FIRE ALETA (or make her take classes on how to treat other people)
I visited this JCPenney on June 7, 2025, with my mom and had a terrible experience with an employee named Aleta. She was rude, dismissive, and unprofessional from start to finish.
When a coupon didn’t apply, my mom pointed it out politely. Aleta immediately blamed her, insisting she’d scanned it correctly. Even when I showed her the receipt, she still denied the mistake. It wasn’t until my mom pointed it out on the screen that Aleta finally saw it, but she still refused to take responsibility. I even tried to ease the tension by saying maybe it was the system’s fault, but Aleta cut me off to say it wasn’t the system or her. It was somehow our fault?!
She snatched the receipt and coupon from our hands multiple times, tried to send me downstairs for a return because the manager was “too slow,” and lied to the manager when she arrived. At the end I did confront her and told her to stop snatching paper from my hands or my mom's. As I walked away, Aleta started talking about me to other staff.
The worst part was how she treated my mom, who doesn’t speak English well. She was overwhelmed, talked down to, and blamed for everything. If I hadn’t been there, I feel like she would have treated my mother so much worse.
JCPenney needs to take this seriously. No one, especially someone vulnerable, should be treated this way.

I have called the store seven times and I have received no operator every time I do receive somebody on the phone call either they transfer me or they just hang up

Very frustrated with the long checkout lines. Management/employees seem to have no awareness of the 8+ customers waiting over 30 minutes while they chitchat.

Typical JCPenney store, but the customer service was amazing from THREE different employees when I went today… Thank you to them!
I came back for jewelry, I’ve been looking for weeks. There is a specific woman here, I didn’t catch her name, that’s helped me twice. I wish I wasn’t so picky, but she makes the experience so much more comfortable than any other place I’ve been. I think I’ll come back until I find something I like, I hope they get commission and if not I hope she gets some recognition!

Looking for button up short sleeve wrinkle free shirts. Zander was kind enough to explain what to look for on the labeling to differentiate short sleeve.

Clerks are great! Bu when there are broken eggs in the elevator with a maintenance sign up, there’s a big problem. With the time it took to retrieve the sign, the mess could have been cleaned up. Very gross and irresponsible. Going someplace else…

The associate that helped me was AMAZING. Unfortunately one of the jeans I purchased still had a security tag left on it after I got home so I had to drive 20 minutes to come back the next day (so 40 minutes of extra driving for a simple thing). We had even talked about the security tags at check out and she confirmed they had been taken off. I spoke with her when I got back to get this removed and she confirmed that we had spoken about it and profusely apologized and wanted to make it right, calling a manager over right away. She was truly trying to do the right thing. The manager that came over sighed and rolled her eyes about the whole thing and did not speak a word to me until she went to get a gift card and I told her I lived too far away to come back and use a gift card. She seemed annoyed and told me a $5 gift card was all she could do for me. For the significant amount of driving I had to do a $10 refund to my CC used (on an almost $300 purchase...) seems sufficient. But I was not getting the inclination that this manager wanted to discuss further. I would recommend going to a different store location just in case you have any issues you need resolved.

JCPenney still has not opened their fitting rooms. Upper level only has men’s fitting room open. Ridiculous
