30027 WA-706, AshfordHonestly, this joint was amazing for us after a long drive to Rainier. We stopped here for a quick lunch before entering the gate. The base camp area looks great — a lot of outdoor seating and a cool setup. Decent parking too. It wasn't too busy when we arrived, so we had no issue parking and grabbing our burgers and drinks.
The burgers here are really, really good. My wife said it's one of the best burgers she's had. It's not a restaurant burger, and it's not a fast food burger. It's more like the fresh patty and bun experience you get at a picnic when someone's grilling at the park. That kind of good, fresh burger — I hadn't had one in a while, so we really enjoyed it.
The place is pretty chill, right outside Mount Rainier. There are other shops around where you can rent gear or buy equipment. Definitely a worthwhile stop before you enter Rainier National Park. The burgers are killer. If we come back to Rainier, we'd stop here again.

Whittaker's Bunkhouse
30205 WA-706, AshfordStaff at check in and in the coffee shop were great. Location is convenient and the grounds are beautiful.
The room is small, which is manageable, but the full sized mattress is flat, firm, and on a sheet of plywood - and likely needed to be upgraded a few years ago. Room is very simply furnished with the bed, two side tables and lamps, a bench and the bathroom. WiFi was spotty at best.
Great location, beautiful property and friendly staff help make up for it but a comfortable bed after a day in the National Park is needed.
