I rented a car in Boston and it took over an hour and a half just to get my car. Then, Dollar never paid the whole toll fee so I received a letter from a collection agency saying I was past due. It's a good thing I caught it in time before it affected my credit!

Friday night I waited 2 hours in line for a "reserved car". I purposely scheduled the pick up later thinking it would be a breeze, boy was I wrong. I reserved at 7pm- arrived early and omg! Bush airport was not busy at that time, other rental cars weren't either. The lady at the counter was patient and nice despite me being frazzled due to the line. Went to pick out the car and no help there either. I reserved a small car and ended up with a full size, which I didn't want. A lady said it's an upgrade- ? yet I was thinking more gas. The return process again at 9am was uhh, a lady flags me to move up, then disappears. No final receipt, nothing! I am already expecting issues with the bill, Never again, I'll pay more for less hassle.

After standing in line for 3 hours I was given an electric car, which was not what I reserved. The electric car was not fully charged and came with absolutely no instruction. This was the most stressful trip for my sister and 86 year old mother completely because of dollar rental.

Agent: Unfortunately we ran out of cars.But the reservation keeps the car here. That's why you have the reservation.Agent: I know why we have reservations.I don't think you do. If you did, I'd have a car. See, you know how to take the reservation, you just don't know how to hold the reservation and that's really the most important part of the reservation, the holding. Anybody can just take them.

Rented a car with an agreed upon price of ~417 dollars online. Process to fill out paperwork took at least 15 minutes and I was being rushed at the end of it so I did not notice that they had added ~300 dollars in insurance I did not want. When I realized it I was 2 hours away from the airport and called their customer service line, who assured me that they would put a note in the contract and that I'd be able to get that amount refunded when I returned the car, the customer service agent refused to provide a confirmation number which should have been a red flag. When I returned the car 5 days later I was told they could not remove the insurance because I needed to do that at a Dollar rental location, of which there as none closer than the airport I was 2 hours away from and which I was not told. I can't even refute this on my credit card because they won't help me.I hope you're happy Dollar. You got 300 dollars of my money but I will never rent from Dollar, Hertz, or Thrifty ever again.

I rented from Dollar but, for some reason, had to pickup at Hertz. I tried to use my XM subscription in the rental but Sirius told me that I had to call the rental company; no one at Dollar customer service was able to assist. The car was great until the connection between my phone and the car wouldn’t work. I could no longer get GPS on my screen. I couldn’t even play my music. I was driving around Michigan not sure of where I was going and the WiFi in the car wouldn’t work so I couldn’t always rely on my phone. I gassed up prior to returning the car and had to rely on my wits to get me back to MKE since the GPS remained messed up. I told the guy at the Hertz return about the issue. He said the manager would call me. I didn’t hear from anyone but I did get a small credit on my card. I then looked at the receipt and saw that they charged me $15 for gas (I returned it with a completely full tank) and 5 hours of overage. I actually returned it 3 hours earlier than expected. I had to call and was told they would credit these amounts (waiting on these to post). Overall, the car (Equinox) was great due to gas mileage but Dollar needs to service its cars better as the tire pressures were all different, the oil needed to be changed, and the air filter had an indicator light. I would rent an Equinox again but from another company.

Prepaid for a car. Reservation said 7pm. I didn't get in until 9:30pm and their desk was closed with a sign saying go talk to Hertz. Hertz said they couldn't help and to come back in the AM.Like seriously? My hotel was a 100 miles away.How can a rental car desk close at 8pm on a holiday weekend at a major airport?Now I've got to dispute the charge and pay even more for a car.

There was a limited selection of vehicles and the one that was left was disgusting. There were stains on the seat and it smelt like an Eastern European bathhouse. The worst part was the hidden fees. I selected this service due to the cost and I got far less than I paid for in the end.

Do yourself a favor and do not rent a car with Dollar Car Rental. They are intentionally misleading about what the total cost will be and look for any chance they can to add on extra fees. I know that that is somewhat standard for car rental places but it seems to be worse here. I will not use them again.

Arrived to Milwaukee to find myself in line behind 20 other customers who had already checked in and who were waiting for their keys. Lost 90 minutes waiting for our car which resulted in running short of time and putting us in the envelope for much worse rush hour traffic. Called customer support - no one picked up. Spoke with the agent at the desk - basically told, "sorry, tough S$$t." Will NEVER rent with Dollar again.

Left an expensive pair of sunglasses in a vehicle and reported it barely an hour after returning car and no one has contacted me about my claim I filed. Either the accepting employee stole them or the company don't care to see it as a priority to a first time customer

Terrible car rental experience. I will never rent from Dollar Car Rental again. We went to pick up our car after landing in Orlando and the line was outrageously long. We proceeding to get yelled at by an employee saying that as a family of 4 we couldn't stand in line together. I'm sorry but you can't tell me what to do when your line is this long. It was terrible and I will never recommend this car rental service to anyone. I don't need to be yelled at by anyone for wanting to stand in line as a family. Ridiculous!
