Central Wisconsin's only botanical garden, Monk Botanical Gardens, is located in Wausau, WI. The gardens feature designed spaces including a Memory Plaza, Wildflower Woods, Shade and Hosta Garden, Meditation Garden, an outdoor Kitchen Potager, a fully accessible Treehouse, and Sara's Storybook Garden. Numerous trails lead through the property, making it ideal for walks, meditation, exploration, and events such as weddings, birthday parties, and reunions. The Gardens is a Travel Green Business, and a list of events and programs, including regular tours, can be found on the website. Hours change seasonally, and facilities/bathrooms may be locked during winter months. A new parking lot is located at 1901 N 4th Ave. Visitors describe the gardens as "really lovely," with the space changing weekly as new plants bloom throughout the summer. The well-maintained and peaceful gardens offer plenty of space for leisurely walks and enjoying the biodiversity.
