Save-A-Lot has actually become more expensive and it is out of so many things that I need to get when I shop so I kind of split my shopping between Save-A-Lot and Walmart where I can get better deals

I think that this store is an example of the systemic racism that plagues cities in this country. I think that the staff that work here are doing whatever they can with the resources provided to them. The parking lot surrounding the neighborhood is massively lined with trash, as if Trash Collections is employed by Public Works to simply drive a bulldozer that would shift the trash towards the sides of the parking lot. The city does not invest into predominantly black communities to ensure that individuals can function at a standard on par with the health code, because there is only so much action staff can take to provide a clean space when the surrounding parking lot and buildings are bordering on dilapidation. My friend and I walked in here today, and people seemed uncomfortable when seeing us. As a person of European descent, I can state that I do empathize with this, because the city shouldn’t only invest in a community when people who look like me primarily exist there. I read that the store may have an issue with a rat or mice infestation, which could create a health hazard to the people who depend on this store. The building infrastructure or lack thereof and trash-filled parking lots would be to blame. All people deserve equally clean and equally safe grocery stores. Additionally, ALDI has significantly cheaper produce. The strawberries are 7 dollars here, and it is just unfair to the local residents that would benefit the most from higher discounts. If there is any action you can take to press the City of Richmond to invest into your building’s infrastructure and the cleanliness of the surrounding streets, it could really impact your business in a positive way. There will be a contamination risk with all the surrounding litter, but this is NOT the fault of the employees here. Everyone here just deserves better than the city’s negligence.
