About Colman Park Beach

Colman Park Beach is a wonderful, serene waterside park and a favorite beach in the area, considered a true gem and the best in Seattle. It is a nice place to escape from the city, offering great and perfect views of the lake and Mount Rainier on a clear day. It is not very busy and extremely serene, with good grass and easy access to the water. It is a great place to sit and watch events like Seafair, the hydroplane races, and the air show. People come for jogging, walking dogs, fishing, longboarding, kayaking, and paddleboarding. There is a nice wide area under a tree to get into the water. In summer, it is busy with good weather, lots of ice cream trucks, and topless bathing, but there is always plenty of space to spread out. The parking area is small with only about 20 spots, so parking is limited and can get tight. For convenience, plan to come very early or later in the day, especially with watercraft. Otherwise, there is ample parking one street over, and it is an easy walk. Be warned it is a high car prowl area. There are no restrooms at the beach itself. Restrooms are about .15 miles away but are almost always disgusting, with only one urinal and stall. It is dog-friendly with a leash required. There is no playground; bring your own picnic setup.
