People have enough going on in their lives. Chuck, the service specialist, spotted my sister’s chemo the bag and said his wife had one just like it. I thought he might have sympathized but I guess congeniality is what gets people in the door.Long story short, I asked him to explain the code behind my sister’s check engine light. I was relieved when Chuck said it’d only be $600 to replace a computer that had gone bad. At no point did he say this was a fact-finding mission that would waste my money and time.Even picking up the car was a hassle. Chuck was nowhere to be found. The wait until 1pm was baffling since Chuck texted me telling me the car would be ready at 9. The other service guy acted annoyed when I asked why the description of my repair was not precisely what Chuck and I discussed. I even asked if the check engine light came back on again, could I get it checked out without a diagnostic fee. His response was there are numerous reasons a light might come on. Sure enough, two days later and the light is back.I used to romanticize Tacoma, my hometown where my favorite role models were skilled tradesman, but I haven’t lived here in a long time and I guess everyone is jaded now. I’m gonna chalk this up to late stage capitalism and not give it anymore of my emotional energy. If you’re in the low end of the comments looking for where you went wrong after the fact, forgive yourself and guard your peace.

Took my car for an oil change and saw the tech drive it to the front by the waiting room when service was done. Waited another 20 min for my name to be called. It was never called so I went to the counter to ask if was ready. Finally got out of there, but that extra 20-30 minutes of wasted time could've been avoided. The 2 stars is for the additional wait. Service was good and all the staff I spoke with were friendly.

I’ve been a customer at the South Tacoma GILCHRIST Chevrolet for 3yrs now. I usually have pretty good service experience until this last time. I told them I was a waiter for an oil change & tire rotation. It took the Express Service almost 1hr & 45min to accomplish this easy service. They did comp my tire rotation so that did make up for the extra wait I had to endure for a scheduled appointment made a couple weeks in advance.

Terrible service. I called a month ago because the tire pressure indicator light was on and was told to inflate the tires and wait a week or two. I did that and was then told to bring the car in. I made an appointment and went in 2 weeks ago to have the tire pressure sensor replaced and get my oil changed. They said they had the part so I took the car in and over 2 hours later I was told they were shorthanded and there was no one there to put in the sensor. I had to make another appointment which I did. I went in last Friday and was told this time that they had to order the part and that I had to make yet another appointment. To make matters worse, I went in with 1 sensor out and when I left, they were all out. I brought this up and they said that they tried to reset the sensors. I didn't appreciate that response. It seemed insufficient. The part cost $167.00 to replace according to the Gilchrist service department and I think they messed around zapping them over the two visits and ending up breaking the second sensor which I ended up replacing at another auto shop. I was very unhappy with the service at the dealership.

Fast service appointment. But shocked to be charged for each diagnostic $200.00 and not be added to repairs. That quickly adds up. Also 3% charge for credit card payments. Adds up quickly. Makes me the consumer feel like you’re just out for the $$$$.

Took my truck here for warranty work. Service person Susie was great but service supervisor said my warranty was not good and he went to bay for me but could do no better then to cover the work only 10%. Couldn't afford that so had to think of another option to fix my truck. Called another dealership Jet and they went through the same process but they went to bat and got me 40 more percent covered. Letting you know when gilcrest says we went to bat for you means they didn't try.

Fair, honest for a dealership is hard to find these days. These guys are about the customer and not about how much money they can make. Very happy with the staff there.

I went in to look at a truck and a salesperson engaged me to show the truck. This individual asked another sales person if the other folks were still interested and he said no, they walked away from the deal. He then gave me the keys and said the truck is for sale I spent about 15 minutes looking it over and then I confirmed that I would take it. When we walked into the show room, the previous salesperson had been frantically calling the prior customers on the phone and he yelled out, the truck is not for sale. Keep in mind. I have the keys in my hand and I have confirmed my purchase. This is unprofessional on a colossal level. I was on the lot with keys and checkbook in hand, and then the truck was sold underneath me, because the commission was more important than his professionalism. This is the type of interaction that gives car dealers a bad name.

Took my car in for servicing in January as front end was making awful clunking noise. New struts and shocks were installed. On leaving was told (and written on service invoice) that still make’s clunking noise. Was told to drive 400-600 miles and if still making noise let them know. Called left messages with service and never received call back. Why did I spend over $2000. To not have problem solved? Recently elsewhere had new front brakes installed and was advised that the left front strut has a bend and cracked knuckle. After so many years going to Gilchrist with all our cars for servicing I’ve lost my faith!

Our sales lady was Miya and she was nothing less than outstanding we have nothing but great things to say about her. The issue that we had that was so bad that we walked out. The sales manager was so unprofessional in more way than just one that we walked out. I would fire him. We went to another Chevy dealer the same day and bought the same car for cash.

My 2022 Malibu had to go in for two reasons.1. Transmission replacement.2. Recall on heated seatsAppointment was set for both items to be taken care of at the same time.During the whole process communication was lacking to say the very least. After two weeks I was told that my car was ready to be picked up. He read off everything that was completed and it sounded good. So I picked up my ride. Checked to make sure my heated seats were working. And nope not working. When asked about it they told me the forgot to put the part in. At this point I was not going to leave my vehicle any longer with out speaking to the service writer that had been taking care of me. Hoping he would make it right and figure out away that we could streamline the process of getting it installed with out having my vehicle for too long. It’s been 3 weeks and no call back. I will never step foot on their lot again. Not to mention when I picked up my car it was filthy!!!! I wash my car twice a week and take very good care of it. When they pulled it out to give it to me it looked like it had been sitting on a gravel road for two weeks with logging trucks driving past it.

All the repairs seem to be fixed properly at this point. However, the only issue I had with the whole process was getting the salesperson or service representative. Whoever the case may be to respond back to me with information about the progress of my repairs. For example, when the truck was all finished I tried to call to get the total amount due. Left messages for a call back and never received a call back. Had to drive to the dealership to get my information.

Absolutely stellar service. Ricky is such a beam of joy and amazing to work with, he really went the extra mile to make the sale work with ZERO pressure to walk away. My kinda sales!! Miya was also extremely helpful and sweet with all the little extras. And I believe it was Thomas in finance who made the last step so quick and painless we even had a little time to show each other pictures of our dogs! Will absolutely be returning to this establishment for my future purchases. Also- ya just can't beat free oil changes for life!

I had a very easy experience w/ Gilchrist Chevy. Everyone was responsive to to my requests. I feel like they tried to go out of there way to make my purchase go smooth. I would buy from Gilchrist again.
