“Cozy, welcoming, exhaustive, not overly precious. Love Paper Boat. It's my local bookstore and go to place for all kids birthday gifts. The place isn't huge, but they always have the things I want or can get it shipped asap. They also have very well curated cute ephemera, tchotchkes, and gifts, and I always leave with at least one sheet of/ large puffy sticker as a motivation prize for the Child.”
“Best used and new bookstore I've ever visited! Pegasus is where I go anytime I'm moving on to my next read. No more online or big box book shopping for this household :) They also have the most reasonable and affordable trade-in programs! It actually encourages folks to buy used. The staff are incredible! They know books well -- ask for suggestions! You will not be disappointed. Their location is not convenient for me, but the 25 minute drive is worth it, every time. As long as we live in Seattle, Pegasus is the place we'll shop for books. In fact, I'm going today to get a couple books I have on hold. Thanks, Pegasus!!!”
“Beautifully curated Indie book shop that has a large selection of new books, gifts and bookish items. Hands down best selection of LGBTQ+ book selection for adults and kids I have seen at a smaller book store.”
“Well organized bookstore with a pleasant atmosphere. Local artists' work all around, comfy chairs to peruse books in, nice little cafe in the back. Knowledgeable staff to assist if you need help. Just an all-around nice place to be!”
“We just moved back to the area from New England and our first stop was Sluys. It was Halloween and we couldn't help but notice the clever "Redrum" display in this shop's window. So when family came to visit in December we went back. We had SO much fun in this shop. Mostly searching through buckets of rubber duckies. The owner was very friendly and helpful and treated us amazingly well. Thank you! We cannot wait to come back and get serious about some book shopping!”
“I am obsessed with this book store. It’s small, so there’s a little less selection, but I love book stores with a lot of staff recommendations. They have an entire wall with staff recommendations and another entire shelf! Their puzzles are also SO cute and they have a ton of local cards, stickers, and art.”
“A neighborhood gem! They offer such a wonderful selection of books, free wrapping for gifts, and the coziest atmosphere. One of my favorites in Seattle and a delightful find for Christmas shopping.”
“I've been going to Secret Garden for years, a much-loved resource. Buy books online, pay at the store when you pick it up. My most recent purchase was a pre-order, which was a good thing, because the book was so popular, that the first print run was sold out, except for the ones who had preordered.”
“We drove from Lake Tapps to go to this store for our daughter’s first birthday. After checking Apple Maps, who didn’t have the correct winter hours listed, we were excited. When we got there we discovered they were closed on Tuesdays. My husband called the number listed for package deliveries and spoke to the owner. They were so incredibly generous; enough to come down and open the store for the birthday girl. The kind lady who opened the store was sweet enough to help us find a toy that our daughter utterly loved and made her whole day. I wish we could find a way to thank these guys enough. They made the whole experience magical. Thank you for going out of your way to do something so amazing for Amelia!!!”
“OMG! i LOVE bo! whenever we set down he RAN into our lab set down and started purring. he wouldn’t leave. i tried to get him off me but he got super mad so we stayed for an hour until he got sick of sitting on me and got up to eat. they also have great books and the staff is really helpful and very nice! if you love cats you HAVE TO GO!”
“Was here the first day of summer quarter and was seen immediately, and the people working there were all kind and knowledgeable about where to get my supplies (not the easiest thing to pull of since I was talking weird due to dental work).”
“Great small town bookstore with a broad selection of fiction and nonfiction as well as a children’s section. Worth the ferry ride over if you are in Seattle. Friendly staff as well.”
