So judging by the previous reviews I am not the only one. Martha is one of the rudest people I have ever came in contact with. I believe she was the lady on the phone today. Before I could even ask my question she interrupted me and said they were open until 3pm. I said that's not what I was calling for. She goes okay well I'm helping like 3 people right now we are really busy. Well why did you answer the phone then? People already feel bad enough needing help so why would you make us feel even worse by being rude? Treat people with respect regardless their social status.

I have told them that my issues regarding not having child care for my children due to their diagnosis’s and they really do not seem to care at all. All she asked me was for me to just get to the point. Super aggressive and super rude. Horrible that this is suppose to be a place of refugee and acceptance of bad times for people and being meet with aggression when already dealing with depression due to my current life situation is extremely distasteful. I hope no one ever experiences the same problems I just had with Mary and Margaret. Shame on both of you!

I've literally never been treated so badly before in my life. The lady who works at the front was so so rude to every person who went before me I was already so nervous then when I went up she didn't even give me time to explain my situation she just immediately turned me away with the rudest tone. Parents already feel bad having to ask for help and coming to a place like this and being treated like this was wrong

Martha, the director is the rudest person I ever met in USA since I moved here. Aggressive and mean person. It really feels she hates people , otherwise there is no explanation with her attitude with the clients.I have no idea why she is treating people with such a disrespect knowing that she receives grants for the most vulnerable categories.I hope someone will take her place very soon so she won’t offend people she serves. What a shame!

I've only had one other interaction with Toy Rescue Mission before, to donate toys. Even then it was an arduous process but I get it they are a volunteer organization. However what I just experienced was unacceptable.I'd made a quick comment on their FB that I'd been at the school supply drive but left bc my kids are really small and standing for several hours on the side of busy street just wasn't working out. I didn't expect anything from the comment. In fact, I complimented them on what looked like a successful event. Well someone messaged and told me to call later that week. I did and ended up making an appointment to get supplies. When I arrived I had all of the qualifying documents and cards I was instructed to bring.I know the person's name and position I interacted with when I arrived but I don't feel it's necessary to put it out there. The unfortunate thing, is if this person behaved like this then I have to assume it's indicative of the whole organization because of her position.Anyway, I came in and waited patiently and when she came to the front I explained I'd made an appointment. It was like she wasn't listening to a word I said. She immediately was aggressive. Telling me she didn't have a message from me, even though I'd just said I'd made the appointment over the phone. Then she starts overtalking me and lecturing me about following proper procedure and how she doesn't normally give out supplies twice.I tried to explain that I was just following the instructions I was given but she was so aggressive and nasty. At one point I just held my hand up and said, "Ma'am, I didn't ask for this appointment I didn't ask for special treatment and it's ok; I can get supplies from somewhere else."So then she calmed down a little but even then she couldn't just ask if I had the proper qualifying information. She said, " next time you need to come with..." I actually had the items she mentioned but that wasn't what I was told to have. I would have gladly showed them to her and tried. After chastising me for not having them, she said she didn't need them! After being talked down to and demeaned come to find out she didn't have the supplies for my kids' grade levels. That was fine but it's just ironic that she went through this whole thing of basically talking to me like an insolent child, all in the name of protecting her supplies, and she didn't even have them. The whole situation was so unnecessary.A nice lady gave me a flyer to another event.Honestly, I'm sure they do really good work and help a lot of people but I hold my head up and behave with decorum regardless of my circumstances. I don't think I'm required to be talked down to just to receive help and that's the attitude I felt I received... Like she felt that since she's providing a free service she can be disrespectful. It's really unfortunate because I'm sure she receives donations and grant money to provide that aid so why be barrier?

This place is absolutely amazing! If it wouldn't have been for this toy rescue mission my daughter wouldn't have had a Christmas. I called them and within an hour they had me in the office. And I left with a black garbage bag filled to the top of goodies for my little princess. The staff is very friendly and non-judgmental. I would recommend this place to any parent or guardian that needs help with supplying their child a wonderful Christmas
