My dog has had shoulder surgery at VSC. The surgeon did a good job at explaining the surgery and answered my questions. I believe it was successful but it is such a long rehab that I won’t know for sure for 6 more weeks. The communication with the practice team is difficult as I believe they just don’t have enough staff which is no different than other specialized vet practices. My big beef with VSC is the price of their medications. I paid 8.7 times more for a prescription of Trazadone at VSC than at a small vet clinic. If you take your animal to VSC, see if you can get a prescription filled at Costco or have your regular vet fill it. For perspective, one 100 mg pill cost $1.74 at VSC but 20 cents at my vet’s office!

We were in a situation where we were calling every 24 hour emergency vet line because we thought our dog busted a stitch. The veterinarian that helped us was incredible. She had us send photos of the spot and reassured us immediately. She eased our nerves (which in turn, eased our dog’s nerves), and told us exactly what to do and what to look for. If needed, we will absolutely use their 24 hour vet and if we lived closer this would be our go to. THANK YOU, to the veterinarian that helped us tonight. My husband didn’t get a name, but we would love to recognize you for how helpful and kind you were to us!

I have had only good experiences at Veterinary Specialty Center of Seattle. The staff is always kind, courteous, and professional. I feel like everyone is knowledgeable in their areas of expertise and genuinely wants to help your pet. Be aware: it can be costly and wait times are often long, depending on the time of day you visit.

Snakes in the grass! The Staff are beautiful people, but they aren't able to tell you that if you decline the in person Uthanizing in lieu of taking your animals to the other room! There is a 200$ difference In price! If you are short on money? Don't do the in room service!

Dr. Chan was amazing. She explained everything in detail from the get go. I felt that she could tell when I was emotionally distraught over some of the answers she would give me and would positively redirect, but still be professional. Communication was A1. I’m so happy she gave me the news that my Blink will be okay. Best Christmas present ever! My other two pets will now come here because of her.

Spend thousands and get zero help after you leave. Don’t call back with test results in over 8 days. Have zero answers to any post operative questions. Go anywhere else.

We recently brought our dog Cosmo to VSC after he lost the ability to use his back legs. We arrived at 3am on a Saturday morning after being referred from another emergency location and he received an MRI and was in surgery by Saturday afternoon.Throughout his stay, we received numerous updates about his condition and what was happening. After surgery he stayed in the hospital for three days and the neurologist called us every morning and evening to let us know how he was doing. After Cosmo came home, we ran into a few problems that required us to head back to VSC for some assistance. Each time we were welcomed and provided incredible support with the things we were struggling with. Every team member we interacted with at VSC was so compassionate and kind. They always took the time to make sure we knew what was going on and had all the information we needed.

We experienced from the minute we walked in with our sweet Meli, expert care. We were scared and she was having trouble breathing - triage was quick and communication was professional and caring. She ended up having surgery and we were consulted on every decision that was made towards her care. No surprises financially, they were transparent on all aspects of the costs involved. Dr Duval, Dr. Sari (sp sorry) and Dr. McDonald and Dr. French were wonderful, warm and caring as well as the supporting team. Thank you so much!

We had a cat that has been going there since April. We’d wait over 30 minutes in the lobby, which is fine and understandable. They took a biopsy that was inclusive so instead of running more tests, they misdiagnosed her. Every month she’d nearly die because she’d stop eating. Our primary vet would send us here. Every time they’d gaslight us and not run more tests even though she’d be on the brink of death by starvation. They would give her fluids and send her home. After months of this, our primary vet got fed up with them because her diagnosis was clearly incorrect after thousands of dollars. They referred us elsewhere out of frustration and she finally had tests ran about a week ago. Her red blood cell count was 13%. Today she died because her lungs and intestines were filled with fluid and she was painfully drowning in her own fluid. If they ran tests and didn’t gaslight us, maybe our cat would still be here. I find it infuriating that they would just give her fluids and tell us she’s fine even when appetite stimulant wasn’t working, she was throwing up massive amounts, and would almost starve to death every month and when we took her to a new place, she had to be put down within a week because of their negligence. Don’t go to this place, it seems as though they don’t see your family members as loved ones and just a quick thousand bucks and don’t take the time to care about their life. We trusted them with our cat’s life and had no reason to not and they took advantage of that and it costed a life.

It's hard to give this place a single rating. I think the care is as good and competent and professional as you can get anywhere, and I would not hesitate to advise you to take your pet there if there is an immediate, urgent need or a serious condition (5 stars). On the other hand, the charges are outrageous, and I would not advise you to bring your pet here, ever, if there was another option that provided the same quality of care, unless you have a lot of money available, or pet insurance. After our dog was seen and examined here, which included an MRI, they charged us $7.18 for a single Gabapentin tablet (you can get 30 for around $8.00 at a regular pharmacy); $9.75 for one codeine tablet, $79.00 for 15 codeine tablets to take home which I could have gotten for $30.00 at our local pharmacy. I haven't had time to compare prices for the other procedures like complete blood count, catheterization, anesthesia (that was $502 for a 15-1/2 pound dog). I rate them a 0 (zero) for their excessive, unconscionable pricing. There you have it: go there if you really have to, if it's an emergency, or if you have a lot of money to spend. Don't go there if you have another option where you can get good care and they don't charge exorbitant, shameful fees.

Took my dog to local veterinarian for check up and shots. Said dog was healthy. Next day he was in congestive heart failure but by then office was closed. Took him to VSC and they were fantastic! Kept him over night and got fluid off his lungs and breathing better. Came home with meds. When we couldn't get pills down the dog called my local vet again. Again they did nothing. VSC was very good about getting him compound meds to take as liquid. They are awesome!

We lost our beloved dog Loki two weeks ago. His health deteriorated quickly and it was a very difficult time for us. The staff at VSC were nothing but compassionate, gentle, and empathetic as we said goodbye. When we came in for a visit we were given a sketch that one of the technicians made while caring for him. It was one of the kindest gestures, and brings a tear to my eye anytime I look at it. Losing Loki was one of the worst things I’ve ever been through, but I know he was loved and cared right until the end.

My 11 month old English Bulldog, Lily, ate about 35 pieces of gum sweetened with xylitol. I took her to Veterinary Specialty Center on Saturday morning and the outlook was grim due to severe liver damage. She was cared for around the clock and was discharged the following Wednesday, well on the way to recovery. It seems almost miraculous considering the condition she was in the first few days. The excellent care she received at VSC saved her life!

If your pet has an emergency outside your pet's primary veterinarian, this is the place to go. Not only are they prompt, but options were clear, estimates accurate, and the well being of our dog Twister, was the primary focus. They are the best around.
