DO NOT RENT FROM HERTZ. We usually rent from enterprise but there was a problem and they ran out of cars, literally. So, we were desperate as we were on a work trip and needed a very large SUV. Hertz was the only place that had one. They GOUGED us on the rate for the car. We nearly tripled what we were paying at enterprise. We paid it though because we were just happy they had a car the size we needed. The guy asked me if I wanted any coverage I said no and he said ok well don’t worryit “comes with the liability coverage”. I was like oh ok never heard that before, but that’s cool. I STUPIDLY assumed it was because of how much they were charging me for the car per day. So, I initialed next to the TOTAL amount of the rental. He just kept saying it was included with the type of car we had. So, I trusted him like a moron because he seemed so nice and helpful at the time. Come to find out he CHARGED me nearly 600 dollars for the coverage that I verbally declined. I have witnesses who heard me decline ALL coverages to him and on the flip side they heard him say the full coverage was included. If they pulled the footage they’d hear the guy told me it was included and they’d hear me tell him before that, that I’m declining all coverages. I called hertz customer service today who referred it back to the Spokane location who then denied the refund because they said I accepted and signed for it. I told them the entire story and they insisted I accepted it and won’t refund me the cost of the added insurance. It’s pathetic because I’m not even trying to get a refund or discount on the actual cost of the car, which quite frankly, I should be given the horrific condition. I’m simply asking for the coverage I declined to be refunded, but they’re refusing. Not to mention that, when we got our car it was FILTHY, and then the next day the check engine light comes on and says there is no oil in the vehicle. At this point we were an hour away from Hertz with Jam packed days so we couldn’t get back out. We just kept driving it. Fast forward, i return that car to get a different one as I had to extend my trip and the new car is also filthy. This time a few hours later the car tells me the air in one of the tires is low and I need to fill it. Since when is it a customers responsibility to maintain a rental vehicle?
I will NEVER rent from hertz again. This was one of the worst rental car experiences I’ve ever had, and the customer service is some of the worst I’ve ever experienced.

If I could give negative stars, I would. Shane should be washing cars and not customer facing. When I went to pick up my rental today, I noticed that Hertz had no customers in line while all the other companies had long lines. Shane was pretty rude the entire time we were getting the rental processed.
As we finalized our rental, I asked to add my spouse as an authorized driver which I know as a Gold Member is a no charge option. Shane informed me that it would be 13.00 per day to add my wife unless I was a Gold Member or AAA. I informed him that I was both of those and he stated that I needed to cancel the reservation and make one through Hertz or AAA. Of course, my rate would no longer be valid and I would be charged a much higher price. My wife who is a National Car Emerald Club member said just cancel and we would go to National. Shane basically said good riddance and we went to National. We got a car from National and since we had to wait about 15 minutes for a vehicle to be ready, they upgraded us two car classes. The manager at National said she appreciated Shane greatly as lots of people rented from National after experiencing his attitude first hand.

Ryan checked me in for the vehicle and he was very friendly and helpful, I got to drive a lovely new Chevy Blazer with only 300 miles on the clock

Very rude and disrespectful service agent. I had a vehicle rented and reserved for a trip. The agent was about to give me keys to a vehicle, then decided split second he didn’t have one and wouldn’t giving me one. It seemed like his personal decision to not follow through with the rental agreement because he was overwhelmed with customers.

Returning paperwork upon return is a silly requirement, particularly when there is a line. The nice person behind the counter was understaffed and ill equipped to handle the situation, but tried super hard :)

Reserved a standard car, pre paid, and scheduled a pick up time. When I got there they didn't have the car I paid to reserve and said either wait 4 hours or pay 40 dollars more. Needed the car at that time so I paid extra as they wouldn't budge on the price. Called customer service and they were able to refund me. This location is scamming everyone

Wish I could give 0 stars. Scammers that will charge you double than your original receipt and give you no explanation. Avoid at all costs!!!!!

Bait and switch! Reserved a standard car. When we arrived they said that had no cars at all, but we could upgrade to an SUV for only $20 per day! I'm like no, if you don't have the car we reserved,..or ANY car for that matter, it's customary to upgrade at no charge. He said no they can't do that. He asked if we have a costco card and offered a $2 discount, so only $18 per day to upgrade. I told him to cancel. We took an Uber. Worth noting: we're Presidents Circle. Loyalty doesn't matter at this location. Book another rental company.

Shelly was absolutely amazing! She helped us with our upgrade to fit all the girls for my bachelorette! She was so accommodating, extremely kind and helpful with all our requests and needs! Thank you so much Shelly for starting off my bachelorette weekend perfectly! If you rent here ask for our girl Shelly!

Reserved a van from Budget only to be told they didn’t have one and had no vehicles to fit my family. Jordan from Hertz came over and saved the day. Got us into a large SUV at a very competitive price. Our camping trip only happened because Jordan and Hertz stepped up to help my family out when they didn’t have to.

I’ll admit I was a bit skeptical about renting from Hertz at Spokane Airport after reading some poor reviews, and seeing that other companies had long lines while Hertz had almost none. But it turned out to be a great experience! Check-in was quick and easy with two people working the counter, and we were on our way in no time. The midsized SUV was clean, comfortable, and perfect for our trip. No complaints at all—Hertz really delivered a smooth, hassle-free rental.

We were trying to book a car from Seattle airport to Spokane airport. Immediately after booking we saw it got booked for Spokane to Spokane(that doesn’t work) so we called within 5minutes of booking and they said there is nothing they will do for us. It’s not like it was even an 1hr later or the day of, we called immediately and they just kept telling us there is nothing they can do. Horrible customer service! Do not go with this company as if you mess up they DO NOT CARE! So we had to rent another car through Enterprise because of course we will NEVER choose Hertz car rental again!

Absolutely terrible check in process where the employee was both rude and actively trying to scam me. First I told him I prepaid, he tried charging my card for the full amount saying he couldn’t see it on his side until I showed him the receipt. Then he offered an upgrade, implying that it was free for the inconvenience, then I read that would have doubled my cost. Then he offered to cut it in half and upon getting the key I find out the original car I rented wasn’t available. When I reported the damage on the car. The employee acted annoyed that I wanted a copy, since at this point I caught him lying 5 times. Honestly maybe the location is fine, but the employee was terrible

I reserved an “economy managers special “ for my wife going out to Spokane to visit our daughter.
They gave her a 12 person van and when she complained they gave her a Ford Escape for $75/day extra after saying they had no other vehicles. When she called to tell me I got on the phone with the desk agent and told her that’s unacceptable. She then said they had a sedan that they would do for $45/ day extra. I told her that this was the worst bait and switch I have ever seen. She said her manager told her to do it and could not get it changed.
They had cars, just not her economy car. I filed a formal complaint directly with Hertz Corporate under case # xxxxxxxx. I expect a formal apology for such a ridiculous situation to put my wife in.
This is an issue of principles and I am patient enough to jump through the hoops to make an example of this situation on behalf of every weary traveler that has to put up with this kind of crap.
BTW, after 35 years of travel and using many car rental places I chose and signed up my wife to be Hertz Gold and this was her first personal reservation.
Not a great first impression. Not a great manager at Spokane!
Hertz Corporate reached out to resolve the issue so I am taking my review from 1 to 4. Maybe the Spokane can accomodate directly in the future but thank you Hertz Corporate for great customer service.
