I used to come to Pro Max in the mid-90s. I had a small 72 Nova and I thought I was the bee's knees. I'd ask the dudes at the counter if they had any extra decals/stickers and I'd walk out with a lode of them. So glad this place is still going, great people. Many years ago, but they always treated me well and didn't make fun of me when I was a kid.

I was so thankful for Kris and his crew for going out of their way to help me with a job totally unrelated to mufflers!!!
I just needed a few ‘welds’ on some chairs for an antique garden table and chairs. It is obvious why this company is successful…I won’t hesitate to send clients their way for their speciality, mufflers, etc…and maybe the odd job!!!

I took my wife's father's 1976 Ford Truck in to have an engine swap with a 460 Ford crate engine. They made the swap, and I'm happy about the work done but the engine came with the March V-belt system, and they had no idea why the V-belt kept popping when running. We spent over $28K and we still cannot drive the truck 10 miles without the belt shredding and popping off. They rushed us to pick the truck up without fixing this issue. When asking the manager Chris what shall we do about this issue, he stated he didn't know, but the truck must be moved ASAP. I had a few things pop-up in my mind, but I couldn't react on them. I advise others not to use this shop. See you guys in court.

BEWARE! Bait and switch. Get any estimates in writing prior to agreeing to service. Called and was quoted "$250 with parts and labor." Arrived to drop off my car and suddenly they "forgot" to tell me about an additional $80 (so, $330 - $363 with taxes). Then, when I picked it up, they actually charged me $408, so $158 more than my $250 quote- or, a 63% price increase. Lesson learned on my end!
Definitely don't recommend women use this shop after reading similar reviews other women experienced here. Sad, I wanted to continue to support a locally owned business.

Brought my truck in for a manifold job and didn’t expect these guys to be done so quick. Steve and his guys are the most friendliest you’ll meet, and they took the time to clean and tidy up after doing what is needed. Honestly I would highly recommend them and I will surely be returning again!

Without a doubt Austin’s Pro Max has to be one of the best auto repair shops in Tacoma. My car was running really rough, so I took it in and they carried out a full diagnosis and did a great tune-up on the engine with spark plugs, ignition coils and even repaired some damaged wiring…Unfortunately the car had other issues due to strange choices BMW made with their onboard computer, so the team were really honest and gave me a great discount as the car needed to go to a BMW garage. The service was great and Steve was brilliant at keeping me updated on the progress, and I’m hugely grateful for their fairness and integrity throughout the process.
I’ve always said finding a trustworthy auto garage is rare, but I would definitely make these guys one of your first calls if you need anything done.

Searching for some brake calipers for a difficult car. Chris was really patient and helpful. I know they do good work on your car/truck, they also give a s$!t about helping you out. Thanks Chris, I appreciate you!

Was having electrical problems with my 2001 jeep wrangler, and couldn't do the repair myself, and didn't want to waste time, money throwing parts at something I'm not comfortable with. The guys at the shop looked at my jeep, and tested the entire system, even going to a Chrysler dealership, to check on a wiring issue which turned out to be not factory installed. They found all the issues, fixed, or replaced faulty parts, and even went up and above, fixing other minor things that I figured was just the cost of owning a used car. EVERYTHING works as it should, and I couldn't be happier. During the process, they even texted pictures of the problem parts, and their condition. Excellent work

Austin's Pro Max is an independent shop I enjoy working with when work requires non-warranty or OEM repairs. They have helped me install parts for a Jeep build over the years and aftermarket parts that franchise or OEM shops won't install. Prices are very fair for shop time, labor, parts.
