their service dept is the worst ever

As of the fall of 2019, this business is closed. I am referring to the Nissan side. The first five years, I had decent service on a 2012 Rogue I had bought from Frederick Nissan. Then, the service took a nosedive. They would not honor an extended warranty I had purchased at Frederick MD Nissan the day we bought the vehicle. My AC Compressor went out at 51k. This dealership said slow compensation from this warranty company led them to not accept it. I mentioned I had all of my service done here for five years, in addition to buying a brand new $36k 2017 Rogue there, three months earlier. No dice. Took the Rogue to Harry Green in Clarksburg with no issues, and they said they had never had an issue collecting payment from this company. Then, despite this experience, I called to schedule the 2017 in for an oil change/tire rotation. The service advisor confirmed $20 (same as previous trips with the 2012) for the tire rotation. I didn't ask the oil change cost. My wife took the car in, was up charged $69.95 for "Tire Rotation and balance". I returned to the dealership the next day and the advisor said he was new and acknowledged he made a mistake. Advised I needed to talk to Tom, the service manager who was not there. Called him, and he apologized and offered to comp me my next oil change. Fine. Then, the Nissan sign comes down and they are out of business. I call the number, same receptionist. Leave a message on accounting. No response. Dispute charge on credit card. They respond, denying problem. Credit card denies dispute. Call again, leave Ms. Buzzo a message. No response, again. I am keeping an ear out for ownership of the new dealers there (Chrysler Jeep and Subaru) and intend to not do business there if it is the same ownership.

Always honest about anything going on with my car and the prices. Couldn't ask for better customer service. I like that the waiting room is dog friendly

The service dept is very slow. I had dropped off my car to have a check engine light taken care of and it took a week to get it fixed. If I had a scan tool, I'd have saved a hundred bucks. My part was only $20. I also had a noise they said couldn't be replicated. The funny part is, before I pulled out of the lot it did it.

My Dad bought his Subaru at John Howard after not getting the deal he wanted elsewhere. Went back today for the first service on the vehicle and the staff was very friendly, courteous and kept us informed about the status of our service. He also received a free car wash for his birthday and they detailed the car. Great customer service!!

Wow.. they removed my review.. also think it is funny they have all their employees and their families writing positive reviews about them to keep their ratings up. This dealership is a joke. Their service department is the worst in the tri-state area. I was told by the sexist, condescending service manager that I was incompetent and didn't know a thing about vehicles because I was a female. I did know that I was better than to be treated like this and took my business up the interstate to Jenkins. I was told by someone that previously worked in the service department at John Howard that they manipulated vehicles so warranties did not cover repairs and customers had to pay out of pocket and be lied to and sit and wait for HOURS on simple things like oil changes. Hope they delete this review too.. it's being screen shot and will be posted time and time again. Avoid this dealership at all costs if you own a Subaru!

John Howard is by far the best dealership in north central Wv! The sales staff is friendly and were great to deal with. The service department has been nothing short of perfect and I've even met some of the office staff while I was waiting during my service appointments! They were all so friendly! I highly recommend this dealership!

Free coffee in sales and service was what hooked me. I have purchased 6 vehicles from John Howard Motors. The staff is wonderful. My parents have bought 2 cars there. I recommend the dealership for sales and service. The dealership is comfortable and clean.

We love our Titan truck. The sales staff was very helpful in finding the truck we wanted. The service is great. Everyone is helpful. Highly recommend buying a vehicle from them.

I can't speak much on John Howard Subaru as a whole, but my experience with one of your sales agents was extremely pleasant. Enough to merit a review, at least. Tyler Bramble was excellent throughout our exchange, and has kept in contact ever since. I couldn't buy a car at this second, but he makes me want to buy in the future. And a salesman who views a customer as a future sale rather than a current failure is fine by me.

I had a prescheduled oil change appointment today, no issues. The maintenance department also corrected a recall that I was unaware of. ~Dealing at John Howard is easy and they provide a comfortable environment~ :)

I was told when I purchased a 2015 Subaru crostrek that I would have four free oil changes when I presented this card (See photo below). Nowhere on the card is a time restriction. However, after using it only two times, they told me that I could no longer use the card because two years had passed. I feel like I have been missed lead i went out of my way to go to this dealership so I could get a free oil change. I told the service technician that I had this card before service was done and he said just present it at check out. When I did present it they gave me a “present”......a bill for the oil change :-(
