I am disabled , very low monthly income and have 2 companion dogs .... The month of August l didn't have enough funds to buy dry dog food for my 2 females , 1 red/ white 7 yrs old and 1 tri - color ( Blue Tick ) 2 yrs old , bithe Treewalker Coonhounds so l call this SPCA / Shelter in Fluvanna Co Virginia talked to the people told them my story of need for my dogs and asked if they could provide some dry dog food so my dogs have enough until the first of September .....they have given a whole bag !
Incredible lovable , sincere , caring people at that place and all the animals that go their are so lucky 😁
For a very lovable , sincere , caring group of people who help there this is the one l definitely recommend to donate / volunteer / foster with !!!!!
These people really show in their own self and they show it to each other and every one the meaning of love , care , respect of the animals God created .

The staff at the Fluvanna SPCA are incredibly friendly, efficient, helpful and professional, and they are laser-focused on the welfare of the animals in their care. My family and I just adopted two kittens from the shelter and they couldn't have made the process any easier or more pleasant. They're wonderful and supportive and we're delighted to support them in return. We'd recommend the Fluvanna SPCA to anyone considering adoption; an exceptional experience all around!

The staff and volunteers are absolutely incredible. When I first started to inquire about a specific dog, I was able to talk with a volunteer that knew and loved everything about her. I knew I had to see this dog and traveled to the FSPCA. The staff and volunteers helped us and made it super easy and stress free for us and the dog. We met the dog for the first time in a wonderful play pen that was well fenced with plenty of toys, shade, and water (and a kiddie pool). The dog was able to play and meet us on her terms, and I truly fell in love with the dog the second I touched her head. We walked on the trail, which was a nicely kept and shaded path, and made our way back to the building. We choose to do foster-to-adopt as our situation involved confirming she would get along with cats (which the staff suspected she would, and she is A+ with cats). We have had excellent communication and support from the FSPCA and I couldn't be more appreciative of them. It has been the best experience I've gotten from an animal shelter- and that is because of the great volunteers and staff. Thanks for helping us find our dog!

I went there 10 minutes before there was supposed to open considering they’re only open a very limited amount of time and I was the only one there and it’s hard to find people to adopt animals these days. I found it very strange that they told me that I couldn’t come in I could come backin 30 minutes, but I had to wait. I found that very strange for a service that is supposed to be assistant, abandoned animals, highly disappointed.

The staff and volunteers do an amazing job of taking care of the animals here. It is encouraging and heartwarming to see how well these animals are loved and how hard they work at finding them homes. We fostered to adopt a cat and would recommend Fluvanna SPCA to anyone.

Adopted a kitten from FCSPCA and it was a great experience. It's clear the staff and volunteers care for each animal that comes through the shelter. She wasn't spayed yet so we went through their foster to adopt program. The shelter manager is incredibly pleasant and easy to work with when scheduling a time to come in to update necessary shots and spaying. Their vet (or tech, I'm not sure) is passionate and kind. I highly recommend working with them for your next pet and supporting their efforts however you can.

Zero compassion, rude, and will make you feel like pure crap. The animal care worker Wen I believe her name is couldn't have been any more of a pure bred know it all jerk. I rescued a dog whose owner had passed away shortly after he began to lose weight rapidly. Between food, meds and vet appointments I no longer could afford to care for this dog. I chose to take this dog to the vet and not pay my electric and now have a disconnect notice. I brought my dog in for a follow up appointment and the vet informed me that he will possibly need some very costly treatment because she believed he had an issue with his pancreas which has caused a ton of weight loss and he can't gain. I made the very hard decision to surrender him so a rescue or someone who can afford to give him a long full life can get him the care he needs. A choice that was not made easily but as a single parent I chose to lose a loved family member so he can live a good life And get the care he needs. The vet called around and asked if I was okay with him going to the spca. I was hesitant but figured they would be better than no care at all. I arrived at fluvanna spca and immediately received disgusted looks. Wen had Many smart remarks on the dogs weight and how he was not fixed. Even after explaining that the vet believed that he had a pancreas issue which is why he was not gaining she still made me feel like I was a horrible person for not Being able to care for him. I informed them I have been giving him access to food ALL DAY as instructed by the vet and he would immediately have to use the bathroom. While I was filling out the surrender paperwork she came back out to inform me she fed him and he was starving. After I informed her he will eat all day long and still acts as if he was starving. I surrendered him so he can get medical care that I could not provide at this moment. I did not surrender him to be made to feel like I was a horrible person who wasn't caring for my pet. Fluvanna SPCA has always been a crappy place but come on do better. Hop off of your high horse and realize some of us have real life problems And life happens.
