Why no more starting tape???Also way too many kids, they need to open up another area or location for the classes of kids. Often times they are warming up on the lower parts of the walls or are all doing group stretching covering 3 different anchors at a time, running under climbers, 10 kids stretching under the campus board. I get it, their parents pay for them to be there, but open up a new location for child classes so the gym can feel less crowded and less like a child play land. But seriously why no more starting tape??

Edgeworks is open with some cool routes and a sprinkle of bouldering, however the culture created by staff members was really disappointing. I would consider myself a beginner/intermediate climber. I've been an indoor and outdoor climber in Utah, Idaho, Oregon and some of Washington over the last few years. The climbing culture has always been really chill, positive, and encouraging everywhere I've been. I was asked to take a test to ensure I could demonstrate my belay/climb skills. While waiting for my turn one staff member interrupted the instructor for assistance at the front desk. Before helping him she quietly said (loud enough for me to hear) that the gentleman was "struggling" and he needed to "fail him." When it was my turn, my boyfriend and I were tested at the same time. The instructor (Gabby), wasn't clear about what she was asking, didn't inquire about our experience or ask how we've been taught in the past. I let go of the rope while she was attending to my boyfriend. At the end she looked at me and said, "hard fail" because I let go of the rope. I was visiting for the weekend from Boise so just planned to go this one time. She said I could climb but couldn't belay (although I've been doing it for some time now), and couldn't retest for 24-hours. It felt like a power struggle, pass/fail vs helpful environment. I'm sharing this information in hopes that perhaps the staff members can be better trained on people skills as well and teaching/instructing. I think it would create a more positive environment. I would recommend checking out other activities in Tacoma over checking out this climbing gym if you're just in the area for a visit.

Love climbing here. They have a good range of routes for bouldering and top rope. I also signed up for personal training sessions with Alex to focus on getting back in shape after a major injury. She was great about working with me to overcome climbing related fears and tailoring an exercise program to my specific goals. She is very motivational, knowledgeable, and encouraging. She even helped me create a routine for independent sessions and still checks in with me. If you are looking to improve your climbing, book some sessions with Alex!

We popped into the gym today to learn more about it near closing time and Matt and another Male coworker (Blonde short hair) were so kind and helpful. Matt gave us a tour and got us all set for when we come back to check it out. The other staff were hard at work cleaning. The gym with workout area and yoga studio was well kept clean and looked really cool. The workers were helpful with my very inquisitive son and really welcomed us to ask more questions. Very cool experience. Thanks! We will be back to check it out again and the kid camps.

I went with my overnight with my Scouting Troop and was amazing by the facility, but more importantly the staff. They were all very friendly, and almost never straight up told us no. They found solutions that were safe but also fun. There are areas ranging from easy to hard to very hard, and from rock climbing to crack climbing. All around a phenomenal experience.

During my visit to the climbing gym on a Tuesday afternoon while I was in town for a work trip, I found it to be quite busy. I was a bit disappointed by the limited number of lower level boulder routes available. The boulder problems seemed to be graded lower than what I would normally expect (in my opinion many V4 were more like a V5 for example), and I felt that many problems lacked the creative touch and attention to detail that would make them truly enjoyable and exciting. On a positive note, the staff at the gym was fantastic, providing excellent service throughout my visit. In terms of cleanliness and maintenance, while the overall establishment was fairly well kept, I did notice a few areas that could have used some extra attention. Thank you for the experience at this location but it was less than favorable overall, based on my personal expectations.

We took the introduction to climbing class with Nick who was fantastic. We are extreme beginners and his instruction was excellent. He truly made us feel comfortable and confident in the process.

I really enjoy climbing here. All the staff are super friendly and helpful when needed. The membership is well worth it, and the routes are changing consistently but not too often. I wish there was another location in Tacoma because it's always so busy! Such a good, supportive environment though, even when it is crowded.

Great place, great people, chill vibe. The staff is SO kind and welcoming. I've been coming here for about a month and I'm so happy to be a member. As a newer climber, I've always felt welcomed and accepted. Love Edgeworks!!

I've come about 5 times total and gotten a day pass every time. This was the first time the staff wasn't rude to me and my friend. Every other time when I come in the staff is very blunt and rude, it seems like I'm in convincing them since I have to rent a day pass. While the person we met at the front desk was nice the staff that was walking around wasn't nearly as nice. My friend and I are intermediate climbers and while we follow the basic commands such as 'on belay', 'climbing', 'take', and 'lower' we do have our own little commands that work for us since we climb together in and out of the gym. We had a staff member tell us that we need to do the "correct" commands, which she and I both found out of line a staff member would tell us how to communicate with each other. After that interaction, the staff were very short with us and kept giving us side eyes and mean glares. I found it very rude that a staff member would have an issue with our commands since they weren't mean or offensive and treated us poorly due to the interaction.

Such a nice gym! A TON of top rope, a good amount of lead, and an OK amount of bouldering (Seattle is the best edgeworks location for bouldering). Staff are really friendly and knowledgeable. They also include a lot of classes and activities with your membership, like yoga and intro to climbing courses.

I decided to choose this place because my friend Paula comes here a few times a week and had all good things to say about it and I agree. So i came here to introduce my son to this type of workout, and he loved it. The facility is clean and open and inviting, when you walk in you immediately see the floor to ceiling wall climbing areas are designated for a specific type of climbing also the staff were friendly and helpful, Tim specifically who I talked to on the phone was able to help me with all my q's.

Started at Edgeworks Tacoma in December 2022 and I love climbing and working out here! Bellevue and Seattle are great too. Just want to drop a special shoutout to Mikayla in Tacoma - an absolute mega rockstar who has made me and so many people feel so welcome and at home time and time again. I am so grateful for her presence at the gym!!!
