A Cautionary Tale: My Experience with Seattle Vault Storage
Calling Seattle Vault Storage “secure” is a contradiction in terms. Anyone can walk into the facility, hop on the elevator, and access any floor without restriction. There’s no real security presence, and the staff—young, visibly insecure, and often erratic—raise serious concerns. I even questioned whether substance abuse might be at play.
I rented one of the largest units available. Within 20 minutes of signing the lease, the staff’s demeanor shifted dramatically—from polite to hostile. I was threatened with eviction simply for using the loading dock. Roger, one of the employees, is dishonest, rude, and lazy. His colleague is no better. They don’t clean, they don’t assist, and they seem more focused on scheming than serving.
I run a sewing factory, and they attempted to seize my property using a bogus 19-day notice—claiming I overstayed my time limit and failed to move my car while actively loading. Yes, they enforce arbitrary time limits on how long you can be at your own storage unit.
They’re consistently late, and their behavior reeks of power-tripping. Complaints to upper management go nowhere. If you’re considering renting here, I strongly advise you to reconsider. This place is unsafe, unprofessional, and anything but secure.
It’s a dismal, depressing environment where hostility seems to be the norm. I’ve already lost valuable items—and I fear others will too. Stay away.

This is by far the best storage facility I’ve used. I own a business nearby and keep excess equipment and inventory here. I’ve had to switch unit sizes several times and the staff (Roger and nick) were very kind and accommodating every time! Also they have been transparent with their pricing up front which is a huge relief. I highly recommend

This storage place was ok the first time I went in, to sign up and rent a unit.
After that they have this air about themselves that really is a put off.
They have different times you can use the dock, which they say is 5:30 pm when they close the door, but if you arrive at 5:25 they tell you it's to close to 5:30 and won't open the door for you.
BUT, if you want to walk it through the front door you can.
The policies they have are on the counter but not every representative goes over that with you so it leaves you with a bad taste in your mouth about how things are done.
Also I noticed some of the employees creeping around and listening to you're conversation like they are waiting to catch you breaking a rule.
I got mine on special for 3 months and I'm changing to a different storage place when my 3 months ends.
I just don't really have anything good to say about this place or the management.
My recommendation is bypass this business altogether, the prices are not worth what you have to endure here.

They don't have any restrooms for customers, but that's my only complaint now. I had a unit here years ago and found the staff to be very... Challenging. But I recently helped a friend with a move into this facility and the management on site at this time is exceptional. Like many others in the downtown area, this facility does have a somewhat earlier closing time than those a bit outside the core. Typically this place closes up in the evenings around 6pm but I'm not sure the exact times. Given the kindness and professionalism shown by the current staff, as well as pricing that tends to be far better than any others near downtown, I am very comfortable recommending Seattle vault storage with a 5 star rating.

I’m shocked this business is still open. They ruined my friend’s $3000 couch, she had to *fight* to get a new unit of the same size, and after a lot of having to advocate for herself they gave it to her. I went to help her move her stuff. She had to remove some plastic wrap to get photos of the damaged sofa for insurance. There wasn’t a trash bin anywhere so we carried the plastic downstairs and put it in a small bin behind the front desk.
The front desk guy immediately goes “it’s a $100 dumping fee.” Like straight-faced. He was for real. I was shocked. This is for a sofa that they ruined. The regional manager later told my friend that wouldn’t be the case, but it didn’t take away from the fact that we had to remove the wrap and walk around the neighborhood trying to find a dumpster to put it in. It was absolutely wild.
Do NOT store here if you can help it. They will make your life miserable. It’s been a nightmare for her from start to finish.

Complete scam artists and terrible staff. I was trying to unload my belongings into my storage unit and I was halfway done when the staff rudely closed at 6 PM and locked me out of the building with my stuff in the elevator still! They stole my items and refused to even open the door back up just leaving stuff in the elevator! I have never been treated so disrespectfully in my life. Filing a civil lawsuit in the morning. Do not store your items with these thieves!

Have been using this storage facility for the past few months and honestly it’s a great value- large unit for the price as compared with other storage cos- have used two different ones in Seattle and we are getting double the space at about 2/3 of the price. It is clean and well maintained. Unique set up in gaining access but has never been an issue for us to get items as needed. Roger was great to work with!

I needed to access my storage unit on a Monday for which their operating hours are 8am-6pm.
Came at 9:45am. The office is closed and there’s a clock sign that says they’ll be back at 10:45am.
I went on with my day expecting to be able to access my unit in the afternoon, so I came back at 5:35pm. They’re closed again with the clock sign now saying they’ll be back at 8:30am.
Why aren’t they open during their advertised hours? There is no sign expanding why, and calling them leads to voicemail. This is hugely inconvenient for customers who need to access their storage unit.
Giving 2 stars because their front desk customer service rep that I’ve interacted with in the past was super nice and helpful.

The manager is really nice; the building is very secure; reasonably priced units, and great move-in promotions. However, the storage units are not heated (as advertised), and are kept cold to prevent occupancy, per management.

I was homeless in 2019 and I needed somewhere to store my valuables until I could rent a place with my section 8 housing voucher. They told me they couldn't serve me. I ended up renting a space at Extra Space Storage in North Seattle. They are professional, cheap and have convenient hours.

The Vault is a very well protected and safe area. The facility is very clean, and Roger, the staff personnel, is extremely professional and customer service friendly. Thank you, Roger, for all you do.
