This museum is great! We really got a feel for life in this area in the past. Plus the surroundings are beautiful and the optional guide who took us around, Linda, was great!! We learned a lot from her!!

Fantastic Museum it even has guided tours, the lady at the front desk-Linda, is a History buff and is so knowledgeable that you could easily spend an hour there just talking to her,, she also says the first thing people ask her is where the two story outhouse is!!!

We really enjoyed this museum in the tiny town of Encampment. They have many historic buildings that have been relocated there from all over the area, all with historic furnishings and exhibits. I would highly recommend watching the short video they offer. Staff was friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend a quick stop there if you're in the area.

Nice museum with several buildings and many relics. Tours are guided and a small donation is recommended.

Just roaming through the area and stopped here. What a fantastic collection of items from a lost era. Definitely take the tour. Our guide Maddy was terrific- personable, friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming. Thank you for the tour and indulging all our questions Maddie

Everything about the history of Encampment and more. Dozen of antique buildings to play in. Insane. Awesome place.

While off the beaten path, this museum is packed with historical items, reproductions, and information. We were let into many of the buildings and given a personal tour by one of the docents who was obviously passionate about the history of encampment and the copper mine and the families there. Visit by donation. Great views from the old fire tower (a little scary climbing up and down).

We wandered through Encampment and decided to try the Museum based on others recommendations. Great choice and we got lucky. We were the only visitors shortly after the Museum opened for the day. That resulted in the very knowledgeable Museum Director, Tim, taking us on a personalized tour through the Museum and grounds. Highlights: The mirrored upright casket … or is it something else? The two story outhouse … why such a thing? Really enjoyable historical trip back into time. Thanks Tim, you are a great tour guide!

By far one of my favorite museums that I've ever visited for Western history and of course Wyoming history. Especially important is the story of women in this part of the world in the state of Wyoming being first in the US for women's rights and suffrage. The outbuildings are not open during the winter but the museum is open 5 days a week year round and the administrator there is Tim he is extremely knowledgeable in a super nice guy highly recommend this museum the story of the little boy that was hit by lightning is one of the most moving museum displays I've ever seen.
