Normally had my children at st Jo’s but due to changes I had to have my baby here. Labor and delivery was great rooms are nice and big I had some mishaps with people not listening to my birthing plan and telling me my water didn’t break when it was really clear it was broken. Then they played dumb and said I guess your water is broken. Besides that the after care I received was TERRIBLE! Nobody would respond quickly I changed my own bloody sheets and I was bleeding a lot because during birth I hemorrhaged and got an iron transfusion i had to find the sheets in the cabinet myself. I kept telling them I was in pain and started swelling they would only give Tylenol when my actual doctor prescribed stronger. I had stitches to my butt couldn’t walk and still refused to help with pain finally I had to yell for something stronger and finally when it was time to leave the nurse shamed me for the doctor giving me a prescription for stronger pain medication and then made me walk to the car no wheelchair nothing. Terrible terrible terrible experience. Also I was going to breastfeed but due to changes in producing milk and being tired from 24 hours of labor I ask for formula and they acted like it was a problem to give me some every time I asked. The nurses made me feel unimportant and uncomfortable. Also a nurse yelled at me for checking other to describe my son because he is mixed she said I needed to put black and Asian. So much more happened can’t list it all also my iv was hurting and them saying it was fine gave me an ice pack then another nurse came in saying my iv needle broke. Maybe if you are of color go to a different hospital you might get better care. Also I was questioned by the midwife why my son was light and ask “but the dad is black” i don’t know what she was implying but my child is mixed I don’t know what she wanted him to look like. But her saying that comment wasn’t at the hospital it was at my check up.

My husband and I were brought in to the hospital by ambulance on december 18th due to a head on collision. I'd like to say we were taking care of properly. But that really wasn't the case. I was taken back to trauma. Hubby was inTotal shock. Ekg and xray ( to wrong side) & they sent him home! 2 weeks later he can barely move because of chest & breathing. I stayed 3 days and my Gp wondered why I was released. Fractured sternum & feacture in back. So very disappointed with TG. I would appreciate a call and not from just a receptionist!

From the moment I stepped into the receptionist check in area, in a very visible excruciating level of pain, I was treated unnecessary by a receptionist. I couldn't stand, so my aunt had provided me a lobby chair to sit down on while waiting in the line. The receptionist then spoke over the people who were talking to her and snapped at us to not be "scooting around in a chair." I understand they deal with all sorts of disruptive and rude people but I felt it was an unnecessary call out. I was visably wailing in pain, I couldn't stand and there were zero wheelchairs available. The security guards were more helpful and even ran upstairs to get me one.The whole check in experience was rushed and disheartening. Once, I got up at the front of the line, she further lectured us about sitting on the chair before even asking what was wrong.I was in so much pain I could barely speak, she told me to go sit down so my aunt could check me in (my aunt didn't know much details and I couldn't walk.) but I wanted to explain to her the severity of my situation. The entire time a child was screaming and having tantrums and running through the lobby and a dude and his children were playing on a wheelchair and none of them were reprimanded by this lady. It was weird.None of my insurance info was collected and I feel like I'm gonna have to deal with that one later on.I waited 2 hours, which isn't bad compared to normal but had all my information been collected, it could have been faster. If something had been really wrong with me, that could have been bad. Just felt like I wasn't taken serious from the getgo and was treated like another number.Nurses were amazing. However, the doctors didn't keep me long. They did blood tests and a lot of stuff was either low or high, including inflamation which for my disease could mean alot of dangerous things. I have a medical history too. They didn't really explain much or push further like most places would have. They basically wanted to free up a bed and have me contact my specialist doctor. I get they have to do that. There are bed shortages amongst other things. But I felt very unheard. Very brushed off. Do better, Tacoma General.

Was brought in by bulance Nov 12th, 2023. Er staff was amazing. Was admitted.for a broken femur handle at the ball of my hip. Once in my room, the quality of care was barely care. Could not manage my pain and were very uncaring. I was taken in for surgery the following morning. Surgeons and anesthesiologist were great. After surgery the nurse would not give me any information on my surgery. Was sent back up to my room after being wheeled around the hospital for an hr looking for an X-ray dept that was open. Open. Was taken downstairs to the er xray set for after surgery X-rays then taken back to my room. When I asked for pain meds I was told by my nurse I had been given all my meds and could not get anymore. The nurse in recovery let me know prior to being taken upstairs she gave half the dosage and to aske for the remainder when I got to my room. My nurse called me a liar and said no pain meds were available. I asked to see the charge nurse. My nurse returned an hr later and said yes you can get pain meds that she was looking in the wrong place on my chart. Through out the night again I had to fight for pain meds. I saw my surgeons the next morning and explained the issue with pain management and lack of. They placed a new order for meds. That afternoon the hospitalist came in and told me it was time for me to leave. When I tried to explain to him I had had 5 mins of physical therapy. That they had just taken the catheter out and that I had not been out of bed was again told to leave and that if the residence I was visiting didn't have the equipment to accommodate my needs I could go to a hotel. It wasn't his problem. I explained it was just 24 hrs after surgery. He then again said I had to leave visiting from out of state and to be mistreated by the nursing staff and hospitalist was a complete shock to me. I was unable to get myself dressed. The nurse came in with my discharge papers and said go ahead and leave. I explained to her I was unable to walk as i had just had a partial hip replacement and a metal plate installed the length of my femur bone. She finally gave in and a wheelchair assist was ordered. The transfer gentleman was very concerned as he could see I could barely get into the wheelchair and was in excruciating pain. He kept saying you should not be released. It took 30 mins with the transport gentleman standing by to assist for me to finally get into my ride. Crying the entire time in pain trying to figure out how to get into the vehCole. I was not given any after care instructions. When my daughter called the hospital the woman she spoke with raised her voice and said I was given aftercare instructions. We looked over the paperwork I was given and it was generalized surgery instructions, not specific to my surgery. I had a follow up 2 weeks later with the pa to the surgeon and when I told her they threw me out of the hospital 24 hrs after surgery she was upset and told me I should not have been releasedfor at least 2-3 days after surgery. The physical therapy company I was referred to was a joke. No one ever contacted me after reaching out to them 4-5 times Luna physi therapy was the company. 5 weeks after being referred to them I received an email letting me know since no one had picked me up for physical therapy they are now going to take me out of their system. I am 5 weeks post surgery, have not had any physical therapy,no one has reached out from the hospital to check on my care and I was left on my own to figure out my care. Worst hospital I've ever been in. I hope and pay I never have to go to this hospital and tha no one ever has to go through what I've been through. Sincerely, Dee Morales.

Gave birth here in July to my first. It was a fantastic experience all around. The birth rooms were clean and offered everything I’d need and I met a dozen staff members while here, all were friendly and patient and helpful. The anesthesiologist was quick with my epidural with no complications.

My experience was ok. Not great what so ever. I went there after going to urgent care. Urgent care insisted I should go to the ER. I’m sure I’ll owe a ton of money. They weren’t very caring what so ever. My blood pressure was really high. I sat in the waiting room for hours. I was seen after about an hour or two. Doctor couldn’t figure out what was wrong. He ordered blood tests. The girl who poked my arm was okay. She seemed annoyed in general. A lot of mentally unwell people were there. Nurses did not share a lot of compassion. I didn’t get any treatment or any advice other than to see a neurologist for my issue. Feel like I wasted my money and time. I think ERs are way overpriced and sad places. After 5 hours my blood work came back good. I was relieved. But I was even more relieved to get the heck out of that place.

While on vacation I entered those doors through emergency and the diagnosis was a shattered ankle. The Ortopedic team is excellent and across the board the staff I encountered treated me with tenderness and respect, my every need was met with grace and professionalism. Even the parking attendant was a ray of sunshine! Four years later I live in Washington now and if I ever have the need for excellent medical attention I want to be taken to Multicare Tacoma General Hospital.

I had two mastoidectomy surgeries here, and both times I was failed by the staff. a lot of stuff that shouldn't happen, happened. for instance-sent me to the wrong place and almost giving me heart surgery rather than my scheduled ear surgery-bumping my bed into the walls repeatedly not just on one account- staff losing the equipment my (amazing) surgeon needed- waking up in agonizing pain screaming and receiving no medication till my mother had too yell at someone

The Second floor staff and Security staff: One if not the best hospital in the pierce county area! The nursing staff, including the surgeon who removed my wife's severely deteriorated gallbladder, were extremely pleasant, professional and absolutely incredible!! They were attentive and very informative, not to mention patient!! The Security staff was awesome!! They were very interpersonal and very professional, they went above and beyond their duties to assure me an area I could relax stress free from having to lounge in the hospital rooms corridor. During my wife's procedure. I felt secure and confident with the hospital staff (including the security staff) I had enough to worry about at that moment. It relieved me to know they cared!! Especially in today's world. God Bless guys!!!

Admittedly, I have not had to deal with billing or insurance with this hospital so I can't comment on those aspects. I have been a guest here visiting others a handful of times. Parking can be a bit crowded but if you build in a few minutes to your commute you will be fine. It can be a bit maze-like to get to a room currently but the staff is very approachable and awesome. I must give quite a bit of praise to how helpful the staff has been. I had a close relative who has dealt with cancer for multiple years and this hospital has done a superb job taking care of her. Literally saved her life on more than one occasion. Visiting a hospital is never great, visiting Tacoma is usually not great ;) but these guys have been competent, professional, and attentive. I live in Kitsap County and this is the go-to place for trusted medical care. I trust this place.

I can't speak highly enough about the level of care and service I received from the Emergency Room staff, Operating Room personnel, and Weekend Nurses! When I arrived at the ER, I was triaged and seen by a surgeon within 45 minutes, and my pain was relieved. Although I was told that it might take up to 2 hours before I would be transferred to a floor room, I was moved upstairs in just 30 minutes. The next morning, the Surgeon and the Anesthesiologist checked up on me. When I woke up, the OR nurses were there taking care of me, ensuring that I was feeling okay and reassuring me that I wasn't alone. I am finally out of pain, and I can't recommend the surgical team and nurses enough. They were caring and compassionate, and they actually listened to me to ensure that my concerns were heard. While I hope I never have to undergo surgery again, if I do, I know I can trust Tacoma General. There are no mask mandates in place this is September 23, 2023 the Covid epidemic pandemic fake Adamic has pretty much dissipated but yet MultiCare still wants visitors to wear masks in their facilities. I see no justification with this if anything it’s an inconvenience and should’ve not been allowed to pursue after the April 3 shut down of Covid and having to wear a mask. Yet the powers to be still want to make A nuisance for everybody and make them wear a mask. I remember the chickenpox and measles mumps all those childhood diseases and no we were not expected to wear a stupid mask. That would make us the laughingstock of the community. Yet Multicare Surgery insists on patients and visitors wearing masks when there is no hard-core evidence to say in the The problem still exists. I feel this is all political so the Hospital can get paid more money for Covid craziness. There’s no need for it. This is just a brainwashing program devised by the dementia democratic party which intern throws away money like it’s going out of style. If I’m wrong then prove it and say that we will no longer wear masks when is long as they see masks being worn in the hospital I can only conclude that it’s preplanned and coerced by the Democratic Party so the hospital can get more money. What a way to go

They all but killed my friend here. She went to the ER for a minor problem, took hours and hours to deal with the problem and while she was there became a short of oxygen and needed to be put on oxygen. They kept trying to release her and every time they released her something else would happen to her physically. Before she could even get out the door. She couldn't walk and was very dizzy and yet they kept trying to release her. They ended up keeping her overnight and by the next day she couldn't even speak. She became very confused and her hands were shaking. She couldn't speak clearly. She was all alone. Her daughter finally came three days later to assist her and we insisted that they run blood work on her. They found that she was extremely low in sodium. It makes her brain swell and can cause coma and even death. Even the day that her daughter arrived they were trying to release her! Trying to kick her out of the hospital and she was delirious and couldn't use her phone or speak or walk to the bathroom. She fell three times while in their care trying to go to the bathroom because the nurses wouldn't come help her. She almost died in there. If we hadn't insisted they do blood work she very easily could have died. That place is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Take your loved ones elsewhere if you care about them.
