Buckhorn State Park is a very peaceful and beautiful place. The main campground features large, very nice campsites, some with electric. Walk-in tent sites are also very nice. It is a great place for biking, hiking, and kayaking on the very large Castle Rock Lake, which allows for lots of exploring. The park offers a nice swimming beach with a volleyball court and horseshoe pit, along with trails to walk. The campground is very well-maintained and always clean. Facilities include very nice showers and bathrooms, grills, pit toilets, and even an outdoor shower. Many sites have their own little beach and entrance to the lake, with decent privacy between them. Parking is easy and there is lots of room. A common note is that the bugs, including mosquitos and flies, can be pretty bad, which is typical for camping. The camp hosts are noted as very friendly and helpful. Visitors highly recommend this park for a great time, noting it is a camping place, not a motel.
Beautiful park with plenty of activity options. Biking, hiking, kayaking or canoeing. Clean facilities and sites. Large sites. Definitely worth checking out.

Easily accessible by land or boat. Nice fishing dock/pair adjacent to a beach and sand volleyball court with plenty of parking. Separate beach/boat launch that is part of the state park and easy to access right by the bridge. Many campsites available spread across the lakefront.
