What ever you do don't allow anyone to send you a large amount of money to this credit union if you are a member, because they will consider it fraud or money laundering, no matter if you can prove its from a legitimate source. They will lock your account & you will not be able to get access to your money until they investigate, which will go on & on. Meanwhile you better have some cash set aside to pay your bill's. The funny thing is, they accepted the large sum of money sent to my account & allowed me to use some of it. But they plan on sending the money back to the person who sent it to me, along with my personal money which leaves me out in the cold. Don't deal with this credit union is my strong advice. Do reviews on all of them & then make your decision.

DO NOT USE THIS BANK FOR A MORTGAGE. I bank at the Westgate branch, the manager there is Kate. She is excellent it the bank she represents is awful. They work with a company called Cenlar for mortgages and have the worst working relationship it’s laughable. Neither knows what the others does so you end up getting stuck in the middle. They both promise to sort your situation out then they blame each other when the situation doesn’t get resolved. I’ve never written a complaint before but felt if I could help anyone avoid these idiots I would. Stay away from Sound Credit Union.

I just went to make a deposit at MY Sound Credit Union branch on First Hill in Seattle, but it was gone! Now, I hadn't been into the branch in a while, but I received no notice that the Madison Street branch was going to close! Absolutely nothing from them. There is now no longer a branch anywhere near downtown Seattle. There is no way that I will go all the way over to West Seattle to bank. sound Credit Union just lost a long time customer! Thanks for not notifying me through email or otherwise! BECU here I come!

I had the strangest experience here today and for that reason would never open an account here. I am a BECU member but am able to use Sound ATM with no fees which is closer to my house. I needed to withdraw $200 in $50 increments for graduation gifts. The ATM doesn't have $50 increments as an option so I withdrew 2 $100 bills and then went in to ask if they could please give me 4 $50 bills. You would've thought I was asking them to give me free $ from the way I was treated. I was told that because I am not a member they could only change 1 of my $100 bills and I had to also show them my ID and sign for it like I was some sort of criminal. No BECU branches nearby have cash on site so I asked if they could suggest what I do and they said try another bank. Omg I was so frustrated and wanted to be a Karen about it but remained calm. Decided to go down the street to Umpqua to see if they could help me and they did so gladly. No suspicion and no ID required with a friendly cashier who was equally shocked when I told him of my experience stating "aren't they a BANK?!" Yep exactly. Sound you need to do better than this!

I've been a member of this credit union for probably around 10 years. At first I loved it! Local, good service, good simple app, rewards using credit/ debit card etc.The last few years this place has gone DRASTICALLY downhill. The rewards program was removed. The customer service is awful and they take far too long to acknowledge and service their patrons. There's no personable interaction even though i have been coming in at least monthly for years. They have never called me the few times I asked them to regarding IRA information. And now they've removed drive thru banking with a teller. They call it "live teller banking" via a virtual experience. Last time I checked live means real and in person to me. I don't want to deal with this virtual insanity. I'll be switching banks by the beginning of next year . I just ordered checks recently but I'll take that loss. Good riddance!

In the past year I have had multiple horrible experiences here.#1 I needed to change my name after a divorce. In order to deposit a check that was in my maiden name, which was also my middle name when I was married, they made me go home to get my documents. Even though 3 previous times they said it was no problem since my last name was my middle name. The rudeness and laziness at this location floors me.#2 I changed my address multiple times in the branch and yet still my bank statements are going to the wrong address, and they still want to charge me $2 a month for e-statements.#3 If you have personal and business accounts, then you have to have different logins for each one for statements. If you dont they will charge you. They only keep a year back online so you will have to pay if you want/need to go back. Whereas most banks will let you access 7 years free of charge. Its confusing and cumbersome.#4 Hold times are usually 30-60min for ANY needs on customer service. There is no direct numbers to the branch. So even if the branch is empty and 5 tellers are standing around, your call goes to their main customer service dept with forever hold times.#5 They wanted to put a hold on a cashiers check from an escrow company even though I have a history of double digit checks deposited monthly for years. The staff likes to go out of their way to follow the most minuscule rules that are able to be overridden for common sense.#6 They flagged my debit card, called me, (which was nice) still charged me and turned off my debit card. I went into the branch to get a new one and the whole companies debit machines were down. Still after 3 weeks, I am still charged for the fraudulent charge they called me for that I declined.Overall theme of this bank: Inconvenient and rude, time and time again. Moving to Key Bank and wow their online banking is phenomenal, no fees, they gave me free temp checks and customer service is quick. I would think a credit union would be community and service oriented.

Went to start an account. The teller Krista was rude and wrote me off. Made me wait 20 minutes as the 3 tellers served 6 more people that came behind me. The guy was really nice and wanted to help me but Krista made him go take a break which was weird because I was the only customer left in the building. I wish I could give you guys 0 stars.

DO NOT get a car loan here!!! Their online systems are intentionally tricky so it's hard to set up auto payments and they will report you to the credit agency and destroy your credit immediately. They are not willing to work with customers on anything. I have NEVER had such an awful loan, it's horrible and if I can get out of it -I will immediately! Don't get yourself into this MESS!!! Go somewhere else!

Stay far away from this bank. They will refuse access to your money, never answer their secure messages, customer service will lie to you. All this in a week that I've been a "victim" (i wont say customer this isnt how you treat customers)

I must meet this credit union's criteria of the "unwanted" customer. When I entered the 21st and Pearl branch, I was flatly greeted by a teller with a unfriendly, pained look on her face. I approached her window and asked to change a $50 bill. She asked if I had an account. I said, "No." At the time, I did not know one has to have an account at the branch to change bills. The teller curtly stated that she could not give me change and exchanged looks with someone I assumed was the manager who was standing with a security guard. Noticing that and feeling very uncomfortable, very unwelcomed, I left. I entered Sound Credit Union thinking it might be a good place to transfer an account. I left knowing I will never open an account there.

After a car accident that totaled my jeep, I came into Sound Credit Union looking for a car loan. Without a payout from insurance yet I was unsure of how this process would go. Luckily it was made so easy thanks to Sara who took care of me. Now I'm off to go get my next vehicle. Thank you Sound Credit Union!

Refinanced my Auto loan at this branch. Brandy (The branch manager) was very helpful, super nice and very professional. She did a outstanding job of getting my SUV refinanced in a super short time frame. Great, Sound Credit Union branch, and very helpful banking staff.

They have to lobby shutdown so everyone has to use the drive thru. The lines are sometimes 20+ mins. It's ridiculous!!!!

These people make it as difficult as possible to access my funds. I'm sick of theory lack of empathy and consideration of my needs and requests. I'll move banks as soon a I am able.
