I had package delivered to wrong place, which wasn't great, but the counter folks were able to track it down, and had a driver hand it to me. The man at the counter even offered to get it when he got off work, then the driver was found.
EXCELLENT COUNTER PERSONNEL.

They don't even try to deliver packages they just leave a note so you can pick it up your self then they talk to you like you're stupid when go to pick it up.

When a package is sent via Gig Harbor USPS they are never ever delivered.
They never knock on the door to attempt to contact or deliver. It’s like they’re too lazy to get out of the van.
I always have to hunt for my packages, sometimes waiting additional days until my package has returned to the center. I always have to go in to the post office location and pick it up and god forbid I am busy traveling for work and cannot pick it up during their open hours in the timeframe they give me and then the package gets returned even though I have someone housesitting to ensure my mail gets to me.
I have waited at home for important packages like prescriptions and I always get their little card saying they attempted or that there was no where secure or that no one was home.
I have waited at the door, I have secure spaces to leave packages. I and my family have spoken to workers at the office and have been told it is because of Covid that they do not knock at the door, but I moved from Seattle a year ago to be closer to family and Seattle USPS always delivered to my door or at the very least attempted to make contact. Very rarely did I have to hunt my packages down the way I do here in Gig Harbor.
I travel a lot for work and have had to order my prescriptions to friends or family addresses to ensure delivery.
Every other delivery service delivers to my home without any issue. Avoid this USPS at all costs.

When Amazon contracts them to deliver your packages good luck because you won't get your package because the driver won't deliver it and they will send it back to the original seller! Keeps happening.

My mail keeps getting lost! You can go on line to see what mail is coming to your house and it's not in there today the only thing was Safeway adds ! I check for me was lost between Oklahoma and gig harbor ! They stuff packages in mail box's because they don't want to go to your door!

I go in multiple times per week to ship stuff and check the PO Box. Joe, Carla, Natalia, and Dan are always helpful and friendly. Always take care of me and my requests, even though they are always busy/overworked. I enjoy my trips in to visit the crew, highly recommended.

This branch’s employees take it upon themselves to decide which packages to be dropped off at the door or not.
In our case, my wife just got to WA and is staying with a family friend while starting her transfer at the VA.
So, her car breaks down and I had to send a replacement part for the repair to save thousands at the dealership.
The mail delivery individual decides not to leave the package at the residence because of an unfamiliar name on the recipient label. What??!!! Are you kidding me, we are having an emergency! Needless to say we are more than upset… Going to this branch to pick up the package with the door note, they will not release it because it doesn’t match the address on her ID.
I called customer support and they provided me with the Gig Harbor usps branch phone number, so I could talk to them from Missouri, and try to explain the situation. Nobody answered the phone for what must have been at least 20 calls.
These workers have no respect for our time, money and frustration they cause, when they should be providing valuable and reliable service to the public.
Shame on you Gig Harbor USPS
There are plenty of people who are more than willing to get a chance to prove themselves and find pride in what they love to do, and are full with integrity.
Maybe it’s time to shake the tree….

April 1, 2025 update: continued bad service and horrible lack of basic common sense decisions by this post office. I was nice when I went in to discuss Mom's missing pension checks and excess charges for shipping already paid for delivery but when I needed better help than the Clerk could provide and to escalate to Postmaster the clerk turned into a bully. I hope this post office is under review, they can and should do better by our citizens. We have spent the last hour on their phone system trying to send back a package undelivered but their automated system is obsolete garbage, they know it and do nothing about it.
Horrible customer service. When 2 packages are lost you have no opportunity to speak with anyone. Been trying for days to reach someone. After over an hour with their phone service their robot says they'll call me tomorrow.
I highly recommend UPS and FedEx for any deliveries. USPS just can't get the work done. They're bankrupt and should be shut down to save us all the trouble.
Still no resolution. Done buying anything being shipped USPS.

I have never experienced such abuse of power in my life. When did the post service gain the authority to decide which packages would be delivered/ sent back? My nieces birthday present was sent back and now I have to figure out where it went. Thanks a heap. I will just be having my stuff sent to fox island going forward because they are reliable and friendly. Tired of playing Russian roulette with the mail which seemingly is all the Gig harbor post office is good for

Friendly workers, lots of them smile and greet you in a timely manner. Easy to do quick drop offs with prepaid packages. The entrance to the facility could look more organized and clean. Paint and floors should be updated and not peeling or chipped. Lots of posting of ads just bunched together, looks cluttered. Windows and doors should be cleaned regularly. This post office specifically does an amazing job being patient with customers who need step by step help with what their wishes are for their mail delivery options. When lines back up, someone steps up and calls the next customer.
