling equipment, they have all the parts you could want. Custom bicycles from Endpoint can be ordered here.Group bicycle rides can be learned about here. There’s a wealth of generosity flowing from this space.Outpost Richmond continues to receive a massive amount of custom care and I would absolutely say, worth going out of your way to stop by to feel the result of all this nuanced effort.
