“My kids and I always have a good time here. Even the adults can have a little fun. Super cheap and fair pricing as well compared to other places we have been too especially for the amount of games, toys, and equipment they have. We really love the “free play” arcade games they have as well. Lots of old ones that I played as a kid.
As far as stuff not being safe like someone mentioned I have gone on all of the equipment and felt safe..
Its a little dirty in some places but so is the playground.. n”
“My daughter has been attending TLG for a little over a year and has met her goal of learning how to do a cartwheel. TLG has also helped her reach my goals for her, of increasing her strength, improving her confidence, and burning extra energy. The teachers are always engaged and supportive of building the children's skills, meeting them where they are at.”
“We had our Wedding at Barnwood Events and have nothing but good things to say about the venue and the staff! Everyone was so nice to work with and super helpful. We had Ellie as our day of event coordinator and she was the best. She helped run the show so that we did not have to worry about any of the details. The bartenders were great and quick with service. They also make excellent old fashioneds, we highly recommend! The owners, Julie and Dave, are so nice and very involved with the whole process from the planning to the execution and clean up. We highly recommend having your next event or wedding at Barnwood Events! Special thanks to the Wild Collective by Alaxandra for the great photos!”
“We worked with Kade to purchase our playset - he was knowledgeable, quick to respond to email or text questions, and patient with our numerous questions and changes! Thanks, Kade!”
“I hosted a retreat recently at Local Motive, and it was absolutely perfect.
The space itself is beautiful and comfortable (which is weirdly hard to find) plus it's full of character and history. It really makes the space feel special.
But what truly made the experience stand out was Prasanna. He was an incredible host & throughout the entire process...kind, responsive, flexible, and genuinely invested in helping make the retreat a success.
Every detail was handled with care, and Prasanna went above and beyond to make sure everything flowed smoothly. My group kept commenting on how welcoming and inspiring the space felt. It set the perfect tone for connection, creativity, and reflection.
If you’re looking for a Madison event space with great energy and an owner who truly cares, I can’t recommend Local Motive (and Prasanna!) enough.”

“Drove here from Chicago for the stage play The Kernel of Truth, who h was awesome and very insightful as well as entertaining. The play was hosted by Black men's Coalition of Dane county. The theater was historically beautiful, made you feel like you were in the early 1900s or something, roomy and comfortable seats. Drinks could be better for the price though but other than that, great theater and there's a lot to do around the theater, if you want to get a bite to eat afterwards!”
“The architecture is impressive and the several auditoriums can accommodate plays, bands, and very large meetings that have a need to present many speakers in a report or lecture format.”

“The Tinsmith is a gorgeous, wholly unique venue that provides a stunning back drop for weddings! (Or any event I imagine) I was in a wedding there recently and felt that the photos online were amazing but the venue in person was even better! A bonus was that they had a delicious mocktail on their drink menu and as several of us are NA folks we were stoked about seeing that (still not easy to find out there although it is getting easier). The bartenders Peter/Pedro and Noah were super friendly and we enjoyed chatting with them, and getting to know Peter. The only reason I give my review 4 stars instead of 5 was that the air conditioning did not cover the whole venue. The space where the ceremony was held on an 80 plus degree day was stifling, it was sooo hot. It’s one thing for a room to heat up because of so many bodies despite AC but this was like an oven so it wasn’t an issue of just bodies. It led to concerns about the health/safety of one of the groomsmen and even a couple guests who felt faint. I don’t know if it was a one-day maintenance issue but I do hope they get it resolved so more people can enjoy the beauty of the space while not having to worry about anyone passing out due to the heat. Thankfully everyone got through it ok and we had a great time, and most of all the bride and groom had the wedding of their dreams! Thank you for having such a beautiful local venue!! Truly a gem of Madison ?”
“We got to visit Frostwood for one of their monthly dinners that we learned about during an event at Young Blood Beer Co. because they were excited to be partnering on a tropical themed beer pairing dinner. Everything was absolutely delicious, and it was a lot fun to hear the chefs and brewer talk about each course and how they approached the pairing. It was better than lots of beer dinners we’ve been to because they seemed to closely partner on the menu and have a good time with it.
They were also very conscious of and accommodating for allergies - when we checked in, they went over the menu modifications made for my allergies and confirmed when bringing out any modified plates what the adjustment was without making me feel bad about it (yes, that sounds like should be normal but if you have dietary restrictions, you probably know what I mean).
Will absolutely be keeping an eye out for future dinners because we definitely want to try more of their food. Glad the Young Blood crew introduced us to Frostwood! Beautiful space, nice people, awesome work with the community, and amazing food!”

“the staff was helpful, and i enjoyed the candlelight concert, but i can see why someone else might think it’s not worth the money. still, it was a good experience”
“I attend Blackhawk Church, and we use the Upper House for our downtown location. We were formerly using the Magestic Theater. A little trivia: The space the Upper House occupies use to be a Food Court.”

“Love coming to my favorite hotel in the Midwest. Everything in the room works, and the electrical outlets are strategically placed where you need them. The room is well-cleaned, and when you check-in, you'll meet one of the welcoming staff, including: Fabian, Kiley, or Maddie. I get sad when I leave, cause I know any other place might be a downgrade”
“Beautiful venue! We had our wedding ceremony here sight unseen but were very happy with the space. There is no smell, it is climate-controlled, we were able to comfortably fit 85 seated guests with room for about 10 more, and it requires no to minimal decor. We did not need a microphone and everyone could hear us from the altar, even those up in the balcony.”
“We were stuck in the snowstorm last weekend traveling home from Thanksgiving. We pulled over here as we couldn't drive any further and they couldn't have been any more wonderful. The gentleman working the front desk was so helpful and even tried to help me find my phone when I lost it in the snow. The hotel was lovely, clean, comfortable, and they had the best customer service! Thank you so much for helping my family on a really difficult weekend!”
“Great organization and brings accessibility to outdoor education involvement in the region! Lots of events year-round! Always something for everyone and any age to learn about their environment.”
“We had the most amazing experience at the Elks Lodge for our wedding reception! Even though I’m not a member, my husband and I chose the Silver package, and with our guest list, we easily met the minimum just with food. The location couldn’t have been more perfect—it truly captured that “Madison” vibe.
We went with the buffet option of burgers and brats, which was fun, delicious and very Wisconsin. Everyone loved it! Kaycie Strobl, the banquet manager, was an absolute dream to work with—kind, attentive, and incredibly generous with her time and effort to make our day perfect.
Our reception was beautiful from start to finish. Every guest I’ve talked to has had nothing but wonderful things to say, and it was truly everything I had ever dreamed of. If you’re considering the Elks Lodge for your wedding, do it—you won’t regret it!”
“I’ve been getting my hair done here since I was eight years old by Vernee and she has never failed me. I’m 35 years old and my now me and my daughter get our hair done there.”

“Beautiful Historic Hotel with nice rooms. Very pleasant staff and a big Thank You to Judy. She went out of her way to make sure my friends and I have everything we needed...even some tools to work on a motorcycle. Breakfast was delicious and our server was excellent. They truly deserve more than 5 stars. Can't wait to come back in the fall.”

“Organization based on a community and a building.Classes / shows, are not run by the organization. 24 hour access for members. Circusing toward a sustainable future, environmentally and socially.”
“We hosted our wedding at the Bur Oak in September of 2024. The bartenders did an amazing job fueling our party and the coordination staff was a pleasure to work with. The space was perfect for our 110 person wedding and didn't require a lot of decoration as it has an inherently cool aesthetic.”
“I was actually here as part of a performance, so I saw more of the back end support. Part of the place that most people probably do. Was a really interesting place to perform, and the patron area has a sort of classic feel to it. Definitely not the sort of thing that you see being built new nowadays.”
“Great one stop shop for conference and lodging at UW Madison Campus.
Parking was convenient.
Food and service were top notch.
Close to State St.”
“The best place ever my home and happy place. I love the coaches and they make gymnastics so fun! They offer gymnastics, volleyball, and other sports you can play on a volleyball court. Love this place 100% would recommend.”
“I went down to get a meal at the bar during my stay, and Zoey was incredible. She was super friendly and accommodating. Excellent customer service! The hotel overall was great.”
“Saw Patton Oswalt here once. He was good then and he was good at the Comedy Club not too long ago.
This place is sick. Good Music and service.
They say it's haunted... I think I saw an orb once. In my experience, if you see it once, you see it a lot.
I do not.”
“I’ve been seeing shows at liquid for years and it never fails to be an amazing night out, from smaller shows showcasing local djs to huge sold out shows with insane headliners, definitely stop by for a show!!!”
“The food is so delicious, and you get to eat and drink with a lovely view of downtown! It's a great place to bring out of towners, coworkers, or friends and family.”
“Here for multiple dog shows for a week. This is a great venue for shows. Plenty of parking and entrances. Lacking handicap spots for exhibitors. RV spaces with full hookups. Restrooms are maintained. Parking was $10 for each day of entry. Credit/Debit cards only. No cash!!”
“This hotel was perfect for my business travel! I had a wonderful room with a great check-in experience. There are social events in the lobby a couple of time a week, and the daily shuttles to a local corporate campus were so convenient. The location of this hotel was great, within walking distance to some fast food, pubs, and an amazing distillery called Yahara Bay.
As I was checking out, however, the lady at the front desk on that Saturday morning gave me an attitude when I asked about getting a receipt printed for my stay.
Overall, this was an excellent hotel, and I will stay again if I’m ever in the Madison area.”
