The Rainshadow Butcher at the Melrose Market is my go-to place for the finest in meats. Unsurpassed quality, at a premium price, which I’m happy to pay.

Cool spot. Too bad there aren't more businesses inside. I come here for Sankaku, a Japanese owned onigiri shop that also sells bento and they have a bar. Everything here is delicious. Haven't tried the other businesses here (there are three others), but they look very nice.

I recommended going up into the loft next to homegrown to Greenfire loft! Amazing experiences like sneaky books, candles, cocktail labs, and more! Great place. I love rain shadow meats.

You could not pay me to eat there. Rude people who purposely are dicks to people. One boy/girl was just mean. Whoever owns this place needs to look for people who are respectful.

Honestly, underwhelming. Homegrown is engaging in union busting. Most of the stores are a price point even beyond the typical cap hill tech bro. There are better local places to shop that don't break the bank.

Great sandwiches and salads. I had the turkey avocado and split the cranberry chicken salad with the wife-ster. Everything was very tasty and unique to this place. Only thing we didn't like was the "self service" order pad that is not welcoming. Why should I leave a tip ( I did) when there is no hospitality, no recommendations avail, and the tables were dirty and u have to bus your own table.

Rain Shadow meats is a good butcher, but you pay for it. Homegrown is a good sandwich and salad spot for a quick bite. Haven't tried the wine spot as it was closed the last couple of times in there.

Rainshadow meats is wonderful. The butchers know their stuff, they’re super accommodating, and the pre-marinaded foods have saved my bacon a number of times.

Partner and I made an order for delivery via Homegrown’s website which was fulfilled by toasttab. A brown paper bag with no receipt or order ticket arrived 25 minutes late. The bag clearly contained someone else’s order so we tried to call the driver and Homegrown, but the driver did not answer and the phone number on Homegrown’s website was “disconnected”. We tried another number to reach the store but only got a busy signal. We decided to walk the wrong order back to Homegrown to see what happened and if they could make it right. When we explain what occurred and asked what could be done about it, the person behind the counter simply replied “…ya we’ve had a lot of problems with deliveries today…”. After an awkward pause, my partner spotted our order still sitting on their pick-up counter and pointed it out. The person behind the counter reported that “..oh ya, that order never got picked up…”. I asked if we could just do a swap while we were there and they said “…sure…”. There was no apology, no initiative to make anything right, and no offer for a refund or anything…we had just walked in the hot sun all the way there, so once the person reluctantly agreed, I immediate made the swap and left the mystery order there and we walked out. We would have felt much better if the person working at the time expressed any interest in making it right, but because they made no effort, I was livid and could not find the polite words at the time to request a refund, so we walked out with our cold food and back into the hot sun and made it home. When I opened the order, it turned out they still got part of it wrong (was supposed to receive gf bread but it was not) which is not the biggest deal, but on top of the wrong order being delivered late in addition to having to walk there just to contact anyone, I think this will be the last order we make from this place. Homegrown on Melrose used to be great, however this place has consistently declined over the years - food quality and customer service at this location make it feel closer to a strip mall Subway but with grouchier people somehow… If you’re thinking of ordering from here, do yourself a favor and spend a couple extra bucks to get something actually good from the Honeyhole up the street…
