Book Stores in Winchester, VA

“I love going into vintage/used books stores and have done so across the country. I had the good fortune of stopping in yesterday, as I was in town on vacation. Without a doubt, this was the finest bookstore I have ever visited. It is clearly owned, managed and staffed by individuals who love books and are dedicated to providing excellent customer service. There are so many aspects to this shop that speak to its superiority, but I will list just a few. The collection is well organized, labeled and shelved (no piles to sort through here). There are numerous little nooks to visit and ample chairs, couches and step stools to sit on, inviting you to stay and read. The collection itself is comprehensive and so well organized that it can be searched by employees with a computer in the front, or easily by a customer who wishes to browse. If the prices seem just a bit high, please remember that you are paying for the expertise of someone to catalogue, price, label and shelve these books, as there is no "junk" here. Also, the store is inviting because it does not smell like mold or dust, a minor thing perhaps, but it certainly contributes to the overall environment of the store. Finally, as mentioned earlier, the customer service was phenomenal, as they were friendly and engaging! Thank you Blue Plate Books! I hope to have the joy of visiting again soon.”

“Nerd heaven right here! Books. Books. And more books. There was something for everyone who likes to read. There is also a huge newsstand, magazine stand in the back of the store as well. Lots of books on sale as well. And of course the coffee shop inside definitely will keep you seated with a book in hand for a little while as well”

“Our family of 4 saw Pirates of Penzance here yesterday and really enjoyed it. Top notch show by a mix of national and university performers. Excellent stage sets and impressive sound quality. While it's definitely not broadway, for $30 a ticket I believe it's an incredible value for the quality and scale of performance. We loved it and may purchase season tickets for next summer. Highly recommend!”
