Navy Federal is a Five Star Company. I am giving the HQ one star to bring attention to a yet unaddressed IT glitch. Log in passwords on their Digital Banking page do not allow for certain special characters that some passwords contain.

Absolute trash organization with the least experienced employees in the industry, the most outdated legacy mainframe systems that fail or are hacked regularly, extraordinarily inexperienced leadership that regularly violates common knowledge regulations and does not actually care about members, and from the top, an organization that doesn't do what it says. This is a not for profit organization, with a primary objective to provide better savings and loan rates and better service through the tax benefits they reap. Their savings and loan rates are always beat and their member service is generally horrendous. Go shop navy federal right now, they will be beat in every way by 10 organizations at least. This organization's financials are public, it and its leadership have profited extraordinary amounts from the very people that protect their right to do so. It's stealing in broad daylight and taking advantage of blind loyalty. NOT FOR PROFIT managers and vp's and front office people with a parking garage like you'd find at the Ritz, multi-million dollar homes, lavish dinners and trips in the tens of thousands and even 6 figures, and regular annual 6 figure bonuses. Not much of a not for profit or honorable military organization. Open your eyes before continuing to be taken advantage of or there's major collapse or hack.

Do not use this credit union if you want good customer service! Bank of America treats you better (and that is a very low bar) Langley fcu is the way to go if you like good customer service and a credit union

Thanks for telling me this is not what you strive for. I guess the bar is very low. Because what I wrote is the truth and as you can see I am pulling my money out at a snails pace cuz you will only let me transfer 5k at a time to my new bank. Once again my money but do to your restrictions of my money a simple transfer is taking days and then there is the 5 day hold ridiculous. I can nit wait to be done with your worthless bank! oh wait I am going to have to wait till my transfers are complete...

Terrible credit union. My son's campus checking account was hacked- had non-existent checks deposited and overdrew the account by about $9000. It is nearly impossible to speak to fraud department, had to wait on hold for hours. They "investigated" this event, never contacted me, never gave me any information regarding their "findings" but report that we are liable for the money- when we had nothing to do with this. They will not return calls, letters nor messages and I cannot wait on hold for hours to speak with them. We discussing this with our lawyer. DO NOT USE NAVY FEDERAL!!!!!!!

I really dont think they deserve any star on 3 Janurary 2023 a duplicate car payment was made to NFCU I requested to have the duplicate payment returned I was told to put my request in writing and provide proof the payments cleared my account of which I promptly went into NFCU and provided this information I was then told the money should be in my account the next day. The next day I check back with NFCU and was then told I did not give them a complete bank statement. It is 6 days into the month of January and although I provided proof each car payment cleared my bank account they refuse to give back the duplicate payment. They treat people of color terrible. I am so sorry I ever did any business with this company. They are into keeping money. No customer service and no concern whatsoever.

Poor Customer Service and Operations! On Saturday 12/3, I purchased a vehicle from a member of NFCU where he had an outstanding loan. Met the guy at his local branch and paid via cashier's check. Myself and the member gave clear instructions to forward me the payoff/lien release letter directly to me when processed. The woman at the branch said it would take a week for them to issue a lien release letter. I confirmed the check cleared on Tuesday 12/6, 2 business days later.1 - First letter sent did not include my name or was signed or notarized2 - Second payoff/lien release letter I received had my name and address but was not signed or notarized. I took the letter to the DMV to register the car but the clerk would not take it as it was not signed and notarized. How does someone working in the lien/loan-payoff department NOT KNOW official documents have to be signed and notarized prior to sending out!! This is standard operating procedure!!I contacted to the seller (NFCU member) and asked for his help with the matter and now am left waiting. It is now Friday 12/23 and I still have not received that correct lien release letter.Poor Customer Service and Operations! It should not take this long to forward a signed release of lien letter!I was previously a member of a small CU in RI and they treated members with great respect and provided excellent customer service all around! Since then I have always praised and spoke highly of CUs, as they are much different from big bank operations!I've had the car in my possession for over 3 weeks but cannot get the car registered nor have I been able to drive it!This poor experience with NFCU has made me change my mind! Absolutely horrendous service!!

VETERANS AND NAVY FEDERAL CREDIT UNION MEMBERS BEWARE! PLEASE READ BEFORE SUBMITTING ANY LOAN APPLICATIONS TO NFCU!I am a 74-year-old, disabled Vietnam veteran and I rely on my credit in the event of emergencies. After receiving roof damage during Hurricane Ivan, I submitted an online application with Navy Federal Credit Union (NFCU) for a Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC). My intention was to repair the roof using the funds from the HELOC while I await my insurance settlement. I received an email requesting a telephone interview from Sila Nikzad, Equity Processing Specialist | Real Estate Lending, 820 Follin Lane | Vienna, VA | 22180 Telephone: 540-697-0882 | Fax: 866-346-8082On Friday, 10/28/2022, during our very first telephone conversation, Ms. Nikzad outlined that there would be approx. $2000 in closing costs and that the roof would "probably" have to be replaced BEFORE they could approve the loan. I immediately responded by instructing her to "withdraw my application". She replied "okay". She agreed to withdraw my application. She then called me back a few minutes later and stated that "by law, they must record my loan as declined". That is absolutely untrue. My loan was not declined, nor had they even offered me the loan or completed the interview. It was in fact withdrawn. She then stated that it would not be reported to credit agencies, but would be marked as declined only in the NFCU internal records. This too is unacceptable. In my opinion, it's the equivalent of accepting a jail sentence for a crime you didn't commit. I have a long-standing and blemish-free relationship with Navy Federal. Over my years as a member, I have referred dozens of borrowers to NFCU. I will not allow my record with NFCU to be tarnished because I withdrew a loan application. I'm not trying to be unreasonable but, I take my credit extremely seriously and they are threatening to disrupt my years of hard work by fraudulently recording my application as "declined". They DIDN'T decline my loan, I WITHDREW my application. All I am asking for is the truth. The records must be corrected and the application recorded as "withdrawn". When I demanded that they do so, they pivoted to "well if we had continued it may have been declined due to the debt-to-income ratio, but that was after I had already demanded that they withdraw the application. What would have happened is meaningless once I withdrew my application.

Navy Federal Credit Union does NOT protect their members OR our accounts!!!! Fraudulent checks were deposited into my account and cashed before they even cleared! Now NFCU is bullying me into trying to pay them back the stolen funds that a scammer took. NFCU hasnt even investigated it and won't cooperate with the police department about my open fraud and identitytheft cases, but ARE hastily pushing to send it to collections under MY name because we cannot locate the scammer. I do not recommend anybody trust this unaccredited institution with your money. However if you are a scammer/con they'll cash your huge fraudulent checks no problem before they have cleared! It's bad enough that i got conned, but now my own credit union is of no help to me and are victomizing me all over again!!!

I cannot believe the service of Navy Federal Credit Union as of late. They have really gone downhill. I've been a NFCU member for my entire life and I am so stunned and disappointed by their lack of customer service lately. I can't believe I bank with NFCU. Specifically for choosing NFCU as a mortgage lender, they promise the best rates for their members because after all, they claim to be customer-oriented. My partner and I were putting an offer on a home and being how extremely competitive the Seattle area market is, we needed to act swiftly. Fortunately, we were able to apply for a home loan all online, which was great to get a pre-approval letter, which is necessary for making an offer. Even though the rate was much higher than we anticipated, we didn't have time to shop around since we only had three days for when offers would be reviewed (because this is the Seattle area after all). I contacted NFCU with follow up questions that the realtor needed for the offer letter and was told that my mortgage lender was out, but she would leave her a message and also provided me the number and e-mail to contact her. I contacted this mortgage lender, Kayleigh Barnes every day and every f****** hour until the review date and time, so the realtor could get answers that only the lender could provide. She has never ever contacted me back. We basically had to just hope for the best with our offer in a highly competitive market. That was obviously disappointing and yeah, we didn't get the house; so we went with another lender who was the complete opposite of NFCU. I mean, they were RESPONSIVE, CARING, HELPFUL, INFORMATIVE - everything NFCU was not! We were able to close with this lender at a lower rate, and the day we were signing our title and needed a cashier's check then of course to contact a local branch in my area, they make you call the NFCU hotline for local branch information. I waited 45 minutes to speak with someone who gave me wrong information!! I wanted to speak with a local branch so they could verify with me that they would be open for all services, as Google and their site implies that due to COVID, some branches would have limited services. The person I spoke to who I had to wait 45 minutes to speak with told me that the Everett branch would be able to provide me a cashier's check. After driving 40 minutes to Everett, I find out they have LIMITED SERVICE and had to drive to another branch, as if I have the entire day to f****** road trip across Washington just to get a cashier's check. NFCU customers should not have to wait nearly an hour to call a hotline to get LOCAL information. By the time I reached a local branch and told them about the 45-minute wait and the wrong information provided by someone who is most likely based in Virginia, all they said to me was that local numbers aren't provided and that all matters should be addressed through the hotline. RIDICULOUS. Shame on you, NFCU!

Navy Federal is the WORST BANK ON EARTH. They regularly place holds on your funds for no reason. ACH transfers that take one business day at other banks take a week or more with Navy Federal. Their customer service is USELESS. The ONLY thing they can do is look at the same information you're looking at on the app, and read back what you're already seeing on the screen. They can't find the source of the problem or do ANYTHING to fix it. I gave them another chance after the last time NAVY FEDERAL MADE ME STARVE. Now, NAVY FEDERAL HAS MADE ME HOMELESS . WORST. BANK. EVER.

Obtaining a car loan from Navy Federal Credit Union was a great idea and a good experience. I did need to ask for a manager and not general customer service personnel. Once I got to someone who could provide a change to my loan request, it was smooth sailing. The representatives were professional, informative, answered by questions and provided me with exactly what I needed. In a timely manner. I appreciate their efforts, professionalism, knowledge, and friendliness. I am glad to do business with NFCU and bank with them for savings accounts. Thanks so much for your great customer service!

I've banked with Navy Federal Credi Union since 2005 and their service has gone down dramatically and that was the case well before the Covid-19 pandemic. Now, they're shamelessly using Covid as an excuse for their terrible service. If you need a bank that will treat you like a number NFCU is there for you. If you need a bank that works FOR you, try another institution. First, their mortgage department only caters to their east coast customers. If you live on the West Coast, you have to contact them 9am-4pm Eastern Standard Time, or else you can't get a hold of them. I called at 12pm PST on Good Friday I was on hold for 45 minutes before I finally gave up. I assume they had already gone home, but their telephone system wasn't updated with their early closure, which equates to more bad customer service. Their rates are not nearly as competitive as they used to be. I bought a new car last year and I went with another more competitive bank. I've been trying to refinance my house with them since January 6th 2021, as of April 15th, 2021 the refinance is still not complete. Meanwhile, interest rates have risen the entire time. What's worse is they tried to short change me on the value of my house , so that I would either be forced to take a worse rate or pay an appraiser $495. After all that, a week after the loan was already supposed to be closed according to their processor Bethany Vicknair, the loan came back with significantly different conditions than originally stated. I canceled the loan and will be leaving Navy Federal. Treating customers like their finances are of no urgency is terrible customer service and definitely not what I consider military friendly. There are better banks out there. Join me and go somewhere else. Semper Fidelis, Brendan Bradley
