First. tried to buy a vehicle online. The vehicle has been previously reserved for me. I am already logged in to my account, click to buy the car, despite being logged in to my account with previous multifactor text sent to my phone to verify my idenity not twenty seconds prior, carmax online tells me that I need to verify with another code to my email in order to start the purchase. I waited over an hour for this second code to be sent, in that time someone else orders the car and has it sent to Colorado. I call and plead my case to find out there is nothing anyone can do, I guess I should say nothing anyone " will do". ( You stink Carmax, that first vehicle should have been re-routed to me, on my end it also said it was still resevered. which I re-reserved it after driving it.). One month later, I finally find a sort of similar vehicle and car max cancels the transfer on me from Kenosha. ( " car needs some work", someone says after I inquire, but only after I inquire, no one reached out to me just a cancel notification?). . The Kenosha car becomes avaible again, I order it, it arrives in Madison I drive it, and hear a rumbling noise coming from the front which is clearly the suspension! Then I notice a brand new head light and different color front corner panels. No one can give me any explanations, despite my earnest pleas. I was even promised someone would let me know what the truth was. TO date that vehicle is still waiting on parts to fix the suspension. Two weeks after that, yesterday I find a car in Chicago, pay the shipping fee. No one can help expedite the vehcile despite all Carmax screw ups. 5 days. I give up

Where do I even begin... I recently purchased a 2017 C43 from CarMax. While the car itself is enjoyable, my experience with CarMax has left much to be desired, leading me to share these insights for potential customers.Pros:The car's quality is up to expectations.Cons:Lack of Transparency: Post-purchase, I found unmentioned modifications on the car, including drilled holes in the bumper. This was neither disclosed nor apparent during the buying process.Customer Service Issues: CarMax refused to remove their sticker from the car, which I believe should be a basic courtesy offered to customers.Process Inefficiencies: Due to an error in the application process, I had to technically return and then re-purchase the vehicle, adding unnecessary complication and stress to the experience.Delayed and Miscommunicated Shipping: The estimated delivery of the car was delayed, and I was not properly informed about the new timeline. Additionally, I was initially told that the $99 shipping fee would be refunded, but this did not happen.Inconvenience and Lack of Accountability: The overall process was inconvenient, and there seemed to be a lack of accountability for the issues that occurred.In conclusion, my experience with CarMax was marred by a series of service and communication failures. While I am satisfied with the car itself, the purchasing process was far from the quality I expected from a reputable company like CarMax. I hope this feedback leads to improved practices and better customer experiences in the future.

Travis Gould made my experience so, so, so wonderful. I originally had plans to just trade in my car that day and slowly take my time to purchase my next vehicle (Tesla) and because of how wonderful Travis was, right as soon as we finished signing the paperwork for trading in my vehicle, I made sure that he was the one to help me purchase my next. I can’t wait for my Tesla to be delivered in the next week and knowing Travis played a role in that I’ll always be so appreciative!

I came in tonight to have my car appraised after receiving an online quote for purchase. I worked with Liam and the entire process was so smooth! I was extremely impressed with his knowledge, efficiency & courtesy. The in-person offer also matched the online offer - I was so pleased! Car dealers usually get a bad rap but this was a very pleasant experience. I highly recommend CarMax & definitely ask for Liam!

Trading in one of our cars was a little complex due to my spouse being the only one on a new lien but the trade-in's title only having my name on it. We decided to use Carmax to sell the trade in instead. They valued the trade-in higher than 2 dealerships where the new car was purchased so that was a good start. The process was easy starting with the online estimate through getting the check. The staff was courteous and professional. We visited later in the day so there weren't very many people around with made things go quickly. The online estimate is what we received.

I had a great experience with CarMax. I would highly recommend them. They went as far as putting new plates on the new truck, as well as registering my truck... all @ 8:00 pm on a Friday night! That's what I call customer service!

Easy process dealing with CarMax in getting our new vehicle. Knock down a star though due to an unpleasant interaction that almost led us to leave CarMax. When booking an appointment, note that it doesn't mean much if there were walk-ins that came in before you. Annoyed that we waited a half hour from our appointment time, my husband approached the reception. The employee at reception (Richard) matched his annoyance escalating the situation instead of trying to defuse it be at least apologizing. Luckily someone became available at that moment (Dave) who was very helpful and we did end up buying our vehicle. Everyone else that we came in contact with at CarMax (Jordan, Luke) were extremely helpful, friendly and professional. It's a shame that one employee almost caused us to walk out and we wouldn't have purchased our car there.

I bought a 2012 Volvo from them and then returned it. The staff at this location were helpful, and the car was transferred from another location, but the car had serious issues that should have been detected by CarMax during their inspection process. I took it to an independent mechanic and they gave it a very bad bill of health. Transmission fluid low and dirty. Brake pads worn down to 3mm in the back and 1mm in front. Filters dirty. Belts cracking. Axel boot seeping oil. They allowed me to return the car without issue (I was within 30 days of purchase) but they really shouldn't have sold me a car in this condition.

A new car in one week! We had a great experience purchasing our new SUV from CarMax. The website is easy to use and sort through all of the inventory options, then the staff was easy to work with and helped us bring our car to our local dealer and finish the transaction only 5 days from beginning to end. I will definitely buy again from CarMax.
