I want to be crystal clear: this review is for the official U-Haul store in Kenmore, WA (not the small gas station rental nearby). I used This Uhaul for *my junk removal & handyman / mobile auto body repair/auto glass replacement business* last winter, 2025.
I’ve been around a lot of businesses in my life. I grew up working on cars, spent over 15 years in the collision repair industry, and I’ve lived in Kenmore and the surrounding area for decades. I’ve rented from many U-Haul locations and other truck companies, and none of them even come close to this one.
*The manager, Mike Phillips*, sets the bar for what customer service should look like in today’s world. From the moment I walked in, it was clear that this wasn’t about squeezing out profit — this was about people, respect, and integrity. He went above and beyond in every possible way, making the process easy, fair, and even encouraging. If I could give Mike and his team 10 stars, I would.
For me personally, this experience meant even more. I’m 32 years old, and my life has been defined by both highs and lows. I was once a multi-sport athlete with Division 1 scholarships in basketball and football. But after tearing my ACL, MCL, and suffering a broken back, those dreams ended early. Since then, I’ve battled herniated discs, kidney disease, and other health challenges. I’ve had to rebuild my life piece by piece.
Starting a business has been my way forward — a way to support my family despite these setbacks. Walking into this U-Haul, I could have easily been taken advantage of because I’m new to this side of things. Instead, Mike and his staff treated me with empathy, fairness, and professionalism that is rare to find today. They gave me confidence when I needed it most, and honestly, they gave me hope.
The trucks are clean and well-maintained, the staff are kind and efficient, and the communication is excellent. But it’s more than that — this team operates with humanity. They understand that life isn’t always easy, and they meet you where you’re at. That’s not just customer service. That’s leadership.
From me, my wife, and my family: thank you. I will never go to another rental company again, because I know I’ve found the best right here in Kenmore. This location isn’t just the best in Snohomish or King County — it’s the gold standard for U-Haul nationwide. Mike Phillips, you deserve recognition far beyond this store. U-Haul corporate should take note — because leaders like you don’t come around often.”

“This is a long overdue review, but I have to say - I am always so amazed by the quality of service here at Salmon Repair Center. I have had my car serviced here for years since 2021 and the mechanics have always had my back and answered all my questions and concerns as someone who isn't all that great with car stuff. I am lucky to live so close to this place as it's so much for accessible for me to stay at home while they work on my car. I really appreciate the people working here, like Kevin and James, who have gone above and beyond with servicing my car. Their pricing is very fair for the work that they do and I honestly don't mind paying the price of the repairs since it's high quality work. They always give a call when they're done running the initial diagnostics and give a quote for the price(s) of the repair(s) that need to be done. I noticed they have a minimum charge of $99-199 for the diagnostics which I wasn't aware it was a thing until recently, but I'd still pay any price to get my car serviced here since everyone is so amazing and their service is amazing.”

“Recently picked up a truck for a quick move a few heavy stuffs. Book in advance- that's important. My pick up time was at 9am, right when they open. The truck was ready. Easy paperwork and I was out in less than 10 mins. They charge $0.99 per mile on top of the rent. The service was just great. Very friendly staffs. They will explain the policies, process and what to be done while returning. Just one sign - that's all you need; rest is online. Quite a great experience. Recommended this place.”

“I had a lot of questions and some equipment of my own that I brought in. They were very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. They found exactly what I needed and were willing to take the time to be sure it was correct. Any time I need welding/soldering/heat treating equipment I will be going back to them.”

“Worked for the county and used to stop here, quickly - lol, in the morning. Was fun cause they had a trivia question each day.Have been in a few times lately. The store is a lot bigger than it looks from outside. Nice and roomy, clean, nice bathroom, has hot food and the cashier's are friendly. They also sell propane!”

“I reserved a 15-foot truck; my reservation was for 3:30. They called me an hour beforehand to let me know my truck was delayed, and they gave me a larger one instead. In the end, they resolved the issue, and I appreciate it.”

“John Mason didn't have to take all the time he did with me, to discuss what option was best for me on at least five different products and projects. He had the Saturday vibe VERY pleasant even when he was swamped all on his lonesome, three of us ugly buggers licking our lips. I'll be back, and truly John Mason is 77% of the reason why.”

“This was the smoothest rental and moving experience I've had in a long time. The day rate and self drop-off after hours is such a huge perk, everything went smoothly and easily. I also appreciated the amount of staff present in the morning upon pickup, I did not have to wait in line and got all the help I needed right away for a quick pick up of my truck. The truck was in great condition and was exactly what I needed to safely move my possessions. Thank you very much team Uhaul, keep up the great service at this location!!”

“I had a hitch installed on my sedan this week and it was an overall wonderful experience. My vehicle is neither common nor easy for hitch installation and Jake did a quick and quality job with the installation. The only frustration with my experience was that Uhaul doesn't offer a shuttle service and public transportation doesn't go within 40 minutes of my house. So, I had to wait at a nearby coffee shop until installation was complete. Thankfully, it was done in about 2 hours and I was on my way with a hitch that should last as long as my car does.”

“The office/store always smells like cigarette smoke which makes the experience a bit worse. The equipment was phenomenal though! It's very rare that I rent a truck that's this clean and modern and such. Truck drove and handled like a dream! The stairs built into the backside of the bed were very helpful for getting in and out of the bed. The self return site was NOT very user friendly. The picture taking and odometer entry verification sections were the least user friendly parts. At first the odometer kept including the placeholder zeros which initially charged me for driving 3,760 miles instead of the 78 I actually drove... Tip: if this happens to you, ignore the zeros and enter your odometer reading then move the cursor to just behind the last zeros and then you can finally delete them and be billed correctly! Pricing varies WILDLY within a hyper-local area! Kirkland Way Storage was $57.95 for 24 hts where as Kirkland U-Haul a mile up the road was nearly 50% cheaper!!! at $31.95! That's absurd! I only accidentally discovered this when I clicked the wrong location to restart my reservation online.”

“John was terrific for my hitch installation. He provided expert advice and explained the various options to me. He did a superb installation of an Ecohitch on my 2013 Toyota Highlander. Since I mentioned my failed DIY attempt with the 'recommended' Curt, he took the additional time to triple verify the fit of the Ecohitch through his sources. I even had a couple scews from my failed DIY that he found the correct homes for. I will eventually be getting a new car and will definitely be back for another hitch with John.”
