“We just transferred our insurance to Rural Mutual, after 50 years with another company. We were told by our agent that we would need to pay a $65 annual member fee. When we went online to pay for this fee it showed payment amount due as $70. We called Customer Service and were told that the member fee was $65 but they also add a $5.00 donation on the amount that is due. We were told we could edit this amount to $65, which we did. We feel that this is deceptive. If the company is looking at donations beyond the member fee it should be noted as such on the online payment site. This is definitely a red flag for us. We never had this kind of deception with State Farm. I would ask that Rural Mutual be more honest and upfront on the added $5.00 donation fee on their online payment site, and list it as such.”
