I scheduled a phone meeting through their website to discuss a new construction loan/ land loan. Julie called me 15 minutes later than the scheduled time, I had to leave work to make this call which costed me extra time off the clock. She had no information ready for me- no interest rate info, no info on how the payments and time line work from start to finish, stated there were no programs I could use as a first time buyer, basically just said fill out an application. I felt she lacked professionalism for dealing with peoples futures and large financial decisions. She seemed to not want to update my application after information had changed that would have made a large change to my app.I am now working with a lender who is getting me the loan I needed, with programs, lower interest and lower down payment.I will be closing my United One account after over 10 years of being a customer. Terrible experience and made me feel worthless.

Online said they were open so I drove an hour to get there. They closed early that day for a party but didn't update their online hours or website. I had a large amount of money to deposit. I will bring it to a different bank now.

I have banked with them for 8 years and they wouldn’t let me open a checking account because of my credit. I don’t know a single other bank with this policy.

If you are trying to close your account over the phone do not let them tell you it is not an option. They will tell you this in hopes that they can get some fees out of you. And then when you try to fight the fees. They will then not stand behind them telling you that you can’t close your account over the phone and change the story to all you would have had to do was a docusign. Which they don’t offer when calling in. And then they will finally close your account without you there like you wanted in the first place but charge you another fee.If you are looking for an actual credit union this isn’t the place for you. They charge the crazy fees just like a bank and really do not care about the people that bank with them.Would not recommend this place to anyone.

Their staff have no customer service skills and are disrespectful and mean to customers. Covid has been rough on a lot of people and they don’t care and treat you like a complete A*** if your even 5 days late with a payment. Can’t wait to have my vehicle paid off so I no longer have to use them anymore! Would give zero stars if I could! Would not recommend to even my worst enemy!!!!!

My husband and I moved to Manitowoc from Oregon back in August 2020. We started house hunting and went to United One to see if we could get pre approved for a home loan. I filled out the application on the website and the next morning Julie from United One Credit Union reached out to me. Julie is wonderful! Julie communicated very well with my husband and I. Our purchase here was a bit complicated because of our home we had pending for sale in Oregon. The process of the sale of our home in Oregon was slow to due our appraisal taking several weeks, and our buyers lender being slow to get us our funds. Which lead to our closing date being extended a few times in Oregon which made our home in Manitowoc have to be extended as well. Julie was ALWAYS on top of the documents we needed to keep everything up to date and current. Julie is a great team player. She worked well with our realtor and the title company. Julie deserves to be recognized! Thank You Julie for all your hard work you put into get us our Home loan and getting us into our home that we LOVE!

I had a United One Credit Union account long ago and it was your pretty typical credit union in regards to savings and checking. If you have DD for your checking then you avoid the fee, non-existent contribution for savings, etc.My one star review is in reference to the handling of an unusual situation and the follow up (or lack their of).I'll cut to the chase. Unbeknownst to me the state's IRS had put a lean against my accounts and not only did NOT reach out to me to notify me of what was happening (my taxes are straight forward and was done by Turbo but that's another story) but immediately emptied both my checking and savings accounts. United One did not seem to think this was of any issue and they too, did not notify me of this drastic change. You can imagine how surprising this was to me when I attempted to pay for a few gallons of gasoline. I find it very odd that the account is monitored when I would buy something outside of the general city limits but the moment the IRS completely empties both accounts then the monitoring is suddenly non-existent.Further yet was the egregious amount of over-draft fees they attached to my accounts after they had been emptied out! How ridiculous! To add salt to the wound afterwards, when I followed up with United One after clearing the issue with the IRS they would NOT work with me on the over-draft fees whatsoever that they deemed appropriate to attach during this whole fiasco. Something to note was that my account was rarely if ever over-drafted, so this was not a reoccurring issue that could be argued for the fees to stay.I immediately closed my accounts and moved to a far better credit union. Since then they've moved my accounts to collections where I worked with the debt collector to pay only 30% of the ridiculous overdraft fees they deemed to be my debt. (A small dent in a overall 720 credit score)I would STRONGLY suggest that if you're looking to do any business with United One Credit Union that you do so as a very last resort. There are a multitude of credit unions that have far better service and loan rates in addition to the vast majority of online banks (Ally is a great option!).1/5 stars is a more than fair assessment on this shack perpetrating as a financial institution.10/22 EDIT: Saw that a response was given to my review only to find out it’s a generic auto response. Not sure what if any resolution can be offered, especially considering someone who no longer has an account with your institution, and after paying off the debt that was sent to collections.

Mortgage Department: This is similar to a non-entity. Do you really have a mortgage department at the 10th Street branch? Ahhh I get it. This is for a refi -is that the avoidance? I have the original mortgage with you. Why would you want to refi at the present rate so I can get a lower rate? First I am inclined to move to another branch, then I was inclined to go to a bank which will give me a refi. (I have had experiences with banks in the past and am not in favor of their banking policies) However, after my unsataisfactory or no conctact with United One mortgage department, this bank is giving me attention, respect, and promise of asistance/help. I fear technology has had a more than a normal effect in your departmemt and your rep. - the contact only via others in the bank, the no phone calls, the no contacts. I have been attemptimg to contact someone in this department 3 - 4 occasions. I never hear back from the rep. whose name I was given. Yes, I missed two appointments. It is no wonder when I am told a person's name to see, never met that person, never heard from that person, no calls, no follow ups. It is almost like a phantom.
