I love this YMCA. The employees there have slowly turned into my good friends over time. I love working out and chatting with them before and after my workout. I particularly want to shout out Tiffany, Rowdy, Milana, Eileen, Amanda, and Bryce for being so inclusive and a joy to talk to

Update!I continue to be harassed by the staff because of my service dog. It’s been four months. I haven’t heard from anyone from management. I had a call with Bethany from corporate- she didn’t follow through on her promises nor did she ever call back. I’ve had Mel, Tiffany, Amanda, and Rowdy berating me. Do not come here if you have any sort of disability or hardship.Discrimination! I was harassed for having a service dog by the front desk. I couldn’t grab her name because she wasn’t wearing a name bag. She was shorter and slimmer with brown hair and a pixie cut. She followed me around instructing me what I could and couldn’t do with my service dog. She claimed her “manager” was making her, but when I asked to speak to that manager, it came out that there wasn’t one around and she was making it up. I advised her to look up policy’s and regulations on service dogs. Instead, she chose to persecute me by making me feel very uncomfortable and attempting to intimidate me. I asked another front desk representative how to file a complaint. They claimed the regional director would be in today and they would call me. No surprise, they didn’t call. After I walked away from the desk for the complaint info several other employees gathered to point at me and gossip/whisper. It was so incredibly unprofessional and embarrassing for the YMCA. This supposedly Christian organization was passing judgment and ridiculing an individual clearly already struggling, hence the service dog. I have no misgivings that this issue will be handled appropriately or with any care. An apology and training will never be enough to come back from an unlawful and unacceptable experience. A complaint will be filed with the State, followed by an investigation.

This is one of my favorite locations. The facility is smaller but nice, and the customer service is always exceptional!!!

Pre covid I came here faithfully. But now not so much. 1. They took away the Spirit, Mind & Body room and turned it into a media room. So no more Yin Yoga. Now for Yin Yoga I have to drive out to Lakewood which is far and out of the way for me. Tacoma Center Y is an “adult” center and is ideal for all types of yoga especially Yin. Lakewood is not ideal at all whatsoever it is very loud and disruptive.2. They took away the cable machine, squat rack and the free weights from upstairs. I loved it upstairs because could do full body workouts and feel comfortable. They made the room into an awkward stretching room that hardly get used now.It would be amazing if Tacoma Center Y brought back Yin Yoga and put the weights back upstairs.

Terrible. The city of tacoma is dying due to privilege white gentrification. The 2coma53 center ymca is boring, empty, lame. Also I seen them kick a homeless man out of the lobby and he was one the few decent homeless folk. They use to allow respectful ho.eless folks in to the lobby to rest and get out of the elements.

One of the best gyms around in the area with most facilities and no crowds.
