Dells Mining Co. offers a hands-on experience mining natural precious and semi-precious gemstones from all over the world, where visitors keep everything they find. It is described as a lot of fun and an awesome place, perfect for a first-time activity. The staff is very accommodating, attentive, helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly, even offering information about the rocks and suggestions. The kids had a lot of fun and a wonderful experience finding fantastic rocks. The business also features a rock and mineral shop with unique gifts, souvenirs, and mind-blowing crystals. It has two locations serving the Wisconsin Dells for 30 years.
It's nice, lots of selection but for a local longtime rock/mineral collector it's overpriced, definitely targets the tourists. I have bought things from there, recently a petrified wood branch that I unfortunately chipped when I got home(cats) and I'm questioning it's authenticity, the inside is like plaster.

First time doing this kind of activity and it was a lot of fun. Staffs are very accommodating even when we arrived almost closing time. They still gave us information about the rocks we got and even offered us jewelry for the polished stone we got as well. Will definitely recommend this activity for everyone!
