The Sauk County Humane Society is a caring and dedicated animal shelter that provides a safe haven for animals in need. The staff are highly appreciated for their kindness and genuine concern for the well-being of the animals. They take extra care to ensure animals are healthy before adoption and remember details about adopters’ preferences, such as wanting a play buddy for their pet. The shelter offers a variety of animals, including cats and dogs, many of which are described as sweet, gentle, and charming. Visitors often find the shelter to be a short drive from Madison, making it convenient to browse and adopt.
The shelter also offers affordable veterinary services, such as neutering, with staff explaining everything clearly and making the process smooth. They are known for caring for animals regardless of their condition, and they often take in animals from severe abuse situations, demonstrating their commitment to animal welfare. The staff is considerate and accommodating, even when animals are dropped off unexpectedly or found after storms, such as a baby bird or a stray dog.
Overall, the Sauk County Humane Society is highly recommended for its compassionate staff, commitment to animals, and willingness to go above and beyond to help animals in need.
Went here a few days ago with my overnight camp group and we saw a lot of cute animals. And also the workers here are so nice! And also thank you to Mary & Bob for giving us a little tour of the animals. Love to come here again. ❤

We adopted a bonded pair of cats. SCHS staff were friendly and accommodating throughout the entire process. SCHS arranged for the dental work that was needed for both cats. It allowed the cats to recover in their new home and made for a smooth transition overall. We love our girls so much already!
