You go to the vet when you need help. It just sucks when you’re met with bad customer service. I’ve noticed over the years that the quality of care here depends on the day you bring in your pet - meaning depending on the staff working at the time, you may have a bad experience. I’ve also noticed many new faces when I take my pups in. I’m guessing a lot of turnover? All this to say, choppy service when I bring my dogs in. I noticed a few (2 to be exact) staff members that went above and beyond in helping me and my pups feel cared for as patients, but other than that, customer service just seems to get worse and worse here. Today I had a tech appointment for my 2 dog’s to get a nail trim. I have an infant at home so my boyfriend couldn’t leave to take my pups to their 530pm appointment until I got home from work to care for our son. I left work around 5pm and was going to be home at around 515pm. It takes about 20mins to get from my house to Soundview. I realized we’d probably be around 7-10 mins late because of potential traffic, so I called the vet office to let them know. The female that took my call said that even if I was 1min past their 5min late rule they wouldn’t take my dogs for the nail trim. Super disappointed. I understand that being late is not good, but 1min past 5mins of being late. Really?Instead of showing grace for even just 2min past their 5min late rule. Mind you, I live across town and we already gave our dogs meds (per SOUNDVIEW’s request) to calm them down which was a waste, and my poor dogs just need their nails trimmed. My little one’s dew claw is curling in and it grows faster than the other nails or the fact that it curves makes it uncomfortable for him. I wasn’t asking for the moon and the stars, just a little grace. And I could just tell the female that took my call was annoyed with me, not knowing my situation and how important this appointment was for me and my pups. I have rescheduled the appointment but when we were looking at dates to fit my work/baby’s schedule, I noticed the tone of the staff member that helped me was annoyed and like she didn’t want to help me find a time that would work best for my schedule. Overall, horrible experience because of this staff members bad attitude. I hope she reads this. If I were you, find a vet that puts customers and dogs needs first. Period.

We brought Scooter in for his annual checkup and shots. The person at the front desk was very friendly, Dr. Johnson’s assistant was very thorough and helped Scooter not to be scared and we were so impressed with Dr, Johnson, not only was she professional but her love for dogs was very evident - she sat on the floor with Scooter making him feel at ease. She was very thorough with her exam and questions and explained everything to us. Definitely very happy with Soundview Veterinary Hospital! Pat and David Reinhart

The staff at Soundview are incredible. The folks up front are very knowledgeable and personable, and they always make a point to give your pet a little extra attention and love when you walk through the door. It’s not easy working up front in the Veterinary industry these days, so this level of care is definitely noteworthy. The techs and assistants are wonderful. I have a traumatized rescue pup who is currently very anxious, and they are so patient and gentle with him to make sure he has the best possible experience. They make a huge effort to think outside the box so they don’t push him past his limits. And I have learned a lot from the techs about at home care.Keeping with the theme, the doctors are amazing. We typically work with Dr. Johnson who is possibly the kindest Veterinarian I have ever met. Animals LOVE her, and it’s clear she wants to do everything she can for her clients. I appreciate that she thinks of all the possible solutions/treatments to solve complex issues. We see Dr. Shiue as well, mainly for our senior cat with advanced kidney issues. She is wildly knowledgeable, and I learn something new from her every time I see her. I appreciate her passion for preventative care, and the amount of time she spends to make sure we fully understand every step we are going through. This was a long review, but I think it’s important to celebrate everyone on this team. They do a truly great job.

Everyone is always super nice and helpful, even if you need something last minute. My dog was recently seen by Dr. Wicklund, and he was great. Don’t know if he is just temporarily at Soundview, but very friendly and great with dogs!

Love Soundview Veterinary in Tacoma. All the girls at the front desk are amazing. Dr. Shiue and Dr. Johnson are loving and caring. This clinic does everything possible to make your pet feel comfortable and explain every treatment fully. They have called me in the late evening to check in to see how my dog was doing and also called in test results. They have gone above and beyond for my girl.

The best vet I've taken my boys to. I've tried others and this is the one that keeps me coming back. Service is awesome and they really love my fur babies. Pictures for reference.

The team at Soundview always gives the best care to my girls. Everyone from the front desk to the doctors are super attentive, informative, friendly and easy to talk to. My Aurora is a shy girl and each time they have to reintroduce themselves to her they do it with skill, love and patience.

Have been taking my fur babies here for 8 years. Moved out of the city for a year, but stayed with this vet, driving back to the city anytime we had a visit. Excellent attitude from staff, very friendly. Always feel treated with respect and kindness.

The best place I’ve found in Tacoma - they helped diagnose a rare condition in my pup and have been supportive the whole way.

They are very caring and mindful of my very anxious pup. They have made her comfortable enough that she actually like going to see the vet!

Not sure if they actually saw my cat, Hobbes. When instructed to wait in my vehicle for a phone call from the vet for a check up visit, they reported back with wrong details including the age Hobbes. I left wondering if they actually saw Hobbes. Hobbes the sweet boy, he is an anxious little guy, his anxiety may come across as anger to the quick and hurried vet. They were great before the pandemic. I imagine it's hard to manage which owner/parent belongs to what pet when separately placed from one another. To sum up my experience, I'm trying to empathetic towards the vet staff but left wondering if they actually gave Hobbes his annual check up. Hopefully things are more organized now.

Extremely thorough and professional and at the same time kind and personal. I got a very lengthy and informed explanation of every health concern for our little schnauzer

I am always treated kindly by the staff, and their prices are more reasonable than the previous animal hospital we used to go to.

Used to visit this clinic last year to take care of my cat and everything was good. Had an appointment recently and felt like I will never schedule again. They will not provide the clear pricelist unless asked for, make sure to look at everything they put in and ask about everything. The procedure of payment is confusing, watch out because I almost got charged for the procedures that I haven't even heard of. Its been a conversation about why there is a charges that I did not wanted to include. As well, recommending so many unnecessary vaccinations and exams that we have never were in need. Everything sounds so nice and smooth until a moment you realize.
